- Alex from Captive Creations explains how he built some round timber windows from victorian ash hardwood. They will be used in a SuperAdobe dome built on a property in bacchus marsh, VIC Australia. More info can be found at www.curvatecture.com
Hi Alex, did you get s chance to post the secondary video with you making the hinged door/glass window part. Very interested as I'm following your design as a complete rookie tobuild two round windows for my tiny house. Please please please reply. Thanks in advance Sal.
Nice shorts 😂
weres part two?
Thought a girl was doing the second part at first ......
I really wanna see it with the door on it. Sooo good. I'm wondering if i can make one without all the fancy equipment...or less fancy equipment
Great video, did you ever get around to making Pt II as promised?
Nice 👍 n can tell the size of bits u used for round timber ... joe
3 years and no promised second video. Now I have to find another series because this one is useless.
Great window, do you make those for sale? I’m a stained glass artist, who needs round window frames.
Why in pieces instead of just making the whole wheel out of the whole piece of wood there by no piece just a solid piece?
Great work but this is hard shit to do for an amateur like me :(
How can i make a round and oval frame for streching my canvas
Hey Alex - can you make 2 for me? How much?
Hi Hayden , may I ask were you bought the unibond polyurethane glue , I used this product for 10 years then this vanished of the market and in internet searches in Australia as well, this is a great product and there is a equivalent but not as good as unibond , I have used to fix squeaks in t&g platform floors and dodgy stair cases with not enough wedges etc , were are you buying from ? And may I ask a secondary question , what is your band saw and what is the maximum cut height of the bandsaw and type your using as I am about to buy one in near future.
Hi Tom,
the brands "sika" and "unibond" now make this adhesive and i just found it in Bunnings the other day

beautiful work!!
I mean, glued pieces can deform in the future and people would be able to see that it was in ''pieces'' not a solid piece.
pieces that big are not commonly available. Properly glued up laminations don't deform, they are stronger than single boards.
@@wadepatton2433 depends where you're buying the piece, in Mass you can find it, expensive but we have them.
Wouldn't the short grain on those side bits make the window prone to splitting?
Hi Kaizer,
in my experience as long as the frames are waterproofed and finished correctly there shouldn't be a problem.
thanks for you feedback 👍👷
If you joined one half with the short grain to the other half with long grain, splitting would not be an issue. However I am of the belief that end grain should not be exposed. I made mine in a sandwich also, with no end grain. A little more difficult
Yes that’s correct. To make a circular window you should cut multiple long grain segments and laminate them on top of each other in a staggered fashion.
