Turn the compost by moving it into the second Bay. Top then becomes bottom and all is turned. A 3 Bay system is best. 1 for turning, 1 for filling, 1 left to mature. Each will swap places when you turn into the empty Bay.
Try to leave your compost alone to allow it to heat up that way it will decompose much faster, you can pick up a compost thermometer for a few quid on amazon so you can get an idea on what's happening and when you see it cooling down then turn it, it can take upto 12 months to get your first compost heap ready which is why you want 2-3 bays so ones ready ones breaking down and the 3rd is more if a storage ready to start when yhe first is being used up, hope this help and happy new year🎉 also well worth investing in a manure/pitch fork, they have thinner prongs so make it much easier to break up and pass through the compost for turning.
Thanks for posting! I need help: My crypto wallet on OKX holds some Tether, and I tknow the recovery phrase. (clean party soccer advance audit clean evil finish tonight involve whip action)..How should I posting transferring them to transferring them?

My dad used to be a ex head gardener and said the next step for your compost is to add another bay and scoop top layer off down to what looks like ready compost if there is and then transfer that top layer to the new compost bay(to rot down bay) and then your have a ready compost bay where you can access the compost you want to use.heres a thought make signs on the bays.ready compost .decomposing compost etc

Happy New Year from Holland ! Some tips for composting that I used on my allotment; Mix the horse manure through your compost, it creates heat and volume and speeds up de decomposing of the manure and the clippins. The compostworms love it and your compost will be ready to use in two months. Keep turning it, oxygen is essential for the process. No potatoes, skins and (potato and tomato) leaves, risk of blight if temperature is not hot enough. Keep up your good work, love the videos!
I got a bird feeder with a camera and I have been having a woodpecker visit my feeder! It's been fun watching them. I'm happy your back to vlogging can't wait to see what 2025 brings!!! Happy new year 🎉
Happy new year Emma. I once grew the best zucchini plant in a compost pile. Spring and fall I move all the not done compost from the top and take the done compost from the bottom of the pile for my garden beds.
Happy New Year Emma. Today I began some winter sowing of seeds, we gardeners just need to get our hands dirty 👏👏 Looking forward to the new greenhouse project.
Lovely vlog Emma! The only thing I managed to grow for Christmas dinner was some huge brassicas, but they’d been so nibbled by caterpillars I could only eat the very middle 😂 The flavour was absolutely fantastic however, I think it’s because I fed them a lot of nettle and comfrey tea!
Hi Emma, about the compost, it's not a growing area either a dying area. It's a living area so I believe that you need to leave the compost to live! Take care when you chopped down the brown stuffs as you cut the living and decomposers, make the compost making slower.😅😉
Happy new year Emma lovely primroses my favourite colour is yellow so made me smile thank you regarding your green house i had one built last year and it has a concrete base I'm thinking that may help you so if you can't get everything out the concrete will stop it take care Xx
You use your own compost for your beds, or you can use it in outside pots, which you can also mix to a 50/50 mix of your compost and shop bought compost for pots. FYI, your own compost can contain a lot of weeds too,; and potatoes 😂...you're doing a great job Emma. Happy new year to you and your family x😊
HAPPY NEW YEAR EMMA. With compost it depends on how fine you want it i turn mine about every 2/3 mths from one bin to the other so I get the sides into the middle etc xx
My advice would be to ask your friends to get involved and perhaps whatever church you go to as well get a petition going so that when you meet with the parish council you have a list of names already behind you to show that this is something that many people in the community want. Some kind of plan on how it would be run and perhaps who would be responsible for what. Perhaps also a few plots set aside for school use if a school near by would like to participate. The more community interest and the more participants you have lined up behind you the better luck you will have. Good luck!
The weather forecast predicts frost tomorrow evening. Your broad beans are quite big already and can be damaged by frost. Happened to me a few years back when I planted them mid autumn and they grew up in mild weather. They all went black and died. Now I try to protect them from frost with fleece and they survive the frosty weather
what broad beans have you planted its been years since me and my partner had allotments but I am just getting over a breakdown so I think a allotment would do well happy new year and I really like the diaries
I left my compost four 4yrs because I couldn't get into it. My son came up and hoisted the hideous dalek compost bin. Lovely stuff in there! Just leave your compost and add stuff to it. I only turned it once. Loads of worms. It takes at least a year...or more in my case! Enjoy! Up to you though.
Happy New Year, Emma. Good to see you keepiing on top of the composting. Yep, keep forking it over, that'll speed things up by introduce air into the pile and stop it from becoming compacted. Worms in the pile is a fantastic sign. It means you have good healthy compost in the making. I would turn it into the other bay and mix it with leaves at this stage. the worms will continue to breed and speed the whole process up. Don't add any more water, its wet enough. You only want it to be damp, not wet. You're well on the way to making good compost. Well done you.
Middle of summer here but we have had English weather for the past week, now doing preparation for winter, hoeing the areas as today is dry and warm, with two days of rain forecast. Have a horrible weed that has loved the moisture, quickly trying to hoe it.
Happy New year to you and your family Emma this was a great video. I was delighted to see Einstein was ok and hear about your plans. This will be an extremely exciting year ahead. Best wishes from Dublin🎉🎉🎉
Your compost looks very fibrous & twiggy . Sticks & twigs can take a very very long time to break down . I have a off ground tumbler compost bin using food waste , brown paper & green garden clippings . I make sure that everything is cut up very small and it's kept fairly moist & turned at least once a week . When I look in side its full of red garden worms who make their own way inside .. Also, you have to be patient as it takes about 1 full year to make rich crumbling beautiful compost , but when you do, it's so exciting & free !
The Others! 😂 Hilarious! You make my life, great manure will be good in your compost bay. I dont think you need the three bays. Maybe just turn the one you have less but better, too to bottom, and out hot manure in, like chicken poop.
You are over thinking about the compost pile, nature takes in time and you can't rush it. Just keep adding materials to the pile to feed the microbes and worms.
I've watched a few of your videos trying to decide if there is something very annoying about you or very endearing... Today I realized what it is, you are a real-life, gardening Bridget Jones.
Until you stop turning your compost every few days you will never get decent compost it never has a chance to heat up . If you don’t want Potatoes growing in your compost I suggest you stop putting potatoes in there , chopping them up as you do will mean you will have lots of Potatoes growing where ever you use your compost . Looks like lots of sticks in there that will take months to rot down. Once that bay is full then it needs turning into the next bay probably this time next year if lucky .

We leave our compost Emma as the heat builds up and decomposes everything but by turning you let the cold in and slow it down
Happy New Year Emma. You're doing very well with the composting, keep going, the magic will happen.
Thanks for the update Emma happy new year to you and your family take care.

you can put manure on the cardboard as well to keep it down, feed the soil and prevent the weeds from growing.
Blight only survives on living plants so dies as it composts down.

I think u have to stop feeding it and turn it occasionally but not too often or you lose heat....start feeding a new bin while that 1 finishes
Hope you had a wonderful Christmas. Happy New Year ! I look forward to seeing your greenhouse xx

Wish we had allotments in our village. I'm going to the parish council to put it forward at the next meeting.....Happy New Year Emma!
Good luck!
Yes best of luck with that
They’re a great way to make friends. You could always suggest a communal vegetable garden if they don’t want lots of plots
@jaynekennedy8469 Oh, they're fantastic for community! They're not without their politics, though. 😄

Some of my daffodils are flowering here in the West of Ireland, after a cold November and mild December they think it's spring

Another tip
Go to your local coffee shop and ask for some coffee grounds
Happy New year
The only secret is ....give it time. Before you know it is fine compost
Emma, please tell me where your green jacket is from? I keep meaning to ask. I love it!
You are over thinking about the compost pile, nature takes in time and you can't rush it. Just keep adding materials to the pile to feed the microbes and worms.
You cut the worms in pieces in your compost...😔 Please try to leave your compost. Happy New Year Emma 😊

Tell me if I’m wrong but I think my mum told me primroses go bavk to their natural colour
An hour in winter worth 3 in spring an old saying
