Very nice! You really do some great magical painting with the contrast paints, really well done. Great basing. I need to get my self that fast drying PVA-glue. Thanks for this video, this will get me back on hobby table. I´v been burned out a bit after the WL-Samurai. But getting back on track now.😀👍
@@7thson726 WL-Samurai is just made so bad. The assably part, the lack of no small bases on their feet. All this together takes enegry from you. They really need to redo this range from scratch. Yes they are very nice and look good when they are done.... but to get there is way to time consuming. If you compare them with all the other range of miniatures WL got.
@@NicGamz ah yeah i remember them. Those were the wargames factory ones wernt they, they just repackaged them. Its a shame because a well thought out modern plastic sprue of Samurai would sell really well. Fortunately i have all ghe plastic ones i need done so now i can just focus in metals, have you seen the range from Gone for Grey and Steel Fist, lovely stuff 👍
Very nice Martin I like the way you have mixed up the parts with the main box . I'm using mine for a commanded shotte to go with the cavalry trotters .take care terry
Cheers Terry. A i say i think to gwt the most out this box you need to mix it a bit, just to add variety, looking forward to seeing what you come up with 👍
merci pour cette vidéo, j'utilise mes contrast pour des figurines ASOIAF j'ai découvert qu'on pouvait aussi faire des figurines historiques. Merci encore
Nice work mate. I like the way you make use of the contrast paints as a paint and not a short cut. This is the way I am tempted to use them if I ever take the plunge. I have been tempted by a few colours I must say.
I'm just getting back into the hobby after what seems a lifetime, the contrast painting is a revelation.Amazing work, you really should have more subscribers.Subbed.
A cracking tutorial martin really great job. Gunna have to go back and re do mine now 😖 keep up the great work mate and look forward to riding them down with my ironsides 🤣👍
Sure no problem. I get a tray full of soil from tje garden and bake it at a high heat for about 30 mins, when its cooked down i sieve it into a container and use a rolling ping to grind it down, i do the same with some baked clay, frind it down amd mix it in. Add a little grout of the colour you want and i also add a little ground up coffee (seriously 😅) . All this adds variations in tone lile you get in real soil, hope that helps.
Fantastic painting mate are contrast paints the way to go like your style of painting be painting for ages can't seen to get it right with washes from army painter and games workshop tryed every thing at it your figures look real with contrast paints do you combine them with your contrast paints
Enjoying your painting vids as I am contemplating the dive into some Contrast Paints for my Naps, ECW and WOTR stuff, out of interest do you personally like to paint each figure individually like the vid, or do you batch paint and if so how many do you do at a time? Cheers
Thanks very much 👍 i tend to paint a base at a time so 4-6 models normally, not as daunting as a whole regiment and also keeps things varied with basing etc 👍
Thanks 👍 it can be a pain as so much of it is conjecture. Reenactment websites are a wealth of information and i found this websote helps alot wiki.bcw-project.org/start
Thanks for the painting video. The figures turned out amazing. Using the contrast paints for the base and then highlighting with the standard paints looks like it works a treat. Do you find the Zenithal highlighting adds a lot to the look in terms of adding tones of light and shadows?
Really appreciate that, thank you. Glad you enjoyed it. Honestly i do find it helps, there is definitely tonal variation. Using the contrast lets you map out where to highlight as well using the zenithal areas as a guide 👍
Beautiful painted miniatures, that basing makes them look like 200 times better.
Thank you bud 👍
Very nice 👌 looking forward to more English civil war stuff .
Cheers mate, more on the way 😁👍

Very nice done, making a captain is a great idea. Will take that one for sure on my miniatures.
Cheers mate, i actually really enjoyed working on these, despite the lack of difference in the sculpts 👍
Lovely work martin
Thanks bud 👍
Really nice one! I like your Tutorials 😊
Thanks, glad you like them, they are enjoyable to make and if someone finds it useful then that's even better 😁
Basing is brilliant, painting job looks great too
Thanks mate 👍
Nice, that final Deck Tan drybrush really helps soften the colors to appear like cloth instead of as a freshly painted model
Its subtle but i find it just helps as you say to soften everything, make it a bit more used 👍
They look really nice mate. A great little video tutorial.
Cheers bud 👍😀
Really useful to see your Contrast approach for ECW figures. The end result is top notch 👍
Really pleased you like it mate 😀

Great tutorial as always 👍 and I like the way you did a bit of conversion to make them look a bit different
Great stuff Martin !!! I love the red !!!
Cheers Jay 👍
That looks awesome! Very quick with the contrast paints and that little bit more effort with the basing really brings it all together.😃
Glad you like it bud 😀

To me they are just another tool to be used, they do speed some things up but i lile to build on what they do 👍

Looks great, I've been using 15mm ECW for a few fantasy armies I'm working on
Thanks 👍 that sounds interesting, would like to see that

Haha pleased you like it mate 👍 don't worry once your ironsides start at them i have a few regiments worth of cannon waiting 😀
I'd actually be interested to hear about the colors that you used on the other miniatures. They all look great.
Thanks glad you like them 👍 if memory serves I used alot of Nazdreg Yellow and Militarum Green, I'll have to have a look back 😁
Great tutorial and wonderful results! Good stuff Martin!
Pleased you liked it mate 👍
Great Work Marin!
Thanks Nic, hope you're well mate 👍
This was really helpful, I've been at a loss for how to paint mine.
Glad its helpful 👍😀
Would you mind going into more detail in how you made the basing with the dirt and dry clay etc?

Thanks very much. I use the contrast paints for all the e base work then use normal paints (mostly citedal) to highlight 👍😁

These look amazing, been wondering how you achieved that super realistic basing look too!
Really appreciate that cheers 👍

Hey can you make black powder 6mm with 3 ranks ?
And you re painting your miniatures beautifuly
Thankyou 😀I don't see why not. In BP its ultimately the frontage that matters so rank them how you like 👍
Hi Martin- would you varnish these? I’ve just subscribed to your channel and just brought myself the King and Country box.
I tend to add a light spray of Matt Varnish if the models will be handled alot. That is a cracking box, enjoy 👍
@@7thson726 thanks Martin 👍
