Met him 26 years ago walking him as Security to the stage at Cowboys Red River in Dallas, TX and he bumped me and was quick to apologize and so was I we had a good laugh and most stars never apologize and since then I’ve been a huge fan.
That was on the first album I ever bought of Marty back about 1965 as a teenager. I have been a fan of his singing, especially, the cowboy ballads--short stories put to music.

Now if he had a ‘Tennessee Tenor’ singing harmony on the chorus with him instead of an ooh and aah girl backup we’d have real country music. ‘Til then can’t beat a young Ray Price with Van Howard singing tenor. One of Harlan Howard’s earlier classics written when he was driving a forklift at a book bindery in Huntington Park California, a few miles South of downtown L.A..
