this is by far the best language learning program ive ever used. I did a few lessons and stopped for like 6 months but i still remembered everything i was taught for the first time trying to learn a language.
Wow! We're glad FluentU had a wonderful effect on your language learning. Thank you for sharing this feedback. 😊
@Mike 😂
Can you use the app for one language beyond the 30 days?
@Mike and whats so bad about that?
@@toasted-kitten nothing bad about it, just weebs being weebs
I fully agree with this review! For me, these cons actually make Pimsleur perfect for me. I already learned grammar, reading and writing in high school/college. I want to enhance my listening and speaking skills, as I can read Spanish well but have problems understanding it when spoken.
Explicitly studying grammar is pointless imo
This was my problem with Duolingo. No matter how much I learned and advanced, I never felt confident in conversation. I couldn't think of the words I wanted or how to form them into different sentences.
My problem with using Pimsleur was that I originally tried using it while sitting in a chair and following along, and was incredibly bored. Now I go for daily bike rides/walks and listen and it's so much more enjoyable while doing something else.
One thing to mention is that all the courses are in English with the exception of Learning English courses for other languages.
If you're not a native speaker it leads to a situation where you're learning a foreign language through the lens of another foreign language, so you need solid grasp of English first...
Pimsleur is useful but it assumes you are about to be a tourist and going out on lots of dates. I use a combo of Pimsleur & Mondly and other avenues.
I have been using Pimsleur for years and your review is spot on. Regarding Busuu, I tried their French for six months, and for me, it was not very effective. I've been using Speakly now for about the same amount of time and find it more engaging with better results.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. You might want to give FluentU a try 😊 link.fluentu.com/00h
Been using Duolingo but wanted something i could also do while driving or doing other activities. This looks like it could be a great compliment. Thanks for the review!
I love Pimsler, great review. It does get boring at times but I have alot of interest in the language I'm learning and that keeps me going. You have to love what you do. I just retain more using this app myself than with others. I also have language books I learn from as well.
Thank you for the feedback! 😊
Hi! Which books can you recommend for learning French?
Pimsleur complements Assimil really well
This video helped me decide to give this a try!
Thanks for the video, my guy!
👌
Pimsleur is great! for me one of the beste programs out there!!!
Only boring when you TRY to memorize the vocabulary. I've realized with language learning, especially with a program like pimsleur, your not supposed to be interacting with the language trying too hard to memorize words but rather allow yourself to take the wonderful journey into a new world of a new language to speak to people you couldn't before. So if you follow along with that in mind it actually can be very fun and enjoyable and you will WANT to talk out loud.
French people are extremely proud of their language, if you have a french friend, conversations with them would be very helpful
I use assimil+ pimsleur. Super
Agreed. They work well together.
I came across great reviews about the app fluentU. But the language I wanted to learn was Vietnamese, Ideally northern accent as it is easier to learn for westerners.
Kindly introduce Vietnamese into the category, ready to subscribe!
Thanks for the suggestion, Dave! This is noted.
Is there something like fluentu for learning Greek?
It’s great just wish the speed rounds weren’t limited to transliteration only
Now it has gamification, plus it has reading and writing exercises. I think in learning depends on how invested you are in learning the language, and how you take advantage of your resources. I do transliterations that helps me practice pronoun I atinó and at the same time I memorize the vocab. I also use the gamification and do all the reading exercises by writing the words.. although it’s basic it is a good start and helps you discipline for language learning.
Could anyone tell me if the lessons or dialogs are "read along" I have a visual memory, if the lessons are only spoken, I won't be able to remember anything. Thanks.
You can read along, there's a "Speak Easy" section that basically shows you the main text of the conversation. However, it's recommended to first listen to the text without looking at it. There's also free trials you can sign up for to see if it's for you
Plzzz help mehhh I started doing the Japanese lesson and only got lesson 1 I can’t get lesion twooooo

what the hell is wrong with you
Achei a avaliação um pouco tendenciosa, considerando inclusive a constante propaganda a aplicativos recomendados pelo apresentador. No entanto, boa parte do que ele fala sobre Pimsleur é verdade. Minha experiência diz que Pimsleur é bem menos chato que Open English, por exemplo.
Is this worth it to learn Portuguese? I'm going to Rio end of January 2023 and want to learn basic conversation please let me know.
What happened?

Like Languages Pod101?
Я использую пимслеур чтобы выучить по-русски 🎉
How is the Russian lessons?
Shouldn't that be a yes or no answer?
Thanks, this review is REALLY helpful! (Also, you're cute)
Thank you! 😊
I wonder what foreigns think about Nazareth from a Brazilian soup opera at 1:58 😂😂
She’s been a part of our meme culture for years!
What’s the best route for Spanish
Assimil, Pimsleur, and Anki for vocab.
2:43 😂😂
Don't think I'll bother.
Reading and writing is absolutely essential for learning a language properly.
I don’t think pimsluer is the best at least not for Spanish! apps like Memrise with videos of natives speaking are much better and babble podcast and live lessons pushes pimsluer out the door!
I just want something that teacher usable, realistic sentences and phrases.. I get the whole "it's about understanding concept" etc but honestly Duolingo just sucks.... Absolutely awful
"My aunt is looking for the Kiosk please" OH just teach me how to say "Did you sleep OK" or "Is anyone hungry" I mean fs....
Anyway... Hoping some people with experience can tell me if its worth the £20 per month
those are pretty massive cons
How so? Some degree of boredom comes with studying anything.
@@belphegor_dev used it for the past month studying Turkish. I think he made it sound worse than it actually is.
chinese is not a language
What is it?XD
Fr 💀
I think they meant to say Chinese isn’t correct but Mandarin is
No ones cares
