  • This is a non-profit channel dedicated to discovering and preserving of video artifacts of India’s cricket history. Most of the content was filmed by the Government of India for promotion, publicity, and distribution with the intent of bringing to public awareness India’s emerging social, political and cultural landscape. These film clips hitherto unavailable and at imminent risk of being lost are retrieved and presented here with the express goal of preserving and telling the history of Indian cricket to future generations.
I am hosting them on my channel as a labour of love for the gentleman’s game that cricket was once.

Superb upload sir, BCCI actually was very timid in those times and did not support Bedi

I remember well the Vaseline incident with Lever. England may have pulled the same trick in the 1974 series too, the one where India were bundled out for 42. It was an all around disgrace for fair play and cricket spirit. Unsurprisingly, Lever was cleared by MCC, such was the skewed power structure in international cricket those days. On a separate note, the "Jamaica Farewell" tune is a perfect accompaniment to cricketing nostalgia on this channel.

A poor test for India. It was also marred by the so called VASELINE controversy of John Lever. The match was jinxed from the 1st ball. Mohinder dropping Amiss of Madan Lal. I saw the match at Chepauk on all days was thoroughly disappointed. Underwood & Willis destroyed India with their bowling. I think this was the last test of Chandra at Chepauk (sadly).

John Lever used vaseline just to protect his left toe!

This was also the last test for Pras, Bedi, and Chandra at Chepauk. Only Venkat would go on to play 2 more tests here in 1979.

The Vasiline matter was nothing but just an excuse for the spineless captaincy of B.S. Bedi.

Watched this test. One of India’s forgettable matches. Only 694 runs were scored in 4.5 days in a low scoring affair. India scored only 247 runs in the match and it was actually an innings defeat. Apart from Lever who clearly had help probably with Vaseline, it was Underwood who impressed both with his bowling and fielding. He more than held his own against the spin trio of Bedi, Pras, and Chandra. Apart from Gavaskar nobody batted with any interest or determination for India.
