    Oh my goodness!!! I've only been crocheting a couple of years, and always dreaded the magic ring. I'd have to follow tutorials, stopping and rewinding over and over. You summed it up in less than a second! It had never clicked for me before watching this. It truly is nothing more than "a loose slipknot"....no sweeter words have ever been spoken! I'm way too excited over this, lol. THANK YOU!

    Thank you so much for the instructions, they were very clear and informative. My beanie took 3 hours for a newborn and 5 hours for a children's size and the cocoon took about 9.5 hours to make.
    One thing I added was I made the belt buckle from crochet too instead of felt. Separately to the cocoon I CH26 then did 2SC for 1, SC for 7, 2SC for 1, SC for 4, 2SC for 1 and SC for 7, SL to finish. This made a rectangle that I left a long tail so I could weave it onto the belt section. I'm a beginner so don't know if that was a correct method but it worked!

    question: how many skeins would 300 yards amount to? As I was googling, I believe and understood I saw 1 skein of red heart yard had 3 64 yards per skein, if in fact, I would need 1 skein of red heart yard correct.

    • @naztazia
      @naztazia  8 лет назад

      Hi! Manufacturers wind yarn into a shape called a skein. A skein can contain any amount of yards of yarn. If the Red Heart yarn you saw says 364 yards per skein, then absolutely, you would need 1 skein of that particular yarn. Now if you were using something like Lion Brand Vanna's Choice yarn, you'd need more skeins, since they have less yards of yarn per each skein. As long as you have at least 300 yards of red yarn (or whatever color you want), you should be good. :)

    Fabulous tutorial thank you 🙏 I just have a question on sizing, I usually make newborn hats that are approx 11 inches circumference so 15 inches seems very big, unless as you progress with the hat it gets smaller with the bulkier yarn? X

    I attempted it but my hat came out too big I think I was adding stitches by mistake

    • @jimmyeng663
      @jimmyeng663 2 года назад

      My second one came out way too big (I think I was on automatic and didn't stop when I needed to). I think it also depends on your tension and you could adjust the instructions by eliminating an increase row and start the single double crochet rows earlier. If you added too many stitches in one row the triangle shape would flare out too much and not a smooth transition.

    Isnt #4 weight yarn a little itchy for a baby? Can i use chenille yarn or will it make baby too warm

    • @naztazia
      @naztazia  Год назад

      #4 yarn is the thickness of the yarn, not the fiber content. Fiber content is what makes things itchy to some people (like sheep wool) or not itchy (like cotton and bamboo yarn). Feel free to use anything that is a medium-weight yarn equivalent.

      Hello! Feel free to use any yarn you wish - however I found the Red Heart with Love allows the hat and cocoon to hold its shape the best.

    I love this cap!! My question is at the risk of sounding stupid. How do you get the top of the hat to stay folded down?

      The hat will flop down in any direction (sometimes the back, side, front). In the photo, the baby is sleeping, so I just kind of draped it over towards the front to be able to see the pom pom and such.

      @@naztazia Thank you do very much! I was honored to be asked to make these caps for the precious babies in the hospital at Akrons Children's Hospital in Boardman, Ohio. I want to make sure they are perfect!
