Proof You Should Buy A Porsche 992.1 GT3, Not a 2025 992.2 GT3

- If you're trying to decide between spending 2 hundred and 40 thousand dollars on the brilliant 992.1 GT3 or, an additional 1 hundred to 1 hundred and 50 thousand dollars on the 992.2 GT3, I made this video to help you make the right decision.
Chances are you've noticed the glaring fact that it's been roughly 4 months since Porsche revealed the new GT3 and they haven't said anything about the cars nurburgring lap time. And this is made all the more concerning by the fact that when Porsche debued the previous GT3, all they did was talk about that car's nurburgring lap time. In Porsches official press release for the 992.1 GT3, they boasted about the nurburgring lap time saying: During final testing, it lapped the Nuerburgring-Nordschleife, traditionally the ultimate proving ground for all sports cars developed by Porsche, over 17 seconds quicker than its predecessor. Their Press release even included 2 videos about the GT3s nurburgring lap time
And you know what porsche is saying about the new GT3s laptime? But they have made something of a nurburgring announcement, which we're going to get into a little bit, 2017 dodge viper, But first we'll look at the numbers.
Over the last few months, values of .1 GT3s have dropped significantly, and this wonderful car that people were once paying 3 hundred and 50 thousand dollars for, can now be had for less than 2 hundred thousand dollars, although the average sale price is closer 2 hundred and 40 thousand dollars, but still, that's a 1 hundred thousand dollar price drop! And if you were to purchase this car and one day need to sell it, chances are you won't lose a dime on it. So not only are you getting a great car, you're making a sound financial decision. And I guarantee you, nearly everyone who purchases a new .2 GT3, will be losing money when it comes time to sell the car, just like the original owners of the .1 GT3 did.
And I know there's some of you saying well l don't care if I lose 1 hundred dollars when I sell the car, but the majority of us would prefer not to lose a 1 hundred thousand dollars when selling a car.
If you've watched any of the latest GT3 reviews on youtube, which have all been sanctioned by porsche, everyone makes the same excuses for porsche not making any real improvements to this car, but they don't just make excuses for porsche, they literally sing their praises for pulling off the "amazing" feat of giving the new GT3 the same amount of horsepower as it's predecessor.
But when aston martin debut the 2025 vantage, they didn't make excuses, they gave it 6 hundred and 55 horsepower, 50 horsepower more than the 2024 model, and when Ferrari debut the 2025 12Cilindri, they didn't make excuses for it, they gave it 8 hundred and 30 horsepower - from a naturally aspirated engine.
And this not to say that porsche is a bad company for their low effort updates to the new GT3, but it sure provides a good rationale as to why you shouldn't spend an additional 1 hundred to 1 hundred and 50 thousand dollars for that car. Especially when all of porsche's competitors have recently come out with new cars that are significantly more powerful than their predecessors, be they turbocharged or naturally aspirated.
And I'm not saying the new GT3 is a bad car, it's certainly an incredible car, but it's certainly not 1 hundred and 50 thousand dollars more incredible than it's predecessor - it's pretty much as incredible as it's predecessor, especially since it's pretty much the same car.
Now some of you are probably saying - but the new GT3 is a totally different car, it has folding seats that you can take the headrest out of so there's more room for your helmet, but what you might not be aware of, is that with basic tools, you can install those exact same seats in your .1 GT3 that you didn't pay 4 hundred thousand dollars for.
And there's probably a few of you saying - but the new GT3 doesn't cost between 3 hundred and 50 and 4 hundred thousand dollars, it costs 2 hundred 22 thousand and 500 dollars, and according to Google, you would be right. But that price doesn't include the 30 to 60 thousand dollars in options that the average GT3 buyer selects, it doesn't include the dealership market adjustment fees that range between 50 and 100 thousand dollars depending which dealor you're buying from, it also doesn't include administration fees, destination fees, and the 4 or 5 additional fees that the dealership is going to tack on, so out the door, you're going to be paying between 3 hundred and fifty and 4 hundred thousand dollars, and that's before taxes.
992.2 has no anologe dials anymore
How's that a problem?
Less craftsmanship and engineering and more data logging and data sharing and glitches
Do people REALLY care about that? Lol
Bring back analog dials please enough with the damm screens! Screens are cheap to make and lacks in sexiness! Dials is class.
@@earthtoimani Mechanical dials fit very well for a very mechanical car. Especially when you are driving a car to its limits, the only thing your eyes can pay attention to is the tach and the speedometer.
🏁 agree with most of what this guy stated. To be fair, Porsche did have their back to the wall somewhat due to overreaching EU “Green party” regulations that don’t want any of us to drive petrol powered cars.
At the same time, Porsche has boldly increased the price from 2024 to 2025 buy more than $50,000 for a GT3 which is a strong ask.
At the end of the day, all 911 underpinning is a $120,000 Carrera. the market is softening more and more each week, and ultimately the market will revert back to the mean in prices.
That 8 yr old Dodge is amazing and is also selling close to $400k. As a Porsche and Viper owner, no one openly says sh*t about the Viper when I show up with it. ;)
People who talk about horsepower, dont understand gt3's . Its a different car for a different purpose and yes your corvette will be faster in a straight line for less money but it was never the case with gt3, its the best all around package , with incredible feel , engine and porsche precision and porsche ecosystem. Unfortunately because of greed from Porsche and dealers this car will cost more than 300k which is ridiculous. its price should have never crossed 200k mark . Best car you can possibly imagine for 200k. But now it is really moving into a league where you buy it simply because you love gt3, that whole package and who cares about the price or stats or whatever. it has nothing to prove to outsiders. Having said all that , i ordered one))
I dont care that they didnt add horsepower, but what exactly did they add? Every video highlighting the new gt3 talks about how much work they did to keep the car as performant as the old one given new regulations. They also talk about rear seats and adjustments to the front seat.
Guess what, if you’re buying a 992.1, you dont have to worry about all the 2025 EU regulations. The car doesnt seem to have gotten any faster, so if you dont care for rear seats, why would you buy a 992.2?
@@OM-el6oy Well i am sure there will be tune and proper exhaust, so weight saving and extra power will be unleashed. Mr Preuninger knows that enthusiasts will install ipe or other exhausts. Also suspension wise i am sure it drives better and feels better on the road. Gt3 is about the feel and i am sure it gotten better. I trust mister Preuninger. Also the weissach package makes everything aestetically more pleasing pleasing plus a bit better weight. Plus let me bring this argument - right now close to my spec 992.1 on the internet is about 250+tax , my build with dealer mark up is 320k , so 70k difference, i bet that difference will be sustained or may become 50k in the future. So the price argument that was brought up in the video is only 50k to 70k, when you already spend 250k and you get brand spanking new car , with all the carbon , 75% s/t suspension parts and better tunning. I ll take the new car any day or night! Also this video is super misleading , right now 992.1 gt3 that you would buy cost 235k to 260k + tax , not 180k for a bit up car with soso carfax ,so the new car is better , it is new and the price difference is 70k. you decide for your self but for me its a no brainer since the market is crazy ! in a prefect world i would pay 200k for a new car with all the options but as we all know the world is pretty fckn far from being one-)
also i am sure that you will be able to retrofit rear seat in a wing car as well, suspension wise they are identical. plus mark up for touring is 50k more , i am not sure its wise to spend that on a same car with less parts=))
This video is just engagement bait
I think the biggest reason to go with the 992.2 is if you get the touring package; you now get back seats and a manual is an option. And you can spec it yourself. My dealer would not charge me more than a $10-$20k adm. So mid to high $200k. Personal preference. BUT, if I was buying a non touring version, then Yes, finding a quality spec'd 992.1 would be preferred.
There’s absolutely no reason to buy the 992.2 none. 500 horsepower is embarrassing these days. The base corvette has 500 horsepower for 1/8 the cost. And with a few options like carbon ceramic brakes it’ll give everyone here the same driving experience given the lack of talent in most drivers.
For $400,000 I’ll get a 900 horsepower Ferrari 296 GTB all day long. If you spend that much on a car that basically has no technological upgrades since 2014 you’re in a cult period.
I left Porsche after 25 years and I have a 24 Huracan Technica that’s blisteringly mote faster and quicker than the gt3. With 150 more horses. And more style .
You won’t find a dealer in the US that doesn’t make $100,000 or more adm unless you’re a 918 buyer
Why would you want backseats on a 911? It's not like you can carry people with legs in there.
@@jimsteinway695Porsche wants some of that ADM money for themselves … I do like my 992.1 Touring Manual at 225k. You are correct- 400k No Way
So which dealer are we talking about that would not charge you more than $10-$20K?
Dude you sound like a robot when you talk. Couldn’t even last 30 seconds listening to your clickbait video 🤣 ✌🏻
listening to this guy talk was brutal....
Sounds like he is upset because his 992.1 GT3 is not the latest model anymore.
Put him at 1.25x
A logical conclusion. And….i enjoy your content. Keep it up!
Shouldn’t buy any gt3. (Except used) I’ve had 3. They’re not worth it. 275 and up. You can get a Ferrari 296 for the price of the new GT3 and get 900 horsepower instead of the measily 500 in the gt3.
The gt3 is MAGNIFICENT car for $150,000. It’s not worth this new price. It’s becoming a status symbol instead of being driven. The people buying this car now are in a cult.
The Gallardo had 500 horsepower TWENTY YEARS AGO!!! Everyone has almost 700 horsepower instead this segment. It’s embarrassing
Yet non of afore-mentioned cars are faster than a GT3 at the Ring. Why do I need 900 useless ponies as if am buying an American car.
Who cares about all that HP?? Nothing handles on the track like a GT3. I’ll take that over a Ferrari any day
@@bentleygucci Unfortunately, 296 handles better than GT3, even better than a GT3RS, a lot pro drivers who have tried these models have agreed on this.
10 minutes of slow talking, and filler content
I run the video and all his videos on 1.5 speed for normal viewing lol
Hahahaha read this comment as I watch on 2X speed lol
Gotta hit that 10 mins mark to trigger the ads algorithm
Sure, the talk is lacking in charisma ! He's laying out simple facts with a different take on it !
At least it's refreshing to have someone not peddling to the official Porsche-sanctioned narrative that all other so-called influencers are echoing in unison like parrots diligent in spreading the bird flu on RUclips ! 😉
Dude! It’s February! Let the fkn snow melt first!
Stupid EU regulations
This channel is a drag.
What does that mean
I think they didnt set a laptime, because its freezing cold in the winter. Its the same with the new Gt3 rs mr.
GT4 is where it's at
okay, sparky!
Nah
Mid-engine is superior
Porsche has the audacity to ask for $50k more for a worst car.
992.1 already is peaked and the minor exterior mod with wing would’ve made very minimal differences in lap times only impact was the final gear ratio change. The biggest changes is touring buyers imho since its more thrilling (due to less sound insolation + suspension change + the final shorter gear) which made the car lively and more livable

Nord-shleeve ?
Nord-shly-fe
Except it isn’t $240k because of stupid dealer markups.
save time by watching in 2x speed
I almost feel like this gentleman doesn't like the 999.2 GT3
I’m happy with my .1. No interest in the .2
i dont understand the joke with the Dodge Viper? What does it mean? btw,all Priceas will go down in the next 2 years, than they will go in the next 10 years up like hell, like old muscle cars of the 70s,buy now an old audi rs6 v10,you will not regret it.
a 992.1 gt3 is NOT A SOUND FINANCIAL DECISION. You will with 100 percent certainly loose money.
People who buys GT3s do not care about resale value, if u do, u shouldn't be buying a 300k car, period.
Everything well said!
At 1.5X speed, your speaking pace sounds normal. Jesus, please stop talking so slowly and methodically like you’re a teacher lecturing a child.
There are dealers in Japan where you can buy it at a fixed price.
Even if you don't buy Taikan.
1:20 Nordschliiif😂
My 18 gt3 was $155,000. That’s what they should cost today. Basically the same car same engine as today
not exactly the same, but close. I had a 991.2 and now have the 992.1 and the 992 is faster, the engine has more throttle bodies and better front suspension. However, in spirit you are correct.
@ I driven both owned the 991.2 but yea I wasn’t going to get into the details the 992 has much better aero and the dual wishbone, but for the price at $150,000 it’s brilliant but over $200,000 there are much better options. I bought a 24 Huracan and its acceleration is brutal compared to my gt3. I thought the gt3 was very quick. But it’s just fast. When you get into the better cars with much more power it’s not as good. Even the C8 Z06 is faster and quicker. Over a lap the gt3 is faster because the brakes on the Z06 are atrocious compared to European cars. The gt3 can out brake and go through corners faster, but in every day fun the Z06 is more of an experience. And to think the BASE vette had as much power and a hundred more torque.
The improvements on the newer GT3s are going to be so nuanced that only drivers who track and can get 9/10s out of the car will notice. Like more aero. Germany oppressive emissions will make that pattern permanent.
I’m sad tho I absolutely love the Huracan Technica and I’m looking into a Ferrari 296, I’d still be driving 911s if Porsche wasn’t on a pure cash grab. I’ve been in love with 911s since I was 10 but Porsche forced me to look at other cars. I love normally aspirated cars and this v-10 is awesome and better sounding sooner than the gt3.
I really think this is a bad move for Porsche.
They kept track of 918 owners and give them first choice on every special car coming out. Porsche could have easily done this with GT buyers. Just offer them a slot on the same new model. Or maybe you have to buy 2 GT cars whatever. Porsches in a bad spot now. Now and going forward. Pushing EVs and not being able to increase power outputs while jacking up prices by 50%band more. For the same output. I thought I’d buy a GT2RS before any other marque but that’s not going to happen now.
Porsche was perfectly placed between Ferrari Lamborghini and McLaren and the corvettes and lotuses. But they’ve priced their cars into the McLaren Ferrari Lamborghini range. Bad move.
I think eventually that’ll make the 911 obsolete. McClaren makes so many models and they depreciate so much, you can get a 720S for less than a 911 turbo . And more models to come with V-8 and un Godly power.
Was hoping for better content or content that actually makes sense. It's become a weak channel. Unsubscribed 😂
I agree. Kept my 992.1 GT3 I got for MSRP after witnessing others sell them for big bucks. Lucky after hearing how much new prices jumped. With a few mods it is the perfect driving car and hope to always keep it. Have added a Dundon exhaust and think a suspension (S/T or DSC controller) plus engine tune will make it sublime
I agree. I am keeping mine. I have Fabspeed exhaust and headers on mine. I paid the list price for mine which was a little over $160,000.
Hopefully this car will depreciate like a brick and I'll buy one in a couple years...
Germany is not SoCal dude! No-one does 'Ring lap times in winter! Porsche will produce one in late spring when the weather is warmer and dry.
9:18 I suspect most of the GT3/GT3RS owner actually enjoy showing off their wealth more than the driving experience itself. That's pathetic.
Many improvements.
I am a guy that likes the latest and greatest, but I totally agree with all of your facts❤🎉
So are the prices of a 992.1 GT3 going to be stable to up?!
The nose is better. The rear is a bit better (wider light bar helps). However, I still think the 991.2 is the best looking. Plus Analog guages > digital any day.
Aghhh I’m trying to see 992.1 prices drop not go up shush !
The biggest downside is the .2 is quieter and loses torque. It tells me that the next car (994?) is going to be hybrid to maintain the N/A engine and push the performance. Emissions nonsense from the EU has killed all the fun (thanks, unelected bureaucrats!)
What is the reason Porsche leaves the power of the GT3 basically the same?
New emissions standards, there making them make It produce 40% less emissions, so there is 4 catalytic's now
Restricted by emissions and noise constraints. 400k - No Way.
correct, I was lucky to get the 992. at MRSP in 2021; the price has consistently gone up every year; the 992.2 is way too expensive. I am keeping my 992.1
It's hard to pay attention when u talk without enthusiasm. You're making this look like a chore you're forced to do. No hate, just constructive criticism
Sports Chrono clock?
The porsche 992.1 911 GT3 RS is way better than the 992.2
i'll stick with my .1....
Love this video. First amendment!
Dot 2's are and always have been an evolutionary update to the dot 1's. Not revolutionary - it's a midlife update. Absolutely nothing new here. You're not giving the sum of the updates enough credit just because they're not wholesale. The price increase is in line with every model to date - Think you need to get behind the wheel before slagging off the updates.
You know back seats cost 150k!!!!
CGI is Amazing
Why is this channel showing a streaming program by Elon Musk? You have lost my subscription.
You make a wrong judgement like last time. Let's see.
Aston Martin is in the UK, the UK is not in the EU so different requirements
Great points. But regardless, Porsche will sell out the slots for 2025....lol
BTW, it's pronounced "Nordeschlyfa"
Cheers
Watch it in 1.25x
Subbed , damn you deserve much more subs dude! Much love from Detroit !!
Pretty poor review….mainly about $, and HP….not the improvements in the car. Having said that, I am keeping my 992.1 GT3. No amazing reason to move to .2…..imo.
Agree, Porsche are taking the piss
1:20 northsleaf? is this another AI channel? ☠
Man i thought you deleted your channel, plz go away already
Nordshleaf.
I was so annoyed by automotive "journalists" glazing Porsche for basically re-releasing the same car. Nothing really there to justify the $50k premium
Qotaqbas
Crap drivers always talk about HP
