Heidi, I’ve been an upholster for years, and you have done a great job. Keep it up.
So great to hear a professional approves of this tutorial!
I can’t even tell you how much I appreciate you making this video! I have 2 wing back chairs that I got for free from my parents neighbor and I painted one and it turned out ok, but wasn’t what I really wanted in my home so I ripped all the fabric off. They have both been sitting in my garage collecting sawdust because I wasn’t brave enough to attempt reupholstering them because even though I own a sewing machine I am completely lost in the sewing world. I feel confident I can do this! Seriously thank you!!! You did a fantastic job explaining and your chair looks fabulous!!!
Wow Great Job Heidi. I took an upholstery class years ago. I have a few pieces that need to be redone. Im inspired now. One thing we did in upholstery class was to steem the chair to tighten all the fabric to give it that extra professional look. Great job
Steam it afterwards or before?
Thank you for explaining each step so clearly! This makes me less nervous to attempt it myself.
Wow Heidi!!!!! This looks amazing!!!! You could not tell this was your first time doing upholstery!!!! I love the color you picked and the pillow coordinated perfectly. Thank you for joining me this month! It was so much fun!!!!
Heidi, Heidi, Heidi!!!! You put the work into this DIY! You have WAY more patience than I do. My husband was an upholsterer in his younger days and he said he would NEVER go back to doing it. LOL Gorgeous!!!! Awesome job for your first time.
What a great video... I love how detailed you were and I nearly fell off my chair when you said you'd never reupholstered before!!!!! Bravo Heidi... the finished look is amazing!
Your chair turned out FABULOUS and to find out this was your first chair that you reupholstered?!? All I can say is, “YOU GO GURL!” You did SUCH a wonderful job👏🏼 Thank you so much for sharing this video with all of us! I SURE DO APPRECIATE IT🤗
It came out beautifully. I’ve been wanting to reupholster a wingback for ages, and this’ll be both a great inspirational vid, as well as a reference tutorial.
Wow, you are my hero! This was such an amazing and professional project! I love that you included all of the special cardboard and fold over tack tools that you used that really made the fabric look fantastic!
Thank you so much Heidi for sharing this tutorial on how to recover that chair. I have one that I've been wanting to recover but I haven't been brave enough to do it. I appreciate this video so much, you can't even believe how much, fantastic job . Christina
I am so proud of you too!!! You did a great job. This has been on my list of things to do too. I have made slip covers for wingback chairs but it’s not the same. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Best tutorial I’ve seen. I feel confident enough to do it myself.
Wow Heidi! This is amazing! You did such a a good job I dont think I would have the patience for all that lol It’s beautiful your hard work really paid off! I love the blu fabric you choose too it goes really well your pillows! ❤️❤️❤️
It looks great Heidi! Super job!
Wow! You have patience. Nicely done!
You are right to be proud of yourself!! It looks amazing!!! 💖💖💖
I have looked up many re upholstery videos but this one is the best, most informative and easy one I've seen so far thanks
And proud you can be, Heidi!!! Wow, what great work you did!!! I've upholstered a chair once, too. But it was a bamboo one with two giant cushions so it was a lot less work that you had to put into this chair. My hands were bleeding as I had to use an upholstery needle to add a lot of those buttons tobring the cusshions to form. Sadly I did this way before my blogging time and I have almost no photos to create a tutorial.
This turned out fabulous! I’ve wanted to try upholstery too, but I may not be ready yet. This being your first upholstered piece is impressive!
Thank you very much for sharing your experience.
You did a fantastic, amazing, super, beautiful, wonderful job.👍👍👍. Thank you 😊 for sharing.
What a beautiful job you did, you should be very proud.
WOW HEIDI WOW! What a challenge! It came out great!
Thank you for sharing this video. I have 2 wingback chairs exactly like this chair that I am planning on reupholstering. This video has answered a lot of my questions.
Awesome! Looks so beautiful! Terrific job! Love, Mom
Thanks for such a great in-depth tutorial. I think it would be an amazing project to take on, thanks to you!
The chair looks so sad without his clothes on! LOL. Great job:) I feel like this is above my skill level at this point in life....or maybe it's above my patience level. You are a good teacher.
Wow!! That looks amazing! I know who to call when I need to upholster something ;)!
You did such a great job. It looks amazing and comfy. Tfs
Amazing!! Looks so gorgeous !!! And you have the most beautiful voice !!
It came out so beautifully!!!! Great job!!!!
Wow! I’m so impressed!
You should be proud of yourself! What an amazing project 👌🏻
I would never attempt this. You are certainly brave. I would just buy a slip cover. Great job!!
Great job Heidi and you save yourself a ton of money
Hi Heidi
You are very brave!
You explained it really well.
This turned out amazing!
Love it.
You must be very proud!

Wow!! Wonderful job on this!
thank you , very instructive and helpful ! Beautiful job !
Great work. You did good explaining it in detail.
Wow, fantastic job!
😅oMG thank you soooooo🎉 much for the tip on piping. I started my project and having been stressing sewing piping. This idea is going to work GREAT!❤
Amazing. I’ve done baby upholstering jobs and it’s so hard to get a smooth professional look but you nailed it! Or should I say glue gunned it!! 👍
You did a great job, it's much harder than I thought ♥
Wow! Great job!👍💕
WOW!!!! I couldn't do that... Amazing...
This was an excellent video! thank you
Heidi, I like how the chair came out.
So helpful, thank you!
YOU DID A BEAUTIFUL JOB
Awesome! I love it!
Amazing job!!!!
oh! That's really nice! I searched for a video because I have a chair I need to recover and this was great! Thanks. :)
Thank you for showing this!
Good job done. Eventually I have a wing back chair I got at the Salvation for less than $24.00 with the senior discount, which I'm going to try & recover. It was in really good shape a few years ago, no wear at all except the legs were scuffed as if someone kept hitting them with the vacuum cleaner.
Great job!!! A+
There is no way I would have tried this. This was way too much. A chair pad, maybe but not a whole chair. You did a beautiful job.
BEAUTIFUL!💺
Beautyful Work 🌹
Great job!!
Beautiful! Awesome job.New to your channel.Enjoyed this video.
Cool share my friend 👌
I need this! Yay!!
I saved this video!
Marvellous🇬🇧
Wow! I haven't seen the metal brackets when i have been watching a couple of upholstery videos before! love the final result! WOW!!! Amazing job: better than if you'd pay to a professional to do it for you! Thumbs up! By the way, can you imagine, I've FINALLY recorded my Purse/bag area of my closet's organization but am not sure if you're gonna do another FALL Closet cleanout/organization Challenge or no??? I am gonna be ready to participate ON TIME for this FALL LOL!!! Thanks for all your DIYs: I love your vids with lots of tips and tricks;)
Amazing!!
Good job
You did sure a great job, what type of material did you use? I have two chairs made exactly like that. I want to reupholster it either gray or cream. This job look very tedious but I am willing to try as a first timer. Your help is greatly appreciated
Amazing
Good effort 👍
Ty
Genuinley curious, wouldnt it be easier to save the old fabric and trace the old pattern onto the new material? Your chair looks great by the way, did an awesome job
Beautiful! Where did you get the fabric from?
Good work! How long did the project take?
What was that metal tubing you used?? I can not seem to find it
Hey Heidi :) Which batting is that? I’ve been looking at thick cotton batting but it’s a little pricey. Is the one you’re using the upholstery batting roll from Michael’s? On their website, it says it’s approx. 12 yards. Thanks!!
Can someone explain to me why you have to take the old fabric off? Cant you just place the new fabric on top of the old fabric and just make sure its thick enough to cover the old color?
The link for the welt cellulose piping doesn't link anymore. Could you tell me which diameter and length I would need?
Why burlap?
This looks so hard
I a going to try a rocking chair
👍👍👍👍👍🎃🍂🍁
How much did you spend?
It all depends on how much your fabric is, but I've linked all the tool supplies I used in my description box. It is a lot of work to reupholster a chair, but it's cheaper than buying a new one. Hope this helps
I don't think so,! 😂💕
All to Jesus.
Why couldn't you just put new fabric over old fabric? Of course if everything was in good condition.
I cut myself badly removing those metal clips 😭
12 yards for two chairs. Uhh. My fabric is $40 per yard . Yikes. .
You are right fabric can cost so much now! I found my fabric super cheap and made sure to get a good deal. make sure to check the clearance section of your fabric stores. You might find something good there.
Pick a different chair wingback chairs are outdated
I'm sorry to be the nay-sayer, but it doesn't look good at all. There are bumps and wrinkles and the seams are not tight at all.
It was her 1st time.
Whoa, no mention of that black stuff when you were taking it apart? That was African American slave hair. They used to pad furniture with it. Insane. I would've burned that chair. You left it in there. 😧
Amazing
