I watch tons of your videos I've fished for years and I'm still learning how to fish a river that has walleye year round and the lure and jig strategy is always changing some days they crush everything and some days it will be consistent shad color plastic or hard bait stick and cranks .
I know forward facing sonar is a bit controversial, for some, but what a great learning tool...to be able see how your bait moves and to see how fish relate too it is huge from a learning curve perspective. Thanks again Tom for the great content!
@@earlshannon1048 I’m an old guy too but I’m thinking about rigging my Vexilar flasher transducer to a piece of pvc pipe so that it faces outward. Bore a hole in the pvc and stick a dowel through it so it will hang in the hole. Spin it around to see what’s out there. A lot cheaper than a $2500 gadget, if it works.
That thin of ice(anything less than 10") just drill 2 holes right by each other when using live imaging, the fish will come back to the area after the noise is done. This makes life way easier.
Thanks for all the great info Tom. I'm 62 years old and went ice fishing for the first time last year and am hooked. I'm getting the gear and have alot to learn. Scheels gives these sizes in the Hyper T. What size did you use here in this video? HT1 Size 1 #10 Hook HT2 Size 2 #8 Hook HT3 Size 3 #6 Hook Thanks again,
Hey Tom and Mitch, thank you very much for your contact in 2023. Learned a bunch again! Happy new year and be safe. What order do you guys use in combination with your drill? Thank you again.
No ice here in PA yet. Some buddies and i bought the new acme beaver dam rods with the titanium tip that slides in and out. Have you used those for pan fish? Will you have a video using those?
Have you had a chance to try the new vrod (the 1/8)? It just seems to want to flip upside down and hook the line. Can't seem to get any action out of it. Just can't get that blade bait flutter. 8lb fluorocarbon.
Tom I cant believe you went crappie fishing without the Shelbster sounds like a dangerous move lol! Thanks for the video but really be careful there's a rescue going on again at Red Lake the ice is really unpredictable 😳
Sir, quick question, what length cord are you running from the head unit to the pole, I am having a hard time finding a shorter one, it seems like the shortest is about 10'. Your set up maybe the same however it looks like you are better managed than I am right now. Always appreciate the videos and the tips/tricks.
Nice video as always Tom! Looks like I need to go buy some more lures!😊 Another different snowmobile! Polaris to an Artic Cat and then a Ski Doo! Cool! Which one do you like best?
Maybe a clinch knot to that kinda has that style of wetting the line. Make a loop 6-7 wraps around tail end back through the loop wet the leg and pull it tight.
trouble is all this techno stuff is ruining fishing, I see many boats on a reef, never fished before but now imaging, gets hit every day. Used to be a spot that was a refuge for walleyes, no more hiding spots , and less fish because of it all. Wish it was all banned,
Short and sweet video!! This is the type of video I love!!!❤
Pretty neat walking into my local scheels and seeing a lure kiosk with your face on it! Keep it up! Love the videos!

The itch for walleye under the ice is real. Watching you tom makes me want to fish fr

Thanks for watching. Yeah ffs helps learn what really goes on down there
Hmmm, what’s controversial about it? I don’t have one but am curious.
The people who don’t like ffs, don’t have one. If and when ya ever use one, you won’t want to ever fish without it.
I know I'd love it if I could learn it. Old guys aren't real good with technology lol😅😅😅

Great video !
Tom thanks for taking the time to talk and take a picture at Oconomowoc Fleet and farm .

Thanks Tom, Happy Holidays to Everyone 👍🏻
Fun and entertaining video. I need to get a crappie program figured out on my home water,...when we finally get ice.
we used to have to sight these weeds. it's awesome to save time and get on weeds fast. nice work
Cool video and jig!! Thought I was done purchasing jigs for this year but guess not!! That tungsten jig looks good!!
Weeeeed Salt N Pepppas! Freakin cool vid, that was fun seeing em in the weeds!

Thanks again,
Wath a beautiful fish, love gills ❤❤
Good video, why don’t you drill a separate hole for the transducer
Hey Tom and Mitch, thank you very much for your contact in 2023. Learned a bunch again! Happy new year and be safe. What order do you guys use in combination with your drill? Thank you again.
Auger
Hey Tom! Will the 42 noodle also handle the smaller 1 inch hyper rattle? Looking for the all around crappie rod. Looked at the odyssey as well in 40”.
awesome footage, I really enjoyed seeing the crappie coming up for your bait! H far above the fish were you trying to keep your bait would you say?

I hate ice fishing all day and hole hopping just to get a few fish on the line but I guess it's part of the game. Better than staying home too
What kind of reel do you use in winter ?
Very nice. What rod?
Tom I cant believe you went crappie fishing without the Shelbster sounds like a dangerous move lol! Thanks for the video but really be careful there's a rescue going on again at Red Lake the ice is really unpredictable 😳
I'll get the shebster out there
Ok, I’ll ask it…. so can any transducer be mounted at a 90 deg and have it show what is out there?
Not really. Live shows actual detail and shape and way more range
Man you’ve got me itching to get on some ice. Unfortunately the NEK still doesn’t have any ice
Tom, what knot did you use to tie that jig on?
Clynch knot
Very nice crappies I love catching them too.
What is your fish finder I never see one

I tuck as much as possible into the soft sided case
Jelly! Still open water down in Madison
I know.... Strange year
NICE 👍👍👍
🎣 🇺🇸
Could 1/16th Pinhead minnows and tikka flashes be ran on the evolution 42 noodle? What are your thoughts
I would probably prefer the Patagonia XL for those type of baits. That rod is in the Elliott line up as well
Nice video as always Tom! Looks like I need to go buy some more lures!😊 Another different snowmobile! Polaris to an Artic Cat and then a Ski Doo! Cool! Which one do you like best?
I loved my bearcat but so far the ski doo is by far the coolest machine I have had
Do u break alot of Elliot open water rods? I sure do. Ice rods have been awesome
I don't. I baby my rods though
What size do you recommend #1 #2 or #3.?
2 & 3
Awesome!! Ordering online. It’s tough so know without seeing them. Thank you so much
I've caught my biggest crappie well after dark.
What knot do you use for jigs?
Looked like a fisherman’s knot to me.
Maybe a clinch knot to that kinda has that style of wetting the line. Make a loop 6-7 wraps around tail end back through the loop wet the leg and pull it tight.
Tom
Great video love catching crappies. What rod are you running?
I figured out the rod. Good luck this ice season. Man can’t wait for ice down here in south central Iowa. Weather needs to get cold.
What rod case was that?
What size jig were you using ?
3mm
@TomBoley Acme doesn't describe it as 3mm, I'm assuming it's the HT3 hook #6, 1.5 gr?
Nice
yesssssssssssssss
🎣
Really like that pole that the transducer cord goes into and out the top ! My pole for my boat does that but not my Summit Pole for ice fishing
Yeah the TKI pole is awesome👍
Ohhhhh that white chigger fry…did you get those from PFP?
Yessir
Well good on ya for staying locally loyal. Ya love to see it. That’s probably my favorite plastic. God Bless Wisconsin
Who is PFP?
What’s the exact model number of that rod? Thanks
42Noodle
Thanks. What rod bag do you use that holds those longer rods?
why don't you keep a few for a fish fry
Once in awhile I will
Crappies suck .... Yellow Perch Rule 😋 ..... Venison back strap steak is done too 😘😘
What is this nonsense lol we come here for walleye content.

How about we all practice catch and release?
@@TomBoley that means limit of 1 AND I AM ALL FOR IT , I KEPT 2 ALL SUMMER GOOD LUCK TO YOU
You don't gotta do nothing. And don't want to hear your catching fish for us. Just knock it off. Stop glorifying fishing
Any lure would've work😂😂😂 new lure..🤦 stop it noob.
55* over the weekend in Central OHIO🧊🕳️🎣
