So many people advised me to directly apply, but I was very sceptical as I thought it showed me an inferior light since I didn't have a PhD research question, just a broad area of interest in mind. You are right that PhD studentship projects are mostly for UK students as most dont offer international fees and the difference is significant.
I just have a feeling that most of the most European top universities favor the GPA over research outputs. In the case that a candidate who doesn't have a high GPA (high here means at least 1-2% in their cohort), they should have very excellent research outputs or international awards. At some points, I just wanna give up because I realized that I am at a medium level of everything: top 20% GPA and some minor publications.
Hey if you already have publications that's major! Many PhD students at Oxford don't have publications. So don't give up, just remember to craft your PS to highlight your research output. You'll get there :)
Hello Hira Ma'am First of all, I would like to thank you to provide such informative videos, I would request to provide some information regarding PhD in AI Marketing or give me some references where I can collect the information regarding the same and also how can I find the Supervisor for the same.
I did BSc Biomedical Sciences and MSc Cancer but that's just one route. You don't have to follow the exact route. Any related degree will also suffice.
Are you international student? If so what are expenses for each semester? Is there a scholorship avialble? Even then, what are the out of pocket expenses?
Hi there! Yes I am an international student and have a scholarship from the university. Rent would be your biggest expense. Rent+bills around £700-1000/month depending on where you live, food between £150-250/month depending on if you cook or eat out, if you take the bus that could be £80 or if you buy a bicycle around £80-150, then you could bike everywhere. The rest depends on how much you shop, travel, spend on entertainment etc. Hope that helps!
Hey, I like your videos. They are really helpful to me as I am starting to prepare for applying to Oxford for my PhD. I too have some questions! 1. I have completed my masters in zoology in India, but I would like to do my PhD in human genetics, and I some additional qualification like six months certificate course in genetics and currently pursuing my PG diploma in molecular diagnostics. Is there any chance that I can apply for phd in genetics there at Oxford with these qualifications? 2. Will there be any problem because of my gap. Because I graduated in 2021 but did those courses after that? 3. I have attended certain exam here in India they demand for fellowships here for phd, but I did qualify CSIR examination but I had only the grades that could get me eligibility for assistant professor and I have also qualified another exam called GATE - XL. here. Will there be any relevance of these exams for applying for phd there at Oxford? Sorry, my questions are big, but I would like to know the reply from if you are comfortable with it. ☺️
Hi there! 1. Yes that sounds like you have the relevant educational background. The rest depends on grades and research experience. 2. No it won't be a problem. If they ask you can tell them you did diplomas in the meantime. 3. If you want to highlight some of your achievements through this exam on your personal statement, you could do that. Otherwise the learning from these exams is probbaly more important Hope that helps!
Masm! I emailed a professor. And he emailed me that you are welcome to join my griup. Now, he emailed ne for interview and asked me to prepare 5 min presentation on my research experience. Should i make a ppt presentation or just oral presentation
What about international students? Are there any scholarships available for international students? Moreover, I was doing a PhD here in my place, but due to some reasons I had to quit. So I would like to continue PhD abroad. I have a fair amount of research experience.
I would recommend finding a fully funded PhD project from the start instead of trying to find scholarships afterwards because they are way more competitive. I made a recent video about this here: ruclips.net/video/Xl2OYhVzSew/видео.html
Hi hira! I have done my mph from uk and have a publication. I was thinking of applying for a dphil project in autoimmune diseases but one of the requirements was to contact supervisors first and get a verbal agreement for supervision. Has the rule changed this year?
Hi! It varies programme to programme. I've made two more recent videos on phd applications that might help you a bit more as I get into the diff ways you can get into a PhD programme: 1. Hello Mam , My graduation in Mathematics (honours) and my master degree in international relations. Can I eligible for Dphil in international relations in Oxford University. From India
Ma'am i read all commets and saw you repled all commets that's why i give you my ❤❤❤. Ma'am i want to do PhD in Oxford University but i belong to lower middle class i can't effort for Oxford fee and living expenses. Can i get any scholarship from Oxford sides. My pg completed 2021 with 79℅ marks. Please ma'am guide me..... ❤
University scholarships are quite difficult to get because there are very few scholarships for international students, but it's not impossible! You should look at findaphd.com to find funded PhD projects. You should also try to apply to some scholarship schemes in your home country, usually there are schemes to send students to do MS or PhD in the UK. Good luck :)
Hey Hira, Just wanted to ask you if a gap after your masters for like 2 years with a small research training experience makes you eligible...like is it necessary that you had to make full use of that time gap..... please if you have time can you give a reply. Thank you

Thank you Hira! Your videos really help me a lot.
Lots of DPhils at Oxford have a requirement of a 1st Class degree (if from UK) and no lower is accepted for those courses
Thank You so much Respected Ma'am Hira
May ALLAH bless you ❤

Not at all! Sometimes gap years are taken for personal reasons and it's not an expectation that you'd be doing work or research in that time :)
