Gonna try for a marathon for the entire franchise: The Phantom Menace Attack of the Clones The Clone Wars Revenge of the Sith Rebels Rogue One A New Hope Empire Strikes Back Return of the Jedi The Force Awakens The Last Jedi
Another good way to watch the first 6 films is the Ring Order: - TPM - ANH - AOTC - TESB - ROTS - ROTJ Compared to the Machete Order, which basically asks you to halt/detach yourself from the characters to diverge in a completely different direction (let alone skip the goddamn ORIGIN story for Palpatine's rise to power), this order works much better. It allows you to watch the saga without a bias towards one trilogy over the other like the production order might, doesn't spoil the movies or the plot twists like the Episode order, and doesn't damage the story like the Machete Order.
Phantom menace 7/10 Attack of the clones 7.5/10 Clone wars 7.5/10 Revenge of the Sith 9/10 Rogue one 8.5/10 A new hope 9/10 Empire strikes back 10/10 Return of the Jedi 9.5/10 Force awakens 8/10 The last jedi 6.5/10 Rise of Skywalker 6.5/10
Best order: 1. The Phantom Menace. 2. Attack of the Clones. 3. Clone Wars (2003). 4. Revenge of the Sith. 5. The Force Unleashed. 6. A New Hope. 7. The Empire Strikes Back. 8. Return of the Jedi.
For me 4-6, 1-3, 7-9 is the best way to watch them (4-6 to get you hooked, 1-3 to understand the backstory then 7-9 to see the conclusion) however the Machete order is a good way to watch them and you’re right about including episode 1. Only problem with the Machete order is that the Luke-Leia twist in epsiode 6 is spoilt in episode 3, and Vader’s redemption is hinted at. However it does make, in my opinion, Yoda’s death in episode 6 a bit more emotional because you know him more, and it makes the emperor’s final defeat and Vader’s redemption more satisfying
Sheldon is right, fool! Ernst Rister Order is the best order, not Machete Order, because you need the stupid trade route talks, and Jar Jar (unfortunately), because the rise of the Empire is all his fault. I just watched Last Jedi last night, and it's amazing.
Yes. Sheldon can be difficult. But he is right about watching them in numerical order. (1,2,3,4,5,6) This way, by the time "A New Hope" (4) comes, you now understand who Darth Vader is. It's all the more powerful. (Especially when he and Ben meet.) With this viewing order, you can clearly see that Darth Vader wants revenge. (Not only did Ben defeat him, but it's because of Ben that Darth Vader is forced to live in an artificial state.)
eternalhalloween1 I couldn't agree more! Whenever I hear someone say you should watch them in the order of release I feel the need to check them for brain damage! It just makes no sense to me!!!
Somehow I missed your comment Vignesh. It's probably just a matter of finding what advantages are important to you, and what disadvantages you can tolerate. Whether you go 1,2,3,4,5,6 OR 4,5,6,1,2,3, OR 4,5,1,2,3,6 , you're going to have advantages and disadvantages. One strange but interesting order I read about is 4,1,2,5,3,6. He starts with 4 (to see how it all began), flashbacks to 1 seeing the Republic in its glory, goes to 2, (sees the war starting), flash forwards to 5 seeing the war in full force and getting the big twist. Then he flashes back to 3 to see the story of the twist, and then flash forwards to 6 to finish. It's strange, but kind of interesting.
Somehow I missed your comment Luke. I know a friend who said depending on her mood, she'll go either 1,2,3,4,5,6 or 4,5,6,1,2,3. One interesting order I read about (even though it's not one of the 3 legitimate options) is (1,2,4,5, 3, R1, 6). 1,2, (see Obi Wan train Anakin before the fall), flash forward to 4 hear Obi Wan speak well of Luke's father, go to 5, get the big twist, flash back to 3, see what happened, insert "Rogue One" (seeing Darth Vader at his most powerful after you've seen who he is), then finish with 6. It's not a bad idea really.
Order of release is for first watch through so you get the twist and you can enjoy the prequels more because you get backstory on kenobi and yoda and anakin and palpatine. Then numerical order for the revenge story
@@aditikhedkar8514 I've seen them thousands of times. And really I only put them on while I'm playing games or working around the house. I'll watch them with my niece though, but she's only four. All she knows about Star Wars is Darth Vader's the bad guy and she likes R2-D2.

Hmmm, I might give the machete order a try sometime, but not for a while yet because I have only just finished watching the movies in I-VII order. People complain about The Force Awakens ruining the ending of Return of the Jedi. To me, it only ruins the ending if you've been watching the movies in I-VI order and watching the Special Editions of IV-VI. Because obviously I-VI deals with Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. If you skip the prequels and start with the original trilogy and then continue with The Force Awakens onwards, the first three movies establish the original characters and then the new movies sees the return of the characters as well as introducing new characters. Since the theatrical ending of Return of the Jedi doesn't show other planets celebrating the defeat of the Empire and it's Yub Nub instead of Victory Celebration, the addition of The Force Awakens doesn't ruin the ending as much as it does for the Special Edition IMO. So, if you're watching the prequels first and the Special Editions of the original trilogy afterwards, then it's probably best to finish at Return of the Jedi. The same goes with the machete order as Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith would be watched as flashbacks showing how Anakin Skywalker became Darth Vader. Either way, I personally like the prequels as well as The Force Awakens. And I look forward to The Last Jedi.
@@anitabonghit7606 Yep, that's how they describe the machete order. I agree though, I personally love Episode I and wouldn't wanna skip it. @@jorgeluisolmosnarugeorge7799 It was a bummer that Maul and Dooku were quickly thrown away in the prequels and that Dooku's motivations are found in a deleted scene. Nevertheless, the Clone Wars and the Tales of the Jedi did a great job clearing that up.
