Newest iMac g3 arrivals! Slot load grape and Sage!
Thank you for the guide! But really how does your front bezel come off so easily? I've been pushing and pulling on it for like 45 mins now and only got 1 clip out. The inner bezel is already in about 30 pieces so I'm scared to break it more.
Unfortunately not really. Some come off easy and some are a pain in the neck. Just be careful and move slow, that’s my only suggestion
dude u gotta realize how old these computers are and another thing is that its probably just a failed capacitor or something which is a VERY fixable issue
Okay well if you feel the need to spend hours figuring out which capacitor has failed feel free to fix them. I’m just saying that tray iMacs are specd worse, somewhat more annoying to work on, and frequently fail compared to slot load iMacs. I’ve had over 150 iMac G3’s and it’s always the tray ones that fail
My iBook g3 tangerine is having problems from booting the same burnt cd. I used a CD R and used the same restore image from Macintosh repository but it refuses to boot. How did you boot from the cd ?
Hmmmm that’s a weird problem! Normally works no issue. Could be a drive issue
hey, is there any possible way of you sending me the .iso file? I cant register on this side it sends me no verification email :(
I have a 350 mhz indigo, is it possible to put a 600 mhz board in ?
No
Hey The MacintoshBuyer! Much love from the UK - send us a bloody Clamshell battery would ya??? 😆❤
Wow! This is impressive. Which is your favourite?
Strawberry!
@@themacintoshbuyer4240 I want a tangerine but you can't get them here in the UK. You can get the G3 clamshell but I really don't like that design at all!
@@themacintoshbuyer4240 Apple played it safe with the new Imacs. They should be bold and go back to the late 90s with some brassy and bold colour designs
RUBY IMAC G3 REPAIR 😊😊😊😊
Dude I have a question. Do you know if a G3 tray loading top shell be swapped on a slot loading chasis? I've had a tray-loading Grape G3 for a while but the logic board is not working at all. I am being offered a working Blue slot-loading G3 for a reasonable amount, but the plastic is very damaged.
As far as I know, it cannot.
Update To searching an dv tangerine ,i found one 170€
I'm taking a Bondi tray at VCF this year, but it's going to need a flyback. Hoping I can save it! I also have a Lime DV that I've had forever and it's still one of my favorite Macs in the collection.
I got a 400Mhz G3 with ios 9 on it, but it states "ALLOC-MEM request to big!" when following the instructions. Any suggestions? D:
Hmmmm maybe not enough ram or bad memory stick
There is a VGA output connector on the back of my G3 for an external monitor. Problem with removing the CRT is getting the power supply "split" so the high voltage does not fire up when the device is turned on. A really industrious individual can create a platform to electrically populate all of the ports on the side of the computer. All you do is install a NUC inside or even a Mac Mini if one wants to be a purist. One must also take care in disassembly of the original machine since the plastic is quite brittle after 20 some years post production. I wonder if Apples copywrite is still active on this design, if not someone could come along and design a clone case that would allow the use of a more modern monitor and a place for an up to date mini computer. Maybe by stretching the width to fit todays widescreen monitors one could overcome any issues with Apple's designs.
O cara tem imac g3 pela casa toda
love a good sleeper fox
hi, im interested, can you tell me how contact you?
How can i order? could you please send me an email or something?
Super cool, love that second gear chirp. E cam?
B303!
Nice car! VGC and engine sounds great!
NICE!!
Awesome!
Good vid... quite helpful. Even turned it into a drinking game...take a shot every time he says "So...yeah" or "Umm...yeah"! 😂
Why
I love the retro look. the studio display still looks good
I have a tangerine one but it has matte plastic
Can you do a video on discharging the lethal voltage on the CRT before working in the back part? Great content, by the way!
On one of my earlier videos (2017 disassembly) I show how
@@themacintoshbuyer4240 Thanks!

This is awesome. I picked up a tangerine 400mhz iMac earlier this year. As I was tearing it down and cleaning it up, i picked up a 700mhz board from the bay, completely not realizing that the cpu's were not only in a different spot, but also that the divider panel was a bit different. So i spent awhile looking for a donor divider but in the end, i pulled off the heatsink thats attached to the 400mhz divider panel, and then designed and had milled a piece of aluminum to be a new "heat sink"... it screws into the 400mhz heatsink screw holes but is shaped to not hit any of the other components on the 700mhz board, just the cpu. it's been working so far, debating on doing a video, cause i'm not sure if anyone would really care or not haha. my main goal was to not end up with a ton of iMac parts floating around, because i made that mistake with iBooks and have a ton of parts for those all over the place.
how do i order from you
how much for the lime?
I have the indigo slot loading 500MGz
i dream to have one of these eventually. man oh man
Oh I may be interested in one that would’ve been on sale when I was born (January 2001) although I wouldn’t be able to actually buy it until August since I’m in Japan studying abroad. Don’t save one for me, but if there’s any left by then I might have more questions.
Sounds good!
can you watch youtube on them
No
@@themacintoshbuyer4240 so just for collectors
i've got an orange one of those. be careful the ribbon cables get very brittle. even years ago i remember the track pad one going just from taking it apart. they are fun little machines. someday i gotta get my cube out and see if it still works. deff snag one of those if you have not. the emac with the twilit swivel stand is also a trip
Do you not like the powerbook g3s?
Not that I don’t like them, I just prefer these
Hi I need buy ur mac hoiw much!
This was my first computer back in 2000 complete with 15 inch Cinema display. The display was almost as much as the Cube.
I love love the deli meat slicer idle sound of the clamshells. :)
i have a blueberry tray loading g3. it was in the trash and it was a bit beat up and it also has a failing flyback transformer so i have to fix that
or connect the vga connector to a pc motherboard for now
love the hdd read sound
It had OS 9.2.2 ready to go? Nice! This will be an awesome retro gaming machine.
Wonderful video! I'm glad you got the ones I couldn't get haha!
Thank you! 😁
Nice grab. Just found your channel, some good videos so far. Do you just do this for the love of the iMac G3/G4 and keeping the line alive? Is there a particular reason you put them on OS 9? That seems counter intuitive to the usual trend, newer, more whiz bang software. Anyway, good job.
Thanks! Yeah I just really like the late 90’s early 2000’s ppc stuff. As for why I install OS 9, these machines are soooo slow on osx. They’re okay when they have a decent amount of ram, but usually they don’t have a decent amount of ram haha.
@@themacintoshbuyer4240 My father's old Emac chugs on MacOSX and most of the web browser type stuff fails due to security agorithm issues. With OS9 it flies. I have it on dual boot anyway, so I can tinker with either. Most games from that era are either OS9 or PowerPC OSX. OS9 does run old old Mac stuff, so Mac can still run MacDraw but at 1Ghz.
I LOVE those Clamshell iBooks. SO ahead of their time. :D
How much did you spend on gas and the u-haul trailer? Would be interesting to know the total cost of the haul in CAD
Somewhere close to 1000$. U haul was 120 ish and a lotttt on gas when I was towing. Luckily the guy didn’t make me pay duty
which LCD monitor did you use, which one fits?
Just a standard 15” panel

I‘m still searching for the dv tangerine 🍊 and i would change the p ram battery upgrade to 1gb sd ram and upgrade the 10gb hdd to an like 200gb or 128gb ssd and get an ide to sata connector
I’ve got one but I think it’s pending sold!
@@themacintoshbuyer4240 even if you sell those i‘m in germany and shipping an imac that is made from plastic and glass
