Great review. My only gripe is when you touch on braking. You have it backwards, especially the bit about low speeds.
You don’t want to add any untoward force on the front wheel.
Better to have your rear lock up then your front. If you’re in a turn and your front wheel slips, you’re very lucky if the bike corrects itself. 90% of the time you will go down.
Not to mention that using your rear brake will, as you said, help your rear tire step out, and assist you into turning. You can even use your rear while you’re on the throttle.
You definitely never use your front brake at low speeds in real life. Especially at parking speeds.
Trail braking is another thing entirely, and the front brake is especially good for this. The main difference with trail braking is that you’re on the front brake to pin your front end down before you begin your turn, and you trail off the pressure as you approach the apex and roll on throttle.
Nice review and many good points, thanks. Yes, a lot of great bikes are missing from Ride 3 and 2 that never reappeared in DLC sadly. The track selection isn't too bad, but I miss the more scenic tracks of past games. The AI riders are ultra skilled and tough to beat at times on very easy mode too, especially when just starting out with a bike without upgrades.
I'm still playing and enjoying Ride 2 on the xbox one x ....was on the fence about this one, and no even more so since watching this...thanks for your honest opinion
Have they made it so you can control the rear of the bike with the throttle through the corners and back it into the corners like on ride 2 ?
A concise review appreciate and good knowledge of real world combination
the sutter mmx 500 is included in the game and that's sooo awesome. The game is a declaration of love to bike riding and it is meant to be played in a first person camera view
Always wanted to get into the ride games. Feels like ride 1 just came out
@@closedyoutubeaccount6491 GP Bikes is the most difficult.
Ride 3 was my first game on the series and I liked a lot. Knowing the physics was revamped and some of my gripes with the career was changed is a good sign. But I'll wait for all DLC come out and buy with a huge discount as I did with Ride 3 this year
I’d strongly recommend picking up Ride 2 as well 👌
@@HSGAutomotive I don't pretend to buy a PS5 anytime soon. I'll put that on my list, thanks
So upset that my Xbox has stopped working a month ago. I love Ride, I've played every single game loads, and this looks absolutely fantastic.
Great to see the career mode changes. Because as much as I like a long career mode they locked way too many bikes behind it and it was wayyy too grindy even for me. And I like to grind
Definitely
Hi Mike! Believe it or not, I still play Tourist Trophy to this day and I also play the first Moto Racer every now and then. Obviously, both games are quite old by now, but it has always been about the fun I can have with them. I haven't got the chance to play any Ride game yet, but I'm really tempted to try my hand with Ride 2, specially now that it's on sale on Steam. As for Ride 4, I think I'll wait until it also goes on sale and further DLC comes out, which same as you, I'm not too happy about. Anyway, great review. Thank you for your honest thoughts and catch you in your next video. Have a good one!
Edit: No Y2K on Ride 4 either. Do we still have to make do with PGR4? I really want to see it in another bikes' game :(.
Nice one bud, hope you enjoy 2, and yeah, we need more Y2K action, lol
I just got it today, last motorcycle game I played was MotoGP (2000) LOL
Yeah I agree 100% with you on DLC. My general rule is when a new game releases, with the intent of a cash shop in a full price title, is to wait for the full bundle at an end of the year sale on steam. I have a huge backlog of games. You want my money? Like HSG I think you should sell me the whole game please.
@4:14 I am not too concerned because I didn't pay full pop for the base game. There are some steep discounts on steam keys out there.
This game is my all time racing game.. Ride 4 on PS5 is fantastics AI no problem now, multiplayer is quick & fun. Loading times are so fast. Love it...
I'm thinking about getting the dlcs game pack on sale for $60 us dollars on steam.
Were you playing on Xbox/PS4 or was this PC? The only reason I ask is that some of the content/races on PC were broken/far more difficult than the consoles for Ride 3.
Specifically, the test for the GSXR 1000 in Ride 3 was complained about and was never fixed.
PS4
Waiting for it to come home
whats your take on the overall input scheme in all these games, which fundmentally hasnt changed since the first games (not just milestones series and includes game by piboso etc who try the hardcore route). Imo, a realistic game should give you more control over the 2 separate entities. Your input is the same whether the rider hangs on the side of the bike and when he's sitting central, which ultimately limits not only realism but also range of input. You change everything with just one stick and that results in jerking straight line behavior and the game having to "help out" a lot. I understand not many would like it, and its not possible to get bike games 100% realistic, but i think its totally possible to improve this.
imagine 2 modes for the rider position for when he sits central and hanging over and you switch those manually via shoulder buttons. The great benefit is that when in either mode, you now have the complete range of the analog stick to make adjustment. Imagine being in neutral mode with the rider sitting central, and pulling the stick to either side will no longer have the bike attempting a 90° turn, but stays within a realistic limit, which allows for smooth lane changing and more precision. When you reach the braking zone, tip the should button and the rider hangs over the bike, and now the complete range of analog stick is exclusively designated for this modus giving you the same benefit. And when attempting to get the bike straight you push the stick to the opposite combined with the respective shoulder button and you're now back straight on the bike, or if tapped twice, hanging over the other side of the bike. You know what i mean?
Ayyy yo
I hope they add crusier motorcycle dlc more Harleys, Indian, and Triumph bikes.
@16:36 The difficulty spike in the license tests is quite annoying, unless you are a "balls to the wall" and "no driving aids whatsoever" seasoned rider.
Love ride4, butt i love isle of mann tt 2. I play iom tt 2 more.
Wish they added the king of baggers or the dyna.
I dont know how you dont get more views....
We can thank the absolutely fucking useless algorithm and the money-first dipshits who developed it at RUclips for that.
@@HSGAutomotive Google is rotten to its core. One can only wish for a change.
i am sad that there are just 3 supermoto bikes, and they used to be more,i hope they will add at least some of them back, because for now, that calss is lacking
I'm more concerned that mixed surface tracks are gone, like Franciorta and Ottobiano. It doesn't feel as good riding motocross if there's no dirt on the track
@@CobraAce04 i know, they neglected supermoto in this instalment of the game,i hope a dlc will have just, supermoto bikes and tracks
I’ll stick with Ride2 thanks. 👍🏻
Yeah I agree. Game still holds up really well.
I love most of game so far, the new carreer mode too, accept some of the licence challenges are ridiculously difficult to even get bronze and the AI needs some work too.
The checkpoint tests are a pain in the ass, such as the Fireblade on Mugello in this video. The auto rider even hits one of the poles himself at the start.
It sucks that the replay cam is better than the game cam.
electric bikes be like
*tea kettle*
I have to wait for the patch witch fixes the AI. I'm lucky if make t1 alive. AI is murderer.
Yeah you’d think they’d have the Ai down by the fourth game
Bought it last night, £18 special edition including all DLC, bargain.
Will not buy. I noted how many "invalid lap" notifications you got. They need to get rid of that.
In defense of the bike numbers, they did say repeatedly they remodelled every bike from scratch. It seems to have caused them the same issue Forza 5 did for Turn 10. They simply couldn't get everything in there and sacrifices had to be made, so I think through DLC the numbers will bulk back up, and Ride 5 will probably have a more complete bike list at launch whenever that eventually happens
We’ll have to see. It’s an odd choice to make when the next game will likely be on PS5 anyway, thus causing the same issue again.
@@HSGAutomotive THIS game is on PS5 though, it's getting the Next Gen upgrade when those consoles hit, and that's probably why they did it
they always say it made from scratch which very doubtful. Doesnt even make sense. Just like microsoft say they rewritten win11 from scratch when thats obviously not the case either
One thing that annoys me is how many of the free bikes are yamahas. The game crams yamaha down your throat at every turn.
Yeah and the Yamaha bias is blatant. Just compare the specs and they always have superior handling and brakes in particular.
@@HSGAutomotive yeah its kinda obnoxious tbh. Really puts me off the game.
@@persuadedterror925 I’d guess it was part of Yamaha’s licensing deal, as Energica and Lightning being gone I suspect was due to Harley’s Livewire. It is odd though, since none of the previous Ride games had a single OP brand.
@@HSGAutomotive yeah, it just tells me that they are open to totally unbalancing their game if a manufacteror throws money at them. Being willing to compromise the game experience for more money kinda makes me not wanna play it tbh
Not a lot of talk about the generic race bikes
Because that's nothing new to the series
@@HSGAutomotive Oh... I thought the other versions had real world bikes... I guess the RIDE series can't compete against FORZA/GT/PCARS games on that level..
@@Do.Christ They’ve had a few real ones here and there iirc, but they do a lot of the original style race modify versions like Gran Turismo and Tourist Trophy do
TT 2 is still so much better than this. Ride 4 has better graphics. That's all it's got going for it. Real bad physics. Milestone make Moto Gp games which are good. Don't know why Slide 4 is so bad. Severe understeers front end. Complete lack of grip rear end. Real bikes have far more grip & feel far more stable.
