I've got the Gestalt 2 , slammed the head set, upgraded to 55mm deep dish carbon rims and its crazy crazy fast, outruns pedigree aerobikes but a bit heavy on climbs. If Marin ever made a full carbon version or dropped the weight a bit this bike would easily compete with Tarmac SL8 and other pricey racers in my similar configuration easily, a great all roader particularly if you like speed + comfort + nimble handling
My Kona was about 5 or 600 brand new 5 yrs ago. It has no glitches absolutely smooth I just would like an upgrade, a bike with internal cables. Marin is a good option fir me I just want a drop bar bike focused more on road to trail or a little more sporty for trails.
Just bought one, Oregon has some pretty nice fire roads and only about 4 million humans. The UK version of Marin cracked me up. It's the county right north of San Fran. Say Sausalito!
The nicasio is heavy it's frame is made out of chromium steel alloy, however where it lacks in speed and agility it makes up for in durability,a great option for touring and long distance rides Gestalt on the other hand is perfect for having a light weight bike that is not too focussed on the road but, can shred some of it's abilities on the offroad paths, it's faster ,lighter, and is not your typical road bike it surely has some mtb genes but its is not a good option for touring as the fork vibrates a lot on off road paths

I think that's what the Headlands is.
Jolly good! I reckon I'll be getting one!

What brand would you say competes with Kona aside from Surly? If your familiar.
... if you're* familiar. And none of the two brands is discussed here.
Would upgrade to the Gestalt 1, because it also has a carbon fork which saves weight and adds a lot of comfort.
Nicasio or Gestalt??

You're saying Marin wrong. It's painful to hear.
