I have my own theory. There’s was a 5 year gap between Sing 1 and Sing 2. The common mouse only lives up to 2 years. Mike was NOT killed by the mafia, he simply passed away from old age before Illumination could start filming and wasn’t able to reprise his role. You may ask why didn’t Mike’s grandson take the role? Well, having to live up to the expectations of Mike’s legacy was just far too much for Mike III and he ran away, off the grid without a trace.
If they brought back Mike in Sing 3 as the main villain who’s managed to pacify the bear mafia with his charisma and is trying to bankrupt Buster under the false guise of being lied to by him (when in reality he just wants to exploit the singers under his control for himself), that would honestly be such a good twist that I’d willingly go see the movie. But then again, this is Illumination we’re talking about, they’d more than likely put a filler villain in Sing 3 than do something that creative.
I imagine that mike would be injured since last time on sing him and his girlfriend where on there car escaping the bear. Then the bear was still on the car.
When me and mom were watching the first Sing movie, we were confused when Mike and his girlfriend were driving away from the bear mafia, with a bear on the car (unbeknownst to them) and then they both just disappeared for the rest of the movie, not appearing again. We both thought it was a mistake, that the scriptwriters just forgot about him, and honestly I still believe that theory.
Notice the bear that got on the car smiled? That’s a hint often used in movies to say without showing victory for one side and literal death on the other to keep it “kid friendly” Mike was indeed eaten when the scene switched

Say what you will about his character, but at least he brought classic songs and music into a mix of modern pop music in the first film. Mike is the only one who actually got out of there. A talent agent saw him, knew they had their man, and now Mike is in Vegas performing on stage once a week at Sunset Station.
I feel like another reason Mike isn't in there, is because he moved on from the singing career in the Sing universe. In a short film featured in the Sing DVD called "Love at First Sight" there's a nod to him and his girlfriend on a movie poster as Mrs. Crawly is walking out of the local movie theater. Maybe a film agent was watching the live concert at the end of the film and heard Mike's singing voice and thought that he could be the next big thing. So the film agent finds Mike and promises fame, riches, and some protection from the bear mafia. And of course, Mike accepts the offer because he's in it for protection and the money. So now Mike is a film star and has no time for his singing partners.
My guess: seth is busy with his other works like voicing characters like Peter, stewie, Brian, quagmire, Stan, Roger And also working on the orville Too much time means not much stretched

I feel like another reason Mike isn't in there, is because he moved on from the singing career in the Sing universe. In a short film featured in the Sing DVD called "Love at First Sight" there's a nod to him and his girlfriend on a movie poster as Mrs. Crawly is walking out of the local movie theater. Maybe a film agent was watching the live concert at the end of the film and heard Mike's singing voice and thought that he could be the next big thing. So the film agent finds Mike and promises fame, riches, and some protection from the bear mafia. And of course, Mike accepts the offer because he's in it for protection and the money. So now Mike is a film star and has no time for his singing partners.
Maybe he got mauled by the bear offscreen for screwing him over in that card game. Maybe he'll appear in Sing 3 if there is one
I'm gonna miss him....but seriously I want to know why isn't he in sing 2

It would’ve been incredible if when Johnny called his dad, his dad called Mike who works with that gang of bears he was running from in the first movie and the end of sing 2 has both of those gangs defending the show together.
I really think he got “off-ed” by the bears.. if I remember correctly at the end of the first movie the bears caught up to them....I’m sure it didn’t end well 💔

I honestly think that he died because, the last time we saw Mike in the first film, he was driving off and the leader bear jumped on the back of his car without him knowing.
