Thanks Anthony. It's great being able to watch a local vlog. I have put a lot of your tips and ideas into growing my own veggie patch which has been helpful. I live in the Hunter Valley and it has been a tough year for my garden this year but your vlog keeps me inspired to keep going. All the best for 2025.
Hi Anthony, hope you and your family had a nice Christmas. Fantastic result with those Jalapenos. I'm glad the fruit fly net is working. I also use it in the winter on my Brassicas and the harvest has improved greatly. have a nice new year and Cheers.
@@sydneybackyardveggies9612 Hi Anthony, just for the fun of it I've been keeping a record of what it would cost if I were to buy my harvested vegies. To do this I multiply the supermarket average cost ( Coles +Wollies) by the amount of harvest. To date this FY since July I have harvested a total of $1046.38. Amazing how it all adds up. Cheers 😋😋
So jealous, my jaleos are smaller, no fruit fly, capscuims are big waiting for them redden. Have followed your planting , fertilising and have had good success. Thank you all the best for 2025.
Merry Christmas Anthony. That's a great capsicum and jalapeño haul! Glad to see the mesh has kept the fruit flies out too. I've been harvesting lots of jalapeños and chillies over the past few weeks. I think you had asked previously about the quality of the overwintered plants and I'm happy to say I can't taste any difference between last seasons overwintered vs this seasons new plantings. No issues like the bitterness you had experienced with eggplants.
Thanks mate glad to hear this. I’m looking at overwintering my jalapeños so I will be pruning them back once it gets cold and hopefully get an early start next year
Hi Anthony, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that you weathered the heat ok. Your garden is looking good. the stuffed jalapeno's sound yum. Jacqui
Thanks Jacqui, Merry Christmas to you as well. We managed to get through the heat but my garden is looking a bit worse for wear. Ready to start planting autumn veggies !
Hi Anthony, your patch is looking great for this time of year. Can you please let us know what your mum stuffs the zucchinis with. I hope you had a lovely Christmas with your family.
Hi from Adelaide Anthony Your jalapeños look great and I beat you to the cucumber planting with some seeds germinating this week. Can I ask how you know tomato plants have spider mite? I am trying to work out what is happening with mine, not putting out much fruit while also dealing with end rot on the fruit on the plants now.
Hi the key indicator is that your plants start getting a bronze colour as the chlorophyll gets sucked out of the plant. You also see spider webbing especially when you have a severe infestation. Check under the leaves you will see it also my flowers are starting to die as the infestation gets worse. On other plants like beans you will see the leaves go papery and spotchy.
Hi Anthony your garden looks great, just a question do you water your cucumbers less than other veggies ? My cucumbers are only Just flowering now and I heard that over watering can make them bitter what's your experience with it. All the best for the new year. Regards Chris.
Nah I water the cucumbers the same way as the other veggies. If you have bitter cucumbers you may have saved seeds from hybrid varieties. Do you know what variety you are growing and if you saved seeds?
@sydneybackyardveggies9612 Enjoy your holiday Anthony - I bet it feels great to be able to get all your garden jobs done & be home with the family. A very Happy New Year to you 🎉
