The devs: guys let’s make a cool ass space port with original and fun track design, a very cool looking setting and bangin’ music… And then let’s not reuse it and only make a single track for it. Great idea right? Jokes aside i think having only one Cosmo Terminal track makes it more unique in comparison to the other worlds/planets that you race through.
One cool detail I love about this track, is shortly after you get to the final lap, the elevator stops going up, implying that it’s reached the top. Way to make a badass track and song even more so.
Miyamoto won't do that because he's too busy making the same Mario Kart/Party game over and over, despite claiming to never want to make the same game twice. I used to idolize the man but these days I just find him to be a hypocrite whilst Nintendo generally has become the Disney of video games, which is not a compliment.
Trident looks like such a basic stage at first but in practice I found it has a lot of nuance to it. Cool design imo. The last lap tune is so intense and contrasts the first two lap's monotony perfectly.
Trident was probably the track I got the best at over time. and where I first discovered the idea of track skips. the ability to time your jumps from one track to the next to minimize distance traveled was fascinating. to this day whenever I think back on this game this is the track that I think of first.
Trident is one of my favorite tracks. At a glance, it looks like such a basic stage - just 3 almost straight lanes - but in practice I found it has a lot of nuance to it. Cool design imo. This track comes pretty late in the game. It's the first stage of the second to last cup, Diamond. The layout is simple, but then they removed the railings for added tension. This is also cool because at this point you can mainly focus on not falling off instead of juggling multiple things because of the simpler layout. It really focuses on micro movements and rock solid control of your ship. Keep her steady. Then they added different resource allocations to each lane. Some have boosts earlier, some have repair strips earlier, but all have the same resources total AFAIK. This way you can pick your optimal line depending on how fast you go or what you prefer. Lastly, they let you gamble by letting you switch lanes if you take the risk of falling off easier. Sometimes this is worth it because you can take the boost from one lane and still reach the boost that was put later on in another lane, getting ahead of the competition. As for the music, the last lap tune is so intense and contrasts the first two lap's monotony perfectly.
I agree that this one is more stressful than Phantom Road because, This one is such a long track with no rails and if you are trying to beat the cup on Master you can’t really afford to lose any machines here. Phantom Road on the other hand, you can’t win that track, you either have the championship secured or not, so it’s more about laying back, taking it easy and surviving it, What Phantom does have going for it is that you can’t just restart without losing 20 mins of progress,
For what it's worth, some wikis list Spiral at 27,970 meters for one lap, with Lightning - Thunder Road at 24,690. Couldn't find a figure for Trident, but all other GX courses that I could find were half or even a third of Spiral's length. I'm guessing Trident is somewhere in the 20,000s, though. It's definitely in the top three.
@@av6728 not true you don’t need to find AX machine to unlock the other cups, for Diamond cup you have win in 1st in the Ruby,Sapphire,& Emerald cups in expert class, and for the AX Cup you have do the same thing, including Diamond cup but in master class which is unlocked when you get Diamond cup.
I originally bought this game specifically because the music was awesome (I normally hate racing games). I used to think I was good at this game (completed the story mode on very hard), then I realized I didn't really get good at this game, I just memorized the tracks :/ Also I couldn't be bothered to fly to friggin Japan or wherever to find an AX machine so I used the game shark. If you did not know, all of the AX data is already on the fucking disc; plugging in your memory card into an AX machine probably just flips the can-use-AX-data bit to true. Literally probably a single line of code, after proper error/fraudulent device checks I'm sure. However, it does make sense that Nintendo wouldn't allow any foreseeable chance of people hacking their own data into the game, because Nintendo hates it's fans and any fan content they might produce. They're like the Disney of video games, fr. Also, while I'm at it, Miyamoto ruined Paper Mario for no good reason and I took that personally. I am very depressed (the actual chronic clinical diagnosis kind) and have nobody to talk to usually so I'm sorry for venting here. If you read my bitching, thanks I guess.
@@ChiefMedicPururu I don't believe so, although I can't quite remember at this point. My GameCube and relevant memory card hasn't been powered on in at least a few years and is in storage somewhere. I would main C Falcon anyway just because I was so used to grinding out attempts in story mode. Thank you for talking to me.
By the way, you can unlock the AX content without hacking, but you have to beat some pretty hard challenges (Complete all the 4 cups in the hardest difficulty for the AX Cup and beat the Story Mode on Very Hard to get the characters, which actually have their own interview lines and pilot endings!)
True that, and yet, it’s the fat that gets ya. For some reason, Don Genie will easily reach around 1200 kmh in master and stay at that speed, unless boosting. Even your hyper speeder will have trouble keeping up without advanced strats. The rest of the racers are piss easy though lol

Only three tracks with only one variant. Those being: Cosmo Terminal, Phantom Road, and Outer Space.
@@Techhunter_Talon Actually, Phantom Road has another variant but it's Story mode exclusive.
gotta give people a reason to track down the rare F-Zero AX arcade machine I guess

Especially since the elevator reaches the top during lap 3

Bangs harder than me accidentally bumping into the guard rails all the time (there are none)
There are some near the starting grid actually and near the end of the track / heal pads 🥸
Hope we'll see a new generation trying this level.

i finally managed to track down a copy of the game !!!!!
You vs. Don Genie
Legitimately the only reason I struggled with Diamond Cup on Master mode. I was saying to myself, "should've NEVER played Chapter 4..."
Most stressful track in the entire game lmao.
And it's only the first track of the Diamond cup.
No im sure that prize goes to phantom road

This is THE best song in F-Zero GX
One of the most broken combinations in gaming: Fat Shark and Trident
Gets me so hyped to just FLY thru a course
Nice sounds.. Skynet likes IT 🤖😎🤖
Never played the game but its amazing. What is this genre?
Pro Tip: use the beat of this tracks as your ryhtm to do pushups xD
Its not trance, but it sure is fun to zone out to. It probably falls under that all-too-large category of EDM.
Love jumping tracks risky though
I have to wonder if this is the largest course in the game or does that go to something like Green Plant Spiral.

It is a shame it is locked behind the F-Zero AX machine gimmick despite the data already being on-disc
