For whatever reason, the existence of lion guy’s pointless arc made me realize how much better of a movie this could’ve been if it was all about him. Not even a sequel just a stand alone film. Maybe it could be a story about how lion guy got into music as a kid, always writing songs to sing to his wife, who at the time was just his best friend. His wife one day passes, and so the last thing he wants to do in her memory is to write one more song and preform it so her memory can live on in both his heart and the hearts of the public. Then the conflict is just him finally finding his groove again. But then again we need to avoid making movies interesting and even a bit emotional we just need to make wacky trailers. Deadass. The worst thing is using the word "goddess" can work without making it cringe. I mean in the owl house, Luz while talking to herself, calls her crush a "cotton candy haired goddess" and it's fine. But ngl, if some random ass dude called me a goddess I wouldn't be flattered, I'd die of cringe. That scene would've worked better if he had just said that she looked really pretty, or just that she looked really nice, maybe even that she looked very glittery.
This movie was indeed a masterpiece , I cried , I laughed , i felt every emotion (im an empath) , I also got covid from going to the cinema (recovering rn) but i have to say that watching Sing 2 was truly a once in a lifetime experience that i know for sure i will never be able to experience again , the music performances were outstanding and may i even say "out of this world" at the cinema , everyone took off their masks and sang along to the musical performances, it was so beautiful , at the end we even hugged eachother and everyone clapped when the credits rolled in. Sing 2 is going to become a classic that generations after generations are going to enjoy and become inspired by Truly a masterpiece in my book
Sing 2 is one of the best movies I've seen in the while. I went though a roller-coaster of emotions well watching it. I was sad, happy, angry, excited and hype but not only that I was moved. Sing 2 moved me in no way any movie has ever done before. It with an experience that was full of joy, laugher, singing and dancer I was completely immersed and engrossed by it.
I’m not going to lie, I only liked “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”, only because it was sung by Scarlett Johansson. I never knew she could sing, but thanks to “Set It All Free” from the first film, I’m left impressed with just her singing.
I love how the Seth MacFarlane mouse character doesn't show up in any capacity, so I'm going to assume that the bear mafia found him and he's dead in a ditch somewhere.
@@dumpsterfire4094 If I remember correctly (it has been several years since I watched the first Sing) the girlfriend mouse saves him from being swallowed and they ride off together.

I love watching a 24 frames of nick video because you can't tell what is Nick's true opinion on a movie by looking at the title/thumbnail or watching the first minutes of the video
Personally, I actually really liked Sing 2! I hate Illumination and I don't like the first movie, but watching the sequel in the theatre was actually a really fun experience! I felt like there was very little if not NO filler scenes, and every action progressed the story further (That makes it sound really grand or something but that's the only way I can explain it LOL). Obviously there were plenty of problems considering this is an Illumination kids' movie, but still, I feel like it's miles better than the first one and provides a much better viewing experience.
Perhaps there's a reason why buster moon cannot learn. Koalas are notorious for their fragility, up to the point that they can't eat anything but nutritiously void poisonous eucalyptus leaves. And you know what koalas sacrificed for that? Brain folds. Yes, koalas have no brain folds. Hence the fact they can't learn.
Dude, no. This movie is a goddamn paper tiger, there’s nothing underneath it. It’s a dumb movie with lazily-written characters that was made purely for money. That’s all it is.
The best part is when the literal children ducks, I repeat, children, are singing My Name Is. So some poor kid's parents are gonna have to deal with their kid listening to Eminem in their youth.
@@bigtomar nah i think “life repeats itself” is pretty relevant in that when eminem started making music you had a lot of parents dealing with that same thing lmfao
Honestly, a lot better than what Illumination normally puts out. I was pleasantly surprised. Even as somebody who actually quite liked the first movie, I think this one was much better
Same here. I didn't think the story itself was anything new and amazing, but at least they backed it up with fun visual spectacle and fun songs. With all the horrible shit going on in the world, having a simple story where everyone achieves something great in the end is just fine with me. And it didn't do the whole liar-reveal thing like most movies in the sequel - everyone that mattered knew from the start and was there to make it happen. In the end, the lie didn't even matter.
Oh wow, these comments are really not liking this movie. I really liked this movie, it left me in a good mood right after. I shed a tear when Clays ghost wife appeared, I felt like if my husband were to pass away when we both enjoyed something like video games I would probably struggle too to get motivation, it blinds you on why you started the hobby yknow? Sure the characters aren’t well developed and it’s the same plot line but what made the first one work was just that, it’s simple, but it works. I like it!
@@EF-kk3vh yeah totally, everyone hated the first one and I was like “I really enjoyed it, were you expecting a masterpiece?” Like it was good for what was offered, and it had a lot of heart and emotion

This movie was better than I thought it was gonna be. It was funnier than the last movie, it had good emotional moments and I was happy when Clay Calloway performed again and his wife was there in spirit.
I feel the same way about the Sing movies as I do the trolls movies. It's just something cute to sit down and watch and listen to some weirdly enjoyable song covers. My big issues with Sing 2 was that they made the porcupine fucking boring as shit, I unironically enjoyed her song from the first movie so much n they kinda just threw it away. You know the lion charter is actually based on the voice actor? Like Bono has had a similar past so his character isn't necessarily made up and I actually enjoyed the portrayal of him .
I think the issues with the sing movies can be summed up in one problem: They imply the concept of character development instead of actually developing characters. both movies feel like they are leaning over and whispering in your ear saying "dude wouldn't it be crazy if the character changed?" when the characters NEVER CHANGE. Let's talk about a good movie as an example. The classic eastern animated film Akira. From the beginning of the movie, we are shown that Tetsuo is unhappy, and feels like the control over his life is stripped from him by his relationships with his friends. This is the implication that the character WILL CHANGE. The sing movies have this. But what the sing movies do not have, is the second and third acts. Tetsuo is given the power to take control over his life, and he takes it in act 2. This is the inciting events for the character development. You could argue sing 1 also has this, but this is moreso an intermediary step than crucial to the process of character development. Then we reach act 3. The power Tetsuo holds has made him grow bitter and spiteful. Where before, he respected and looked up to his friends, now he resents them. To him, they never showed him the respect he now shows he deserved. Soon it is clear that he is no longer Tetsuo, by abusing his power to gain respect he let the power take over his life. He realizes he no longer has the control he fought so hard to gain, and feels regret for his actions. Now where, WHERE do we see ol' Buster say "hey wait a minute, if i wasn't such a scummy douche koala bastard boy, maybe the show wouldn't be such a disaster!"? Nowhere. Instead, the movie just implies the idea of character resolution by having the feel good ending where they throw the show anyways. And if you were tricked by that in the first movie, the second movie only makes it more apparent, as the second you see him you realize he's exactly the same as the beginning of the first movie.
This ESP cause it’s an ensemble film so each character only gets so much screen time so some stuff you gotta like guess for yourself I guess. Like with Porsha (the villain’s daughter). When the lizard lady goes to get her I assumed we’d see her get like a pep talk or something like “hey ur dad sucks don’t listen to him you just gotta belieeeeve” yknow that whole spiel , but instead lizard lady sneaks out to her bedroom window, tells in a 5 second scene to get her ass too set, next cut she’s at the theatre and is like haha yea I was a drama Queen Like where was the development lol Wish we got more time with Clay and Ash bonding too , that scene with her singing one of his songs on his porch was honestly rly nice
We're going to have Sing 3, so Sing 2 is actually probably a slap of 'do this again or you'll mess up', a start of giving upgrades and realization for the characters so that they could be prepared for their next chapter of their story. Buster got traumatized because someone who's fairly angry enough to make him shiver in fear for trespassing? Check. Meena finally forces herself to make ways on how to be confident on her own, finally got a love life? Check. Ash already got her character developed as she's finally free from being held down by men who think she's less worth. Already a check. Nana Noodleman supporting Moon and giving him encouragement and let him know about his morals that she saw in him ever since the first movie? Check. Johnny finding confidence to play a new skill, balancing disciplined determination and passion for new and old talents, also made new friends along the way? Check. Rosita, a mother with a dream and passion, found a reason to conquer her fears as saving Buster, but also metaphorically trying to save the show and her new found family. Porsha, a new main character of the crew, finally set herself free from her father's emotional abuse, and got the guts to say a metaphorical 'fuck you'' to his face for leaving her with less attention from him, so he deserved that abandonment, and finally found her new family as she had apologized for being immature? Check. Clay Calloway, an old retired singer trying to cope from his wife's death, accepted help from his fan and took that one step to start a new fresh chapter of his story without Ruby and accepts to move on and go? Check. Jimmy.... he knew he deserved the jail time. Although this guy gotta stop being an asshole and take some therapy. He had been shown to be stress-eating throughout the movie. But in anyways, this is just my review on their character developments, may not be exact or I may have missed something. But I respect your opinion. There are good points.
Sing 2 was good - No Breakup Plot, consistent throughout - The Plot Points actually kinda go places in the final musical -If you consider the film as its own thing, you might like it more -it explores plays more, and the show is pretty good It's Not Perfect, but it's pretty enjoyable Here's something some reveiwers need to learn : STOP PRESENTING YOUR NITPICKS AS MAJOR CRITISICM!
Agreed. Nick tries to present his nitpicking as major criticism but the movie was good if you go in expecting to watch a movie. Sure, I agree with his nitpicking, BUT these nitpicks don't make the movie a terrible movie.
agreed! the plot was pretty solid. sure the production worked out way better than it would in real life what with the super short prep time for both sets and performances (which would be my major nitpick), but it’s a kids movie ffs ofc it would be unrealistic💀 you’re supposed to suspend disbelief for these kinds of things. i discovered tori kelly thru these movies too so they’re pretty meaningful to me 😂
The only thing I know from this movie is that clip of the wolf getting out of bed naked to the horrors of others, so I can see why Nick likes this movie very much.
My niece cries with sheer and absolute terror whenever the trailer for this movie comes on TV. This is not a joke. Imagine being such a bad movie your trailer makes toddlers cry.
Seeing RBG holding up the middle finger in a video essay of a grown man ranting about a cruddy children’s movie is some kind of bliss I never thought I’d reach
I feel this should’ve been a series, like he said, there are a lot of setups and no an actual earned payoff. Like Porscha, she has the best character in the movie and the dilemma with her father needs work. I want a 3rd Sing (yes pin me Daddy x3) but instead of Butter Moon taking the lead role, I want the rest of the gang to show us parts of their life after meeting the new characters. Edit: Holy cow thanks for the likes :0
I think it would be cool to have a part where Porscha moves on away from her father’s mistakes and there’s like a scene where she’s visiting him in jail or somethin saying she’s moved on
When my husband and I were dating, we went to the movies A LOT. We couldn’t drink and there wasn’t much to do in our small town. We had ran out of things to do so we watched Sing in theaters. I thought “yep, that was a way to pass an hour and a half”.
The only downside side of this movie is that it forgets about Seth MacFarlane mouse and John C Riley sheep friend and never mentions or acknowledges their existence
What's weird is that the grandma sheep does appear in this movie so why wasn't John C Riley sheep even mentioned? As for Seth MacFarlane mouse, he's totally dead, the bears got him. 😭
Honestly though, and they literally could've fixed both of those so easily. For the sheep, you could've literally just had the grandma mention that he's on vacation or something so he's not gonna be there, and for the mouse one of the main cast, maybe Rosita could just ask where he is and Buster could say "Oh he's on a honeymoon with his wife." Or something like that.
Here in korea the title was Sing 2gether which I thought was pretty clever I didnt watch the first one so I didnt have much expectations for it but it was better than I expected. The character development takes huge leaps that you have to magically fill in with your own imagination but the songs were nice. Also fuck the koala
I found it slightly better than the first one,the story was more engaging and fun. The new designs... eeeugh, not much. The lion dilf is the exception tho,he's hot. There's also a chubby borneo monke that is fun to watch.
I honestly enjoyed this movie. Sure, it has the typical plot of any other kids movie these days. But I thought the characters were much more charming in this movie. They left a more lasting impact on me over the first one. And the animation is over the top good, as well as including System of a Down, U2, and Coldplay (incorporating those three bands in one movie is impressive in and of itself). Halsey's wolf character was adorable as well, and I think she had a lot of development over the course of the movie. Was it a cash grab? Yes, but so is literally every kids movie anymore. So for me, I could be upset about the little things or just enjoy the movie for what it is.
In defense of the movie, it does a good job of portraying Koalas. Koalas are horrid little men who would steal all of your money. This is because they eat only brain-shrinking leaves.
4:07 I mean the first two Discpicaple Me movies are good, with the first of course being better. The Minions weren't annoying in the first. Despicable Me was made at a time when Illumination actually tried, now it's just money.
I’ve got a theory: Nick has two sides, his hate side and his love side most of the time the hate side comes out but every once in a while the love side comes out or, they even join together.
@@bighand1530 Agreed. Just the fact that Chris Pratt of all people was casted as Mario gives me very little hope. I wish the movie rights had gone to Sony instead. Then at least there's a chance for it to actually be decent.

@@zrexy79s11 That's why I said I'm not sure about the 3rd one, the 2 previous were oddly great, the 3rd just felt strange, and it'd definitely be not something everyone would like, I just considered it passable since it didn't entirely ruin the franchise, while the Minions? Same, I actually slept for a little while before the film ended...
I genuinely love both of these movies lmao. I’m 17 and the first movie was a bonding thing with my dad. We’d watch it over and over and talk about it allllll the time. I even have the Scarlett Johansson song on my playlist 😭 Tbh the movies aren’t great but I live for them and will talk them up for the rest of my life lmao
Buster Moon nearly died for his lies too many times, if they'll make another movie (I hope they won't) and he'll be stuck in the same situation he's canonically braindead.
Kinda suits his character cuz real koalas are pretty much braindead, their brains have no wrinkles so they're incredibly stupid to the point that they fail to recognize leaves as food if you put the leaves on a plate in front of them. Also they evolved to eat poisonous leaves with little to no nutrients and said leaves make them high AF.
If the Sing movies were just about Johnny then I would’ve loved them more, but other then that I still actually enjoyed these movies, even though I agree with a lot of what Nicks saying.
I like both of these movies. not because of brilliant plot or amazing development, definitely not, but because you can just watch it and vibe with it. The nonsense and wholesome ends just give endorphin
Thought the movie was gonna be a cash grab when i watched the first part but when finishing it, it was such a great movie bru and i didnt expect that. It was way better than the first one IMO.
I thought the same, everything surprised me. I thought the bull guy that sang with Meena was gonna be an antagonist but he didn't turn out to be that way.
@@kaylarob4710 It was strange. He may be egotistical and a narcissist, but that didn't make him a bad guy. I mean look at it this way, despite all of the doubts and hesitation Meena was having, he still stuck with her through all of the practices and rehearsals, he never gave up on her.
I like how this koala just lies and lies and the "wolf"? has every right to be upset and the production knew it so they just turned him into an murder at the end so the protagonist's dont look like as*holes even in fact...they are
That's some protagonist centric morality right there. Yeah, sure, have the character we're meant to like lie through his teeth and have everything work out for him ever so conveniently while the character that was lied to is made into a complete asshole because plot demands it. Legit, fuck this amateur character writing.
I agree. Buster 100% had every right to have his ass handed to him because he is a lying bastard. However, the fact that he didn't give two shits about literally calling his daughter a "talentless loser" made me dislike him more than him trying to kill Buster. What they should've done is have the wolf arrested because he was legit a murderer. BUT the movie should've ended with Buster being on house arrest, or just receiving some kind of consequence because he literally never faces any consequences for his actions. Which is really disappointing since he's the only character in both movies who didn't receive some kind of development.
@@bluebird1914 "However, the fact that he didn't give two shits about literally calling his daughter a "talentless loser" made me dislike him more than him trying to kill Buster." Deadass.

We all have our opinions, and I respect yours.
This
ESP cause it’s an ensemble film so each character only gets so much screen time so some stuff you gotta like guess for yourself I guess.
Like with Porsha (the villain’s daughter). When the lizard lady goes to get her I assumed we’d see her get like a pep talk or something like “hey ur dad sucks don’t listen to him you just gotta belieeeeve” yknow that whole spiel , but instead lizard lady sneaks out to her bedroom window, tells in a 5 second scene to get her ass too set, next cut she’s at the theatre and is like haha yea I was a drama Queen
Like where was the development lol
Wish we got more time with Clay and Ash bonding too , that scene with her singing one of his songs on his porch was honestly rly nice
I respect this, this is a good breakdown of the issues with the movie, not the pile of hate that is the video above us.
@@sketchyjulia yeah, I would have liked that as well
We're going to have Sing 3, so Sing 2 is actually probably a slap of 'do this again or you'll mess up', a start of giving upgrades and realization for the characters so that they could be prepared for their next chapter of their story.

Honestly though, and they literally could've fixed both of those so easily. For the sheep, you could've literally just had the grandma mention that he's on vacation or something so he's not gonna be there, and for the mouse one of the main cast, maybe Rosita could just ask where he is and Buster could say "Oh he's on a honeymoon with his wife." Yeah, sure, have the character we're meant to like lie through his teeth and have everything work out for him ever so conveniently while the character that was lied to is made into a complete asshole because plot demands it.
Legit, fuck this amateur character writing.
BRUH THAT WAS I WAS THINKING

"However, the fact that he didn't give two shits about literally calling his daughter a "talentless loser" made me dislike him more than him trying to kill Buster."
I guarantee you that was only included just to make Jimmy out as an irremediable bastard, it's literally a checklist with this character:
*Stoic with the way he criticizes others
*Aggressive to the little people
*A shit father to his daughter
*Would kill someone
It's amateur character writing as if to drive home the point that "he is the bad guy and you are not supposed to like him."
No thanks, I actually want him to obliterate Moon.
THIS 11 MIN VIDEO MADE ME LAUGH MORE THAN A MOVIE MADE BY A MULTIMILLION DOLLAR STUDIO
Sing 2 was possibly the most I've ever laughed in a movie theater and it had nothing to do with any intentional humor
