This is incredibly helpful for knowing what to do with the core, although I might add that it's important to use the walls to your advantage when in both an offensive and defensive position. In round #2, the Asher also had the option to hit it down to self pass off of the wall and fade up to put themselves in a more advantageous position with better control over the core, and in round #3 the Vyce had the option to hit it straight up for a self pass to let their teammates spread out and to force the player ready for the crossup (in this case you) to commit to something such as an ability or cutting off their options by getting too close to a wall. These were the only real instances that a self pass would be useful but they would be incredibly useful for the goalies in those scenarios. Other than that, this was an incredible video and definitely showed me a few more options that I can have when attempting to clear as a goalie!
The self pass info is probably right. I'm not a goalie player nor do i claim to be. So i tired to not talk about things beyond the obvious. As i feel that I'm unsure about stuff like that.

Nice guide. I'm surprised that I pretty much already am aware of what i should be doing when i strike the core, I just need to be more consistent in making the right decision. And better at aiming. It's rough trying to hit somewhere specific and being slightly off enough for things to go south (or for lag to kick in and drop the aim from my controller. I've self goaled like three times from that and looked like a troll).
Not gonna lie. At around 12:00, with all that lead up of "hey this is an obvious pass that you should see, don't take the solo queue hero route, just pass to the open teammate who is literally standing there waiting for it," I was fully expecting time to resume and the Drek'kar to shoot it down, them mistime his primary and the lose strike war as a result. Good to see somebody making the right choice. Gotta admit his name does look a tad familiar though...
17:07 an alternate play you can make here as a forward is to hit the core straight down as a pass to the Rasmus. Since you're banking it off the wall the core will be slower and will give your Rasmus time to collect the core and keep advancing the play. Great vid though!
Wow I know I said I'm kind of a fanboy of yours but like that's an insane play. I've never thought of a backwards wall pass. That is so smart stealing this.
I got Round 1, I was between the green and red arrow on Round 2, got it on Round 3, got it on Round 4, got it on Round 5, for Round 6 I didn't know if Estelle had her blink up so for me a pass straight up was my choice since a pass directly to AiMi could've been intercepted by Estelle's blink, got it on Round 7, got the orange on Round 8, got it on Round 9 and I had 2 options for Round 10 but got it right. For a High Gold Estelle Mid main, not bad! I've been told by Diamond players that I have at least diamond level which is nice, I just have to climb and with SoloQ being SoloQ it can be hard, your guides helps a lot for sure! :D
Ended up scoring a 7/10, there were a few times there where I sort of forgot the wall was an option. But, I've only been playing for the past day, so I figure I'll get more used to that. I didn't think the back pass from round #8 was something so foreign to people, but I also duo queue with my goalie. So I end up back passing to him to set up plays in the beginning of the round pretty often. Sometimes I really shouldn't, I just find it hard to trust the other forward sometimes. That's just something I'll have to get over if I want to climb though, I know. Overall, very informative video. I'll have to do my best to start implementing some of this, as I do often get myself into strike wars that I just lose because I panic-clicked the core first.
Great vid got 8/10. The first one confused me bc I didn't listen to the instructions well and was like "what is the Ai.Mi supposed to do other than what she already did?" And then the last one I thought Estelle would've self passed off the wall instead for the same trajectory but slower. Honestly IDK why I thought that, maybe I'm too goalie-brained to properly self pass.
I think a slow pass down would be fine if they Estelle didn't have so many blink awakenings which obviously you can't tell from the clip. I should have highlighted her awakenings and the abilities she had up at the time to make it more clear what the play should be. It kind of served as a gotcha moment which I did because I wanted to end the video by making the viewer think about how they can use strike in conjunction with their abilities. Idk trying my best out here :P
@LovenO.S. You're absolutely killing it. Trying to get my friends to watch so we can level up the squad. Any plans for a goalie vid soon? Would love a similar level of depth on the subject, most "guides" out there rn are 10 min run-downs for absolute beginners
In the 6th case I think it would be reasonable to strike the core to the bottom red arrow, a pass being obvious is bad in this case, estelle can redirect the core with skills, striking the upper bumper; striking below would just "pass" to the enemy but they can only return to Drekar or strike up to Ai.Mi, I think it's a net neutral in this case.
I just typed up a big paragraph and refreshed so I lost it...... So I'm going to keep this short. Red line doesn't progress the offensive attack. It should easily get past the drekar if they take this line. This is why it's bad your setting up the other teams offensive front with this type of play. As they will just clear it around us / through drek. Green Line good because if Kai isn't core chasing and playing up like they should. If Estelle cuts the pass with an ability Kai gets core control and still feeds it to me. I hope that explains it well enough I had so much more written out and I'm not rewriting it.
@@LovenO.S. "I just typed up a big paragraph and refreshed so I lost it" (I hate when that happens). I may have been thinking it more as a risk reward situation in the overall round and not as a direct action, passing to Ai.Mi is the correct choice nonetheless
Clearing away from the enemy is a good general rule of thumb, but with experience, you will find exceptions to this rule. For example, when playing goalie against a forward Estelle, you generally never want to strike across your goal line because an experienced Estelle will anticipate this and use an ability to shoot the core in. So, in this example, my rule of thumb here is clear "same side" (into the diagonal if possible) until you know that her abilities are on cooldown.
Good add. I'm not a goalie player but i am keeping this video in general basic. I didnt want to present to much depth. Especially in respect to the goalie position.
15:53 This one messed me up for a moment. My gut reaction was to send the core to the bottom of the goal, but after a moment I noticed that Asher's Arc Blast probably gets in the way of that. That being said, no clue why Rasmus sent the core to the upper corner.
On round 1, it looks to me like if kai kicks the core up, your glitch pop will still reach it in time, hitting it after kai, resulting in a goal? I was thinking that if the kai were aware of the glitch pop, kai needs to move back into his goal so he doesnt end up stunned with the ball moving in so that he can guarentee kicking it after your glitch pop is done. From there though, the angle up into the top right diagonal of the map is cut off, making kais life 100x harder... maybe toss it to juno and pray she can win a kick off against you to clear the core? I definitely agree with the angle youre saying kai would want, but I'm not sure he can actually get that angle in the situation provided. Do you think I'm wrong here?
Yeah him being further back would be good. I'm like 99% sure the clear angle i mentioned works if it doesn't then he was doomed anyway at that point without doing something crazy like evade striking.
And yes if he is standing back he could clear it after the glitch pop hits. I'm not a goalie player and i don't want to talk about goalie play in detail.
Oh man, evade striking would be a crazy play! Thanks for the reply, that one example in particular bugged me a bit just because to me it looked doomed any way he hit it from that position
@@davidlayman901 Evade striking is a very high level thing I didn't really start seeing it till high diamond+ so it's not a thing I expect to see in lower level play and any time spent practicing it would be better just spent practicing proper clearing or positioning. *shrug*
For round 2 I probably would've passed in between the aimi and the orb with the intention that the aimi would get it after it bounces from the wall. Might get a bit tight with the possible projection from atlas, but I think it's doable. I got 8/9 other ones, last one was tricky.
There is for sure a degree with which the green line represents. The green line is probably the safest line that works basically all the time. The last round is intentionally hard to get you thinking about how strike can be used in conjunction with abilities.
As long as you get record yourself playing we can coach it. I don't think anyone here can tell you how to do the mechanics better but all the game knowledge and theory will translate.

13:26 couldn't Era send the core to her own goal there to bounce off of it? game really needs a replay feature so i can actually see what am i doing wrong tho since my pc can't screen record (low end)
She could it is safe but it doesn't progress the game state if that makes sense. Putting it there doesn't help her team make progress nor does it really deny me access to the core as she can't easily walk through the turret.
Maybe some day thats not in my near future. I have to many other videos i want to make. I'm on a trip right now. I have my own journey to omega to work through. I got the coaching server help maintain and I've got a secret tournament in the works right now. On top of normal life stuff. Needless to say my time is tight. Maybe one day though.
The first example comparing kai and asher is a bit unfair imo because kai's forwards position so bad that no matter where he clear to core, it's always a bad clear😂
Question 1: "What do you mean, strike? You're about to score with your ability, that's not a strike, we've seen this clip... Oh, it's the Kai. Well, why don't you say so?" Question 10: "Alright, now you're doing it on purpose. Of course she has abilities up (which there's no way of telling) and of course she conveniently has awakenings for it (same there)." Cheater.
The glitch pop is visible and I'm referencing how he should strike. The estelle didn't need awakenings for that to work she just wouldn't have got the ko with it. However to that point if she didnt have any abilities the correct play would have been to stall the core for either rasmus to make himself useful or for her abilities to come up. I think thats a good catch on thay being "unfair" but i did want to showcase how your strike can be used in conjunction with abilities to set yourself up.
Regardless of estelle's abilities/awakenings, it's good to strike up there because that forces zentaro (staggered) to go to the edge of the field to retrieve it, letting rasmus or estelle go and KO him
@@xThemczombiex An aware player won't just mindlessly chase it off the side, but rather wait for it to bounce off it. He could also use meter to become elusive. I think a backwards pass to the Rasmus (who has a nice bounce into the goal barrier outside of opponents' effective ranges) would have been much better than just a casual strike upwards.
@@Marhathor That is also a potential play. I didn't want to suggest yet another back pass. Also given that the rasmus was in the wrong spot and given their play the entire game I wouldn't have trusted them and thus I wouldn't have passed to them unless they were like wide open.

Got into a game with u last night u were the first challenger I ever had on my team and I was high plat it really felt like I didn’t belong there I was an X u carried also if any one knows a good X guide would love it
You didn't belong there and that is okay! I felt the exact same way when i was in your shoes. I don't know of any X guides to recommend you. However there is the coaching discord that you can join to get free coaching from challenger plus players.
You can also go and watch the vod of the game on my twitch channel. I probably didn't say very nice things because i was frustrated, but those games are as rough for me as they are for you. Just know that I don't really mean anything I say I'm just venting my frustrations.
13:26 couldn't Era send the core to her own goal there to bounce off of it? game really needs a replay feature so i can actually see what am i doing wrong tho since my pc can't screen record (low end)
She could it is safe but it doesn't progress the game state if that makes sense. Putting it there doesn't help her team make progress nor does it really deny me access to the core as she can't easily walk through the turret.
man your work is great, plis give us analisis of trio abusers
Maybe some day thats not in my near future. I have to many other videos i want to make. I'm on a trip right now. I have my own journey to omega to work through. I got the coaching server help maintain and I've got a secret tournament in the works right now. On top of normal life stuff. Needless to say my time is tight. Maybe one day though.
I LOVE PLAYING AI MI ShES PRETTY COO:
May I call you Coach?
You may call me Coach.
@@LovenO.S. FOOTBALL! YEAH!
13:20 id argue orange line for under Ai.Mi
Still not as good an answer but that woupd be a potential pass to Vyse 😂
If you watch it back she tired to get it under me. It didn't work.
@@LovenO.S.fair enough! She needed a steeper angle. It still wasn't as good an answer.
Well, why don't you say so?"
Question 10: "Alright, now you're doing it on purpose. Of course she has abilities up (which there's no way of telling) and of course she conveniently has awakenings for it (same there)."
Cheater.
Also given that the rasmus was in the wrong spot and given their play the entire game I wouldn't have trusted them and thus I wouldn't have passed to them unless they were like wide open.
i missed the first pass there, my brain went "i have to dribble! " for the ai.mi. pass to the drakar, but ocne i caught that one i didnt drop any others
That's pretty good as you saw I missed it to Q_Q. We learn and grow!
