This is awesome. I picked up a tangerine 400mhz iMac earlier this year. As I was tearing it down and cleaning it up, i picked up a 700mhz board from the bay, completely not realizing that the cpu's were not only in a different spot, but also that the divider panel was a bit different. So i spent awhile looking for a donor divider but in the end, i pulled off the heatsink thats attached to the 400mhz divider panel, and then designed and had milled a piece of aluminum to be a new "heat sink"... it screws into the 400mhz heatsink screw holes but is shaped to not hit any of the other components on the 700mhz board, just the cpu. it's been working so far, debating on doing a video, cause i'm not sure if anyone would really care or not haha. my main goal was to not end up with a ton of iMac parts floating around, because i made that mistake with iBooks and have a ton of parts for those all over the place.

You basically have my dream iMac G3. My eventual goal is to find a fully maxed out 700 MHz Summer 2001 iMac (either Graphite, Indigo, or Snow, doesn't matter), a for-parts-only Fall 1999 slot-loading iMac case in Blueberry, then swap the cases. Boomshakalaka. Honestly, if I could do this with an original 1998 Bondi Blue iMac, I would. Alas, the 1st and 2nd generation cases are not interchangeable. However, the Blueberry color on many of these donors is rather close to Bondi Blue in tone after 25 years of yellowing anyway lol.

When I replaced the speakers in mine it was the OEM ones that I bought on eBay from an Australian seller and they still sound good

    New subscriber here.
I thought a mod like that was impossible, but... I might give something like that a shot too sometime.
I noticed the power light on that iMac seems to go on and off continuously. I've actually never seen that before.

It’s actually just the video that does that, it’s not doing that in person

I am in urgent need of a video showing step by step exchange of the analog board of a slot in g3. Would that be possible?

I haven’t done it in a number of years. I’ll see what I can do.

A good video of you collection but you lost me a little (and maybe others) when you just pointed to iMacs and stated what was swapped in each one. Maybe have a list in your description of your rebuilt franken-iMacs, so to speak. The "CRT support" that you speak of is commonly known as an inner bezel for a slot-load iMac G3. They are very brittle and if you buy another iMac with a good bezel, it will be also brittle and crack also. There is a KickStarter on these inner bezels for a remolded one with no fire retardant injected into the plastic. This will prevent the brittleness and will hopefully last longer than the original inner bezel. I have a number of iMacs so I will be pledging for at least 10. I have done a few videos on iMac G3s and they show some cracks in the inner bezels. Keep up the good work!

Fair enough. I wouldn’t really call them Frankenim-iMacs. All of the machines that I’ve swapped stuff in, have had everything swapped. Motherboard, optical drive, hard drive, etc.
The only one that is a Frankenstein the the blueberry 700
I also saw the kickstarter and plan to donate. I probably will only buy 1 or two inner bezel as most of mine are now fine.
