Absolutely a Game Changer for teaching classes. Often when you speak in another language, facial expressions are a big part of communication. This combines the teaching and emotive together. Thanks Camtasia Team - Pure Brilliance!!!!
Awesome, yet another fantastic workload enhancer from Camtasia. I said in a number of comments in recent videos looking at new features, Camtasia is really helping to enhance how videos are being produced. More efficient processes and features is a winner. And this new feature is another great way to speed up production and give your final product a top end look.

If your content goes off the side, you can fill the background to make it work. We made a video about filling a vertical video space a few years back. I absolutely LOVE Camtasia. I have used every single version as they've been released. Although I am still with the 2022 version, but plan to upgrade to this version very soon. Can you tell me, is there a way to export all video screen records to a higher resolution other than 1080p? I create all my RUclips channel videos using this software, so it would be cool if I was able to export them in higher quality as RUclips compress all videos. Thanks!
Just downloaded and installed the update. This is exactly what I was looking for to speed up my process for tutorial videos. This is an outstanding feature and big step forward. Keep up the great work!!
Absolutely! Are you looking to change the project size? Like from horizontal to vertical? Or just the scale of the video? For the first one, right-click your canvas and choose "Project Settings." For the second one, click on the media you want to scale, and in the Properties panel make your adjustment. Let me know if that's not what you meant!
This looks pretty solid and comes at a very opportune time for me as I start spitting out more shortform videos for my client's social media platforms (TikTok, IG, etc). I'm anticipating that it will take note of existing themes and incorporate them into the suggested iterations. Now if only the community forums were available again so we could discuss it further! 😄😏🤞🏻
Camtasia Rev won't have your themes available (at least not yet) in the default options in the Rev menu, HOWEVER they're still available when you click "Edit in Timeline" and you can change the dynamic background to be on your theme, or any other assets you bring in. The nice thing is, we didn't get rid of features, we just added a smoother experience to get people started.
Testing it out now. Seems to save a few steps. This could be a real time saver!!! had to figure out that the features shown in the video do not appear until AFTER YOU FINISH YOUR RECORDING. I thought Camtasia Rev settings appeared BEFORE you start your recording.
Sorry if that was unclear. Correct, you're still going to record like always, but then before getting into the editor, Camtasia Rev pops up first. Good call out.
I love it. I tried it out. If we finish recording and use Camtasia Rev and then go to edit mode, is there a way to go back to Camtasia Rev? I was trying to go back to the Rev Menu after I finished direct editing, but I didn't know how to return to it. Or do you just have to do all the stuff in Rev first and then when you are sure your Rev tweaks are done and then you can go into Edit in Camtasia because you can't go back?
Right now, you can only use Rev up until the point you “Edit in Timeline.” You can’t currently go back into Rev. so try to do everything you want there first, before leaving that workflow.
@@techsmith Let's say I've accidentally already chosen a format, but it is a greenscreen. Technically, I could export the file as is and then start a whole new recording. Then I could import the previous green screen recording into the new project. So if I'm doing a video tutorial, I could do the 16:9 Camtasia Rev setup. I can then import the greenscreen recording of my narration into the newly created project. That could be a way to get around the preformatted Camtasia Rev of the first video. Does that sound about right?
AHHH, thanks for explaining, I've been watching pre 2023 Camtasia videos while trying out this version. I was thinking of not buying it but you have changed my mind. I'm going to hit subscribe and like now, see you soon.
While I am a big fan of Camtasia and I like what Rev can do, I was drawn into this article mainly by the AI-assisted descriptor. As someone regularly engaged in workplace & process effeciency and value generation, I was left disappointed. My expectation had been set very differently based on the AI-assisted inference, and I was expecting something more akin to other AI video generation solutions that I use, which Rev doesn't really match up to (nor is intended to match up to, I believe). My assessment of Rev is that it's more of a "fast, customizable template" type assist RATHER THAN an AI assisted solution.....taking into consideration what I think most people expect an AI-assisted video solution to be. So I think you've shot yourself a little in the foot in terms of managing customer expectations. I would probably have been delighted with the experience if this update had been "sold" to me under an "Improved, fast and powerful video generation update using improved template functionality", but instead I was left feeling disappointed as I assessed it (wrongly I admit, but that was the expectation inferred by the descriptor) against other AI-assisted video tools. Camtasia remains a great tool, I would hate to see it tarnished in any way by positioning it so that it was judged unfairly in any comparisons made with other tools.
Not quite yet, no. We know that’s something people will want though so our team is hard at work on that idea. The ability to import footage into it, or go back into it again multiple times. We’ll see what they can make happen!

This looks fantastic. Is it possible to change the layout in editing? E.g. to use the Rev layout for the intro and a different one for the rest of the video?
I'd love to know this as well. Or can I open it up in Rev again to make a different version with a different layout. That would be handy to make a vertical version for phones and then the wide screen option for people on their computers.
Just when I was going to start using Premier Pro (I know, I said it...Don't Kill Me) Camtasia comes out with this fantastic AI option. Great job moving with the times. I have recommended this to all of my digital marketing students around the world at University of the People. QUESTION, when doing the screen recording, is there a way to make the screen capture Full Screen rather than use a background color?
And if those options aren't right, once you've clicked "Edit in Camtasia" you can always delete the bottom track with the color on it, and fill the frame with your screen recording (if it doesn't already).
My office still uses 2021, however, I have the latest version at home. I'm working away for a month, but can't wait to get home to check this out! It looks amazing!!!
Send this video to whoever is in charge of purchasing and talk about the cost of a license, vs. the cost of time saved. ;) But regardless, looking forward to hearing what you think when you're able to use it!
It's great that this update comes at no extra cost. Thanks, that is great! Seeing the feature, there does not seem to be much AI, however. It is only the background extraction, right? All the other (nice) features are quick links to certain layouts, so nothing AI-based. I was hoping for text->video editing features, such that the video is transcribed and then I can add the transcribed text instead of the video. I thought that this is why you made the extra pause at the beginning of the video to show us how quickly it can be fixed.
Nope, you're correct there is only Background Removal currently that is an AI feature. Though as the dev team adds more they'll get into Rev one at a time. However, where you'll find text-based editing (that also edits the Camtasia video if you own them both) and much more AI is in our sister product, Audiate: ruclips.net/video/8cBSB8AbZ78/видео.html
@techsmith This looks great. Can I use Rev then edit in Camtasia and then use Rev again to export in various screen sizes in a very streamlined way? That would be really cool if so. If the answer is yes, what steps are involved?
You would think this would be default. I will buy the next version. I was really excited about creating a video, getting it into rev then being able to use multiple sizes as a starting point for different socials, at very minimum widescreen for RUclips/Rumble, and tall for Insta/TikTok/FB. Seems like more of an oversight.
@@JoPaMi Nope, not an oversight. We released version one when it was ready. When we develop the next version of this feature, that's when it will get released.
@@techsmithLooking very forward to v2 and the ability to export in various styles/sizes/formats! Really enjoying what Camtasia Rev has to offer so far ✨
New to Camtasia, so I may have missed it. Are you able to go back and do multiple "pulls" from the same clip in Rev? For example, exporting one version full size for, say, RUclips, and then a second version in vertical for TikTok?
Not YET, but this is something we're very aware people will want. First step was to launch Camtasia Rev, second step is to release some improvements and follow-through on requests similar to this one. Not sure how long it'll take to implement, but it's DEFINITELY on our to-do list!
I like Camtasia. I use it often to make my videos. Is it possible to add the Animated Avatar/Character feature. It is going to make things even mre fun and pretty.
Are you thinking like a custom avatar that looks like you, such as Apple/Meta have? We don't have that currently, no, but I'll mention it to the dev team. You can always bring those in from other places, but natively, it doesn't exist.
Looks great! Thank you! I'd love to see the ability to do the text-based editing. Descript's implementation, with removal of filler words is incredible. I just think their editor is less intuitive than yours. Can't wait to see what you add next!
Have you used Audiate yet? Our sister software that has text-based editing, removed filler words and syncs the edits with Camtasia? Audiate.com for more info. :)
I feel like I'm the leader of the anti-floating head, camera on, screen recording group, but the ease of use while creating a high quality feel might just change my mind. I've always argued that it looked poor or took too much time to not get enough ROI. I think this might change things. Now, I'm just concerned that it's going to encourage me to buy an expensive camera 😂 I'm excited to try this out!
Very nice! Can we use Rev on imported videos? I like the way Zoom adds the Appearance slider so I usually record there and then import into Camtasia for editing. (Though fingers crossed Camtasia will add some kind of smoothing appearance feature in the future!)

This is great. Is this included in Camtasia or is it an add-on?
It's included! If you have Camtasia 2023, check for updates and you should already have it!
@@techsmith Thanks! I'll check it out!
Hey Camtasia... I loved your product ..you can sponsor me ..welcome
Great demo
Very nice! Can we use Rev on imported videos? I like the way Zoom adds the Appearance slider so I usually record there and then import into Camtasia for editing. (Though fingers crossed Camtasia will add some kind of smoothing appearance feature in the future!)
I was hoping for that too, but it looks like you have to record in the platform
Thanks!@@jenspencer8404
Import into Rev? Not yet….but stay tuned.
Awesome, that would be super helpful!@@techsmith
