All respect for the td4 chassis! This conversion kit is brilliant. I really enjoy seeing the continued interest. Maybe..... just maybe the td4 will slowly begin to receive the love and respect it very well deserved to begin with. Great video, thank you, Tamiya Legends!
Have to admit, with the Petronas-themed body, or without, that front shock tower conversion looks spectacular. Who cares if performance is increased or decreased...looks alone, it's worth it. However, that Petronas-themed body is out of this world...wish I could buy one. 🤙🏼
Hey Glen great video. I may be one of the people that criticised Owen's shock conversion. Although I'm not a fan, 100% respect, and admiration for his engineering and detail to make it work. Amazing. The wingbis epic.
I love that TD4 body and bought it when I first saw your original video. Just rendering my take on it too... will be uploaded shortly... its not on a TD4 though.... lol
I love doing different things on cars and love how the community is always engineering different things. The different engineering of parts on cars is crucial to some as just putting factory plastic together is not enough. I totally love it and completely understand it. Great video Glen. We have some very inspiring people in our community. Now I might actually buy a TD-4.
I really like that Glenn I understand what people mean about the inboard shocks but for me being a buggy collector I’ve always loved the way buggys have their exposed shocks body looks awesome super build I’m even considering a td4 for my collection now👌
Damn, that TD4 looks bloody fantastic! I didn't think I'd like it with a 'standard' front shock set-up but I love it, looks awesome! And with that bodyshell and the shape and position of the rear wing it reminds me so much of the original Avante ;)Great video as always!!
G'day Glenn wow that's mad looks great you couldn't see all of blue with the shell on and that shell bloody hell what a nice paint job. And a great video Glenn mate👍
Hi there Glen, leave the rear wing alone, it looks perfect and the Petrons paint scheme looks amazing, now hurry up and get it on the track along with the other rc’s 😮 😊
This is what this hobby is all about, tinkering, ive gotta say, it makes the car look better with the stand up shocks, and the body 👌 that is allmost making me want to get one. Just to do the conversion 😁
@@TAMIYALegends ive just cought myself looking at stock for the td4 😂 but need to sort my backlog out 1st. But would be good to see how it goes on track 😎
Reminds me of back in the day I converted my Boomerang to the Super Shot dual front shock upgrade. Nice to have something that looks different to the norm. Seems a great kit.
It looks really good with the stand up shocks, even though I really like the standard set up as well. But especially the body is excellent, he did a good job there as well.
It looks great with the body on. The lower wing goes well with the height of the body. It's odd because I wasn't impressed until the body went on. I wouldn't do o-rings on the shocks myself, they restrict free motion of the shock and will dry or wear out over time. It's not an issue on a shelf queen, of course.
Love that set. I’ve gotta stop watching TL. 😂 I watch a video then I spend money!!!!! You are not good for my bank account 😂 I love the look of it. Great job Glenn
I think it looked great when finished with that body personally I find the in board shoxs hard to adjust and everyone complained about how hard it was to fit the battery and now that’s fixed I would love to see it run .
The front shock conversion looks very cool. Will you make a running video with it? The AMG body looks awesome as well. But it would have looked better if it were black and yellow with some Red Bulls on it. 😂
2 things that interest me: How much weight did you shed (if any) and how would that body have looked with the inboard shocks. It looks bad-ass now, I need to get a TD4 now :)
i saw at least one guy in japan doing this. he had a little different method but i like this bold on style. i would think some 3-4mm carbon would be better. so you have to use the td4 shocks? not a standard front?
I think the stand up shocks would be good with the Avante 2001 shell like a modern tribute anc the lay down shocks would give the. Sleek f1 look for the petronas shell.
Great video as always! The td4 looks a lot better now in my personal opinion, those inbound shocks makes the car look a little to tame, now it looks like an animal. Very similar when you compare the looks from the topcat to the cougar, the cougar with those shock towers gives it a much better race like look. Not sure if that makes any sense 😂. Awesome stuff Owen .
I think it looks really nice this way too. Not sure if the carbon shocktower is good for any racing, thats some super thin carbonplate, I've seen twice as thick shatter on bad landings.
Still not the ultimate fan of the Super Avante. Yet I am curious what Tamiya might end up doing with that chassis since it seems to have some potential - generally speaking
That's loads better the in bord puts me off the kit it would be better if they had the layout like the top cat I have one with a 10.5 t brushless setup and it's brilliant
I couldn't do this to my car if I had one.I couldn't do this I prefer the inboard shocks. I also think this takes away from the looks of the car. But I understand why you do it but I wouldn't do it.

Glad you like it and I really appreciate the video time Glenn! Really quick turn around… I need to get the ebay advert sorted now 😄👍🏻.
Insane work brother you got mad skills!!!!
Looks cool but I feel it needs Astute 2022 front grooved slicks and some road tyres on the back to better suit the F1 body. ❤
Looks the business!!!
Oh man that looks so cool!
All respect for the td4 chassis! This conversion kit is brilliant. I really enjoy seeing the continued interest. Maybe..... just maybe the td4 will slowly begin to receive the love and respect it very well deserved to begin with. Great video, thank you, Tamiya Legends!
Looks sooooo much better. Love Petronas livery, and this one is gorgeous

Super cool. I'm here for it👍that Aqua Blue on that Gray is next level now we can forget the paint Code for Tamiya white now right Glen?😂😂

Totally agree I think Owen deserves a lot of credit for this 😇👊🏻
That is some quality design and engineering just when you are amazed by his body shells he brings this kit out wow
That really is stunning I wouldn’t of ever had the td4 but think I will be now❤
Great video mate 👌 looking Awesome with both body's 👍
Happy RC-ing indeed. Lovely tech video for the TD4 with the perfect dose of engineering and vintage nostalgia. 👍
Looks great. Much less complex than stock.
I dig the specs and the conversion Glenn!
I really like that Glenn I understand what people mean about the inboard shocks but for me being a buggy collector I’ve always loved the way buggys have their exposed shocks body looks awesome super build I’m even considering a td4 for my collection now👌
The Mercedes livery does look good 😍
Damn, that TD4 looks bloody fantastic! I didn't think I'd like it with a 'standard' front shock set-up but I love it, looks awesome! And with that bodyshell and the shape and position of the rear wing it reminds me so much of the original Avante ;)Great video as always!!
Awesome 😎👍
...looks rad
Owens done a mighty fine job on that piece of engineering. The overall look is awesome!! and that body! lots of love for this car now!
Yeah totally agree he deserves a ton of credit for this 😇👊🏻
That looks mint... seriously fancy one of these now but only with that conversion kit... Owens hit it out of the park with that one.. ❤
Great video and great job on Owen. Guy has some skills! Looks like the egress and avante had a baby, and that’s a good thing !
Haha love it 😊
G'day Glenn wow that's mad looks great you couldn't see all of blue with the shell on and that shell bloody hell what a nice paint job. And a great video Glenn mate👍

I have one coming
Haha that’s awesome 😎

Fantastic I’m glad someone like yourself (racer) finds this a cool bit of kit 😇👊🏻
@@TAMIYALegends ive just cought myself looking at stock for the td4 😂 but need to sort my backlog out 1st. But would be good to see how it goes on track 😎

Wow that looks cool
Wake up tamiya, this looks race worthy
I'd say "both is good" as the shocks being less exposed must have benefits, as well as looking high tech. But these outside shocks look nice too.
Thing looks cool as hell.
Haha doesn’t it 😇👊🏻
Whether it makes a difference or not, I like options!
Looks great- great workmanship too!!!
Looks to me like a new top force/egress model!
Love it! Would like to to see the wing slightly higher "but what a thing!" 😉
Massive improvement to the look of a stock td4
It looks really good with the stand up shocks, even though I really like the standard set up as well. But especially the body is excellent, he did a good job there as well.
Thanks Jesper 😎👊🏻
I like it alot better, looks awesome
Thanks Darren 😇👊🏻
I think it looks awesome! I agree with you about the wing needing to come up a little👍🏻
Yeah I haven’t tried it yet it I will dig our the longer mounts 😅
Really love that, that body set looks amazing and the shock mount turns it into a totally different model
Yeah that looks sick as hell. That's the car Tamiya should've made.
Cool is the only reason needed, and that it certainly is 😎
Got to agree it looks much better. Great video 👍😃
That’s the 2nd nicest td4 I have seen , mine being my fav 😂
Haha of course I’ll take 2nd happily my friend😅
Looks like a great quality kit Glenn and the body shell looks 👌
Future Concept f1 rally car. Absolutely love it
That looks totally wicked!
❤ it Glen, knocked it out of the park😂
Your driver lost his body Glenn 😂 looks great buddy
Looks great Glenn!!
Thanks buddy 😊
Excellent I’m up for that set if he decides to release it! 👍
That body looks amazing!
Omg! That is awsome, I just love the way it has brought alive the TD4 this is how it should of been from the beginning ❤
Yeah it’s totally transformed it in the looks department 😅
Love that set. I’ve gotta stop watching TL. 😂 I watch a video then I spend money!!!!! You are not good for my bank account 😂 I love the look of it. Great job Glenn
That looks incredible!!
I think it looked great when finished with that body personally I find the in board shoxs hard to adjust and everyone complained about how hard it was to fit the battery and now that’s fixed I would love to see it run .
Looks very nice dude.. maybe slightly higher at the rear.. looks amazing 😊
The front shock conversion looks very cool. Will you make a running video with it? The AMG body looks awesome as well. But it would have looked better if it were black and yellow with some Red Bulls on it. 😂
That is sick, dang!!!🏁🏁🏁
Proper gorgeous car
Thanks Jason 😅
Oh look... A Zero Pod Mercedes Racer that actually runs well! :P
2 things that interest me: How much weight did you shed (if any) and how would that body have looked with the inboard shocks. It looks bad-ass now, I need to get a TD4 now :)
Well designed after market kit. It would be interesting to see it run though, but whatayagonnado?
Good to see people still making mods I have to say.
Looks nice wonder if it will work on the TD2
i saw at least one guy in japan doing this. he had a little different method but i like this bold on style. i would think some 3-4mm carbon would be better.
so you have to use the td4 shocks? not a standard front?
That's the dogs danglies 👌
Legendary
Hey thanks for watching 😎👊🏻
I think the stand up shocks would be good with the Avante 2001 shell like a modern tribute anc the lay down shocks would give the. Sleek f1 look for the petronas shell.
i hate the look of the TD4, but this is the best looking one i have seen. it looks great...
Wow that’s awesome thank you 😅
Great vid Glenn 👍, please tell me that this is available for the Td2 🙏
Ding Dong Glenn!
Great video as always! The td4 looks a lot better now in my personal opinion, those inbound shocks makes the car look a little to tame, now it looks like an animal. Yeah totally get what you’re saying 😅👊🏻
I love this 🤩🤩🤩 emailed Owen for two kits. Would be interested to find out if the big bores fit.
Oh and very very baaad asssss!
What you going to do with the original suspension parts.
I think you could turn it into a Madcap if you did the paint scheme and decals. Looks like it will be easier to run .
Thanks Eric 😎👊🏻
Wooooo! I like it
Excellent 😇👊🏻
by mounting the shocks this way (the longconnecter pins), doesn't there come too much force on the holes of the shock towers?? (#curious #nicevideos)
Will it fit the manta ray because I'd buy it yesterday.
Going to have to change the spacers to get the full movement.
Perfection!!
I think it looks really nice this way too. Not sure if the carbon shocktower is good for any racing, thats some super thin carbonplate, I've seen twice as thick shatter on bad landings.
Yeah hopefully I’ll get the car out in the summer to see how it all feels in action 😅
Random question - is that a NIB TB Evo I spy waiting to be built? 🤔😎
Still not the ultimate fan of the Super Avante. Yet I am curious what Tamiya might end up doing with that chassis since it seems to have some potential - generally speaking
Please link to purchase Tamiya TD4 front shock conversion kit.
Ps do you want to sell your now surplus rocker arms?
Love it😍
Looks good.... does look quite fragile tho 🤔
higher wing i think like the original Avanti
Like I said I think the original look is better for me.
If it was a standalone td fine.
Looks a bit like the Egress
That looks the dogs dang lies
That's loads better the in bord puts me off the kit it would be better if they had the layout like the top cat I have one with a 10.5 t brushless setup and it's brilliant
You could sell your old bling
I've pestered revive a few times for him to make a original style wing to go with the body but, it's still a no show.
Tamiya doing this and calling it td 3 or td5.
I couldn't do this to my car if I had one.I couldn't do this I prefer the inboard shocks. I also think this takes away from the looks of the car. But I understand why you do it but I wouldn't do it.
