In this For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) guitar lesson video series, I will show you how to play this incredible hard rock classic by AC/DC note-for-note.
We will be using standard tuning just like the original recording.
In the first video lesson, I will show you how to play all of the rhythm guitar parts. The second video will cover Angus Young's first guitar solo and the third video will cover his outro solo.
The intro is played by Angus Young and he uses hybrid picking (using a pick and fingers together). I will demonstrate how to play this riff with both hybrid picking or standard fingerpicking so that you can play it the way that feels the most comfortable to you.
Malcolm Young eventually enters with a chord progression under this intro that is also the chorus of the song.
When the verse arrives, there is one section of it that Malcolm and Angus play different chord voicings of the same two chords so watch out for that.
The chorus also contains a couple of guitar fills by Angus. He does these fills every time the chorus riff occurs.
In the second video I will take through Angus Young's first guitar solo. The biggest challenge with this solo will probably be the guitar bends. There is also a fast repeated blues lick as well.
In the last lesson video, I will show you phrase-by-phrase how to play Angus' outro solo.
I hope you guys enjoy learning this great classic from the incomparable AC/DC!
R.I.P. Malcolm! #forthoseabouttorockguitarlesson #acdc #guitarcovers
Carl...
The same day Malcolm Young died, my grandpa died. I’m learning this for him.
Pro tip: watch series on instaflixxer. Me and my gf have been using them for watching a lot of movies lately.
@Nikolai Ridge yea, been watching on InstaFlixxer for years myself :D

What an awesome reason to learn a song. I’m sure he would appreciate that 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
As usual anything you want to learn Carl has the lesson. Best guitar teacher on the web. Thanks so much for the time and effort you put into these lessons.
Quite possibly the greatest rock anthem every recorded. 🤟🤟🤟
💯
FYI - You are NOT authorized to play this live without a CANON - preferably 2 .
I wonder who the canon player was in the band?
Ha ha ya mad bugger🤣😂
mate you have the best collection of songs to learn on youtube, you brought back so many memories from my younger years and trying to learn everything via a tape player and pause rewind , pause rewind lol and AC/DC were right there at the start for me , easy to motivate you to pick up the guitar and practice to , over and over until I had malcolm youngs parts down, he was the heart and soul of the band for me. such a big sound
Can you do let there be rock
Figure it out it’s the easiest song to play I could play it with my hand covered with lube while blindfolded
Once again, Carl shares his wizardry with us for our benefit
lego101boy well stated
We salute you, Malcolm. RIP. Great lesson & tribute, thanks Carl!
Whole lotta Rosie! I have the rhythms figured out but that last solo is crazy!
The intro is the first thing learned on a guitar back in 1983 . Because it sounds so much like the movie Halloween them😁
Carl, I insist that you buy a '65 Gibson SG (preferably in cherry but black is acceptable) to teach these songs on. That is all.
Hi Carl,
love your work mate,
would love to see you give a lesson on "Shot down in Flames" if you can find the time
(one of their very best).
Cheers
such an awsome some to be able to play im almost got it down. It's nice to learn the sing that I grew jamming out to.
R.I.P Malcolm young
Carl great video. Sorry about your channel being hacked. Glad you are on the other side of it.
Excellent lesson! This sounds right. Those AC/DC chords are SO important if you want to sound like they did. That's what we all want right"? That's what makes it exciting to play guitar, because I know there is the capability to sound exactly like the track. (without their exceptional skill and gear of course) : )
Looking forward to the solo lessons. Thanks for posting.
I'm on this AC/DC thing since Malcolm passed. Awesome guitar and really fun to play. He did leave a permanent legacy behind. His music will never be forgotten.
it had more of a jumpy beat did the intro. My favourite guitar intro of all time for some reason.
Yeea I said right Where's the carl brown video for this and it came up! Once again best online teacher!
Great lesson!
Great lesson, you caught that ACDC sound... thanks Andy
My favourite AC/DC song! Imola 2015
Your lessons are the best, and have been the biggest contributor to me learning guitar over the last year. Could you maybe do some W.A.S.P. stuff at some point?
15:03 thats cute
Christian Alexander sounds like a hamster 😂😂

Great explained 💪👏👏👏👏
500TH LIKE!! Keep on rockin' in heaven with Bon Scott, Malcom! Rest in peace
Whole lotta Rosie next please! Thanks, Carl!
Awesome lesson. I learned a lot. It would be amazing if you could do a lesson on rock and roll ain’t noise pollution by AC/DC
Great lesson Carl! Could you do the call of ktulu by Metallica?
excellent lesson. thank you so much!
We salute you, Malcolm!
Cool man. Looking forward to the solo.
Holy crap how did you get that amazing tone?? What amp, and what pickups are in that guitar? And BTW I love your lessons. Best guitar dude on the net.
I think he said at some point in the past he uses a line 6 helix for his amp, although I'm not sure what amp he's using within that system to get this sound. Hopefully that helps a little :p.
Rest (Rock) In Peace Malcom!
Thank you Carl!!
Your so awesome Carl!
Rock In Peace Malcolm!
Thank god! :)
Metallica disposable hero’s please
Thanks! Do Anything Goes from the Black Ice album
For this guitar lesson I salute you!
Thenks you
COuld you make a bowie song from the "Young AMericans" album, like "WIn" or "Can you hear me?"
ooo ooo a La Dispute song, they're not very popular and not everyone like them but most things on youtube are covers of the songs instead of tutorials which kinda sucks ;-; but i love La Dispute verrry much
Fuck yeah ..awesome tribute ..thanks Carl
thanks!
Dig it thanx!
We Salute you Carl
15:02 the best part :D
What pick are you using?
Chugins well then ACDC's tone is ass, carl has it nearly point, your hearing is just shit
Chugins i dont know what you're hearing so I'm not 100% accurate with my speculation, but all I know is your hearing is just trash. Whether you deny it or not. It doesn't need to be an SG to sound perfect, it would get closer to the tone yes, but carl uses a program to get any tone he wants. Effects, no effects, ANY setting, pedals, whatever. I can guarantee you if he used angus's SG, same exact amp settings and volume, and did this tutorial, you'd still say it sounds like shit
Potato Potato he uses fender picks
Fender? Oh no! What do they know about guitars? That company isn't going anywhere in the guitar business. Chugins knows so much better than them.
Maybe it's close enough given the time he is willing to put into it.
He is showing how to play the song not in a cover band playing for a bunch of pedantic losers.
What do you mean u have to play a A power cord and the 3 fret b and 4 fret d at the same time it sounds horrible and I can't play it
tank you ac dc okey GRANDE GRUPPOOOOOOOO CIAAAAOOOOO ROCK GRANDE MAESTRO

I think you do too ...you might want to check 🤣..ANGUS and MALCOM are AUSTRALIAN but they are Scottish heritage immigrants ...did you know? correct me if I am wrong...please..yes
What I wouldn’t do to have some long skinny fingers instead of these sausage chubs I have as digits.
Finger dimensions not relevant. Watch Shawn lane videos.
Good lesson, but I can't take these Fender hipster ads every five minutes.
when you have no one to play the other part... :(
RIP Malcolm Young by the way
Riff Raff
Sweater weather
Comment dire c'est pas mal, mais un conseil avant de faire une vidéo ACDC entraîne toi un peu plus et dans le rhyme stp
