How stupendous?! This must be the most comprehensive video available on how to strip and reupholster an armchair. Thanks to this, and your other superlative "how-to" videos, I now have the confidence to tackle my many reupholstery projects. I have added this to a playlist and this is the second time that I have watched it from start to finish. Btw, I am all the way across the pond in England, studying fine woodworking part time and teaching myself upholstery techniques so that I can start my own business designing and making bespoke furniture, and these films are playing a very big role in my education. Thank you Sailrite!

Hi to all of you nice folks at Sailrite! I am appreciative for this video. Your other videos have also taught and inspired me. I learn a lot from your videos and I am happy to come upon them. I have subscribed. The main thing that I am thanking you for on this particular video is your demonstrating how "reupholstered" does not equate to "all new stuffing" (Wadding, fill, whatever we all call it). Thank you and again, thank you.

I have a very similar chair, very solid and with loose covers that are way past their best in fact awful, I shan’t need to do all this but it was useful to know just in case I do need to recover the whole thing, but shall be watching eagerly for the seat cushion and back cover video, and I think I now understand the principle of how the shapes go together to unpick the original and sew a new one. Now for a lovely fabric. Thank you so much.

Before throwing out an armchair that my cat ruined, I'm considering re-upholstering. This is the best RUclips video I've found on the subject. It's making me appreciate the cost of having someone else do it! ;-) (I still haven't decided if I'm going to DIY my armchair.)

Thanks for the encouragement. It took me THREE DAYS to remove all the old upholstery and stuffing and my fingers and thumbs were bruised from all the staple-pulling (yes, I used tools). The "naked" chair remains out on the deck; I still haven't decided if I'm going to go "all the way" and finish it. The good news is that the cat urine did not get to the wood base of the chair.

Janet DiNatale Wow, that's awesome you did it!! I really want to but am intimidated by allllllll the many pieces. I think I'll get lost and won't be able to visualize it like she did to place the pattern so well.

Good job Janet! Do you happen to remember how many yards of fabric it took, if you had to guesstimate? 54" width I'm assuming.

Amazing video series! I purchased a class from Craftsy and this is much better then that! I was just looking at two chairs in my living room and planning to redo them, this was a life saver and as a result I will be purchasing materials from Sailrite now. Thank you very much for the detailed information!

That chair was a nice find, and you did a very lovely job. That fabric was perfect for it, and by eliminating the skirt you brought it up to date. It looks so fresh and contemporary now. I can never find anything that is both that new and clean and well constructed. I usually work on the old dinosaurs someone found in the back of the barn. The one I'm doing now had so many layers of old fabric and cotton batting with the final layer covering cotton and STRAW (yes, straw. not moss, not horsehair and not excelsior) that the seat cushion was only 18" wide. It was such a heavy beast, with all those layers there must have been 25 pounds of tacks alone. But it had good bones, and the frame is solid hardwood, glued and doweled and with the exception of all the tack holes in near perfect condition. When I'm done it will be back to the classic styled wing chair that it started out as. Slightly low slung, nice wide seat and a back that is ever so slightly angled so you don't have to sit ramrod straight.

+futuradeej1 Sometimes the older chairs are constructed much better than the newer chairs, you are correct!

I have watched lots of video's and this is by far the best for step by step instruction and clear camera shots. I did my sofa and now feel after watching this, that I could have done it better. I wish I had found your video first. It's inspired me to do more. Thank you.

Thankyou so much for this video so easy to follow,Cindy your voice is gentle and soothing, and you get on with the job in hand. Some voices are so annoying it makes one flit to another, I'm In England and a loud high pitched affected voice is so hard to listen too . 10 out of 10 for this knowledge I will be learning lots from you talented lady.maddie

I really enjoyed this video - very professionally done with great instructions. I do have a sewing background so everything made sense. I have a loveseat I'm considering reupholstering. No corners were cut in this process and I loved the minute detail of each part of the process. I'm sure the client was estatic with his or her new chair.
Thanks for taking all the time and effort to make this excellent video. I feel I know fully what to do and even where to get supplies - from you!
