Agreed, Lovecraft does an excellent job setting the stage, being descriptive, and getting into the character's mindset (even in circumstances like The Hound) without sacrificing the plot. I can only hope my imitation emulated even a fraction of his talent.
You can check them out here: creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/User:EmpyrealInvective/My_Stories I.C.U and A Good Ending are other Lovecraftian-style stories. Each one has a description if you're just looking for something to interest you.
It's the best kind of horror because in his stories , humans are surprisingly the weakest species and the protagonist rarely survives and they are in first person
Love the narration Doc. Your videos help me get through my nightshift at work, and this one made me so creeped out I jumped out of my skin when my co worker walked up to me. Thank you so much
Dr. Creepen, so at the part when guy gets dragged into the grotesque flesh anomaly, my co worker comes up behind me to tell me about some toilet humor, i nearly crap bricks from the detailed imagery given from it and i pictured that monstrosity than my 5"3 co worker grabbing my shoulder at that moment xD
It absolutely bewilders me that there are such brilliant authors out there who weave intricate, atmospheric tales such as this. This story had a grip on me the moment it started till the very end. Props to the author for a well-written and engaging story! Doctor, thank you for bringing these authors to light; I have discovered many wonderful authors since I started to listening to your readings. Wonderful narration of a gripping story, I loved it ❤️
This was a nice one to sit back and listen to. Pacing worked well and your narration style added to that! And I appreciate the long videos, thank you for always finding time somehow. :)
I loved this story Doctor, I'm a big love craft fan so maybe that's why it struck such a chord with me. The writing was superbly done and the narration was great as usual!
I'm late in finishing, but this was marvelous, Doc. You were perfect to narrate this. Lovely lovecraftian feel to the whole thing, and the Stoker name.
Oh I can tell you why you won dearest Dr, your voice is so very perfect for Lovecraft style stories. A style I am personally fond of. Interesting how Mr Stoker was serving the creature isn't it? Well I look forward to another wonderful tale on Wednesday, till then dearest Dr
I absolutely adored the alliteration in this story! Figurative language always grabs your attention, and I love the way this author used it. Well done, both of you! :D
Yeah, I'm a bit of an alliteration abusing asshole when it comes to writing. I do find it helps story flow and draw readers in. One of my favorite ones here is: "It looked like a tangled, jumble of sinew, skin, and sin similar to what a carrion bird would disgorge when it had feasted too much on the dead."
I enjoyed that bit, too! I love the flair it adds to your writing, and how it adds to your voice. Keep being awesome, I hope to hear more of your works!
Thanks, I'm wrapping up a few series (I finished up the Whispers series and am getting ready to wrap up Billy's series with a novel set to drop in October of December) if you want to get hype in the meantime.
Thank you so much for all the the stories you narrate, every night I listen to them to relax, now it doesn't feel right to get into bed without one of your videos on ❤️
I dig Lovecraft type stories! Awesome job by the author and, of course, expertly narrated by the good doctor. Loved it. Thanks again. See you tomorrow Doc.
Really enjoyed this one Doc. Hubris, folly, weakness, and the supernatural, then followed by a large slice of educated humble pie... and very well read.
Fantastic Lovecraft-style stories stroke one's imagination in such a way that they weave the vision of the horror the characters are experiencing straight into your senses! Next best thing to virtual reality. Thanks for reading this story, Doctor Creepen. You are a smooth talking MC of horror! :D
You just earned yourself a new subscriber! What a voice and way of narrating! Makes me feel like I'm in front of a fireplace lying on a pallet. Getting settled listening to bedtime night terror stories at a sleepover haha. Or tuning in on TV to old school shows like Elvira, Morgus Presents, Tales from the Darkside etc. Damn good narrator sir! Bravo!
Ooh really neat story! It does have that adventure horror feel like a lovecraft story lol :DThe part with the Faces melting off sounds so painful haha >.
My weekend just got immensely better thanks to you Doc! I am, unfortunately sick but thankfully you uploaded. Give my thanks to the author & I hope you have an awesome week
I really wanted to say that I loved the comic on this one...I had stopped watching cause I usually play these to help me fall asleep. Im gonna pay more attention to them again...so cute and creepy! I'll never stop loving this channel
Dear Dr, not only would it be wonderful to hear you narrate Lovecraft, but I dream of hearing you read War of the World's. Travis is the reason those ideas came to me which I believe shows the caliber of his work!!!!🙏🙏
I loved it! Lovecraft inspired stories are just amazing when done right. This one is no exception. Though, not to sound too much like a fan girl, but your voice makes these much better than me reading them alone.
Hello Dr. I've got a delicious coffee beverage and an eager heart, I'm taking some us time, lol! I do so pray you are in good health and cheer. It's great to kick back with you and listen. ☕📻🕯🎭
Puuuuleeese darlin, you can waffle on anytime you like and you know it ;). You do Lovecraft soooo bloody good. Loved the nod to Stoker as in Vampire as in Bram Stoker? lol
Maaaaaaaan...! You weren’t kidding about this having a Lovecraftian atmosphere! Damn! 😆 I can always count on the good doctor to pick some primo friggin’ tales. 🖤 Love the narration nuances ya pull and love this damn author for sure.
Lots of fun names in that roll call of the doomed. The Springfield! The Colt! If only the hapless and taciturn Blackwood had been there with his service Webley, perhaps it would have turned out differently. So much alliteration! So little chocolate almond milk! What fun!
Blackwood is likely to be a bit busy with wendigos currently... (creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/The_Journal_of_Kaneonuskatew_Blackwood) Good on you for catching that a majority of the names are Lovecraft-inspired authors and Ladd was where the latest necronomicon (necronomicon-providence.com/event/annual-lovecraft-tribute-service-ladd-observatory/) celebration was that I could dig up.
Doctor Creepen, I'm late but here to get my dose of medicine of pure & sheer bliss to my ears from the soothing sound of your voice. P.S Doctor Creepen, Are you on Facebook too or just here on RUclips? I was just gonna like your page if you were on there too.
Oooo yesh please don't mind if I do have a bit of the Dr while chilling with my doobie ;) thanks Travis for a wicked story and Dr creepens awesome narration xxxxx big love from south wales xxxx
I wanted to say that was a very interesting video you played while reading the story. Can you tell me more about it? As for the the story the author did an awesome job capturing Lovecraft's style. Your narration of it made it so much more suspenseful. Thank you.
Oh yes please do read some more Lovecraft you read it as it should be read.....I think I read almost everything he wrote in my 5th year....Another similar writer whose stuff I loved was Basil Copper,.....He actually finished some of Lovecrafts unfinished stories when H P popped off
Yeah, when I was in PC, I had a Lovecraft binge on Halloween and read through his stand-alone series on Halloween in front of a fire and it was glorious.
Lol turned the screen back on and saw some guy sticking molten glass on pinecones, started watching trying to figure what was going on and forgot to listen to story xD
Never understood why people have their stories posted under their screen name, as opposed to their real name. What would stop someone else from using the screen name, and then taking credit for the story?
Imagine him reading "Dagon" or "The Vault". I love when narrators take on older stories and put their own narrative spin on it. (inflections, musical accompaniment, etc.)
Dr Creepen wonderfully creepy story sorry your not A negative... Oh well all we vampire can do in day time is sleep .4 me I listen to YOUR narratives of the wonderfully blood storys hmmm nice way 4 a board vampire to do during the day. I 💘 your reads super🌷🙅💁💃💃💃💃✌👍😹❗🎀🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆🙆the smooking wood was freecky as the bloolb ate him n his skin fell off

speaking of H P Lovecraft do you think that u might perform one of his tales in the future - perhaps for the Halloween season, maybe" hallowe'en in a suburb"- thank you ,Doctor
I'd enjoy that. That being said, Barnabas Deimos and Stephanie Swan Quills both do Lovecraftian narrations that are pretty high class (they were two mentioned on the polls in this contest).
Dr Creepen's beautiful voice and that lovely video of glass-blowing are wonderful, but sadly they are too good for this sub-par attempt to imitate the inimitable work of H.P. Lovecraft.
Lovecraftian Horror is the best Horror in my opinion. It's not due to the shocking moments, I just find it so immensly fascinating.
Agreed, Lovecraft does an excellent job setting the stage, being descriptive, and getting into the character's mindset (even in circumstances like The Hound) without sacrificing the plot. I can only hope my imitation emulated even a fraction of his talent.

Always happy to help people through boring times at work :-)

i really like the dark humour horror, like "tales from the gas station" or the radio tower one. but this ones good too.
Thank you so much for all the the stories you narrate, every night I listen to them to relax, now it doesn't feel right to get into bed without one of your videos on ❤️
The vocabulary and diction of Lovecraft and his style of writings is something that I absolutely adore
I dig Lovecraft type stories! Awesome job by the author and, of course, expertly narrated by the good doctor. Loved it. Thanks again. See you tomorrow Doc.
Why don't you directly read his stories
Well well...dr.! It's amazing to see you again my friend. Another grand story and a voice to match.
Very Good Doc!! Some of it was Soo creepy!! I was dreading for them to see whatever was down there!! Thanks for choosing this one for us!
The visual part of the video was very satisfying.
Arts n craftz forget the precise type of art they're doing
Very good! It's hard to write a good Lovecraftian style tale. Loved the landmarks and other references in the story too. Great narrate Doc!
My goodness! I LOVE your narrating skills! The stories don't freak me out... Until you bring them to life. 🖤🖤🖤🖤
Really enjoyed this one Doc. Hubris, folly, weakness, and the supernatural, then followed by a large slice of educated humble pie... and very well read.
Not always a Lovecraft fan but your prescription of narration have done well here. Thank you Dr.
Not at all surprised you won, you're a fantastic narrator! Plus, you did such a great job with this story. ❤
My weekend is Monday and Tuesday:)! Great story for my day off.

The phenomenal writing is only equalled by your excellent narration! Absolutely great! Love and appreciation from the Motor City!

Great story and a wonderful reading, this is my favorite so far.

Still listening to your fantastic narrations, Doc! I just haven't been commenting as much! xD Thank you, Thank you, THANK YOU!
My weekend just got immensely better thanks to you Doc! I am, unfortunately sick but thankfully you uploaded. Give my thanks to the author & I hope you have an awesome week
Finally, a "Lovecraftian" story that actually feels kind of like Lovecraft, and not a slapdash word salad with "cyclopean" and "eldritch" thrown in.
Oh my dear Dr.Creepen... just the right dose to put me to sleep 😴😴💤💤🌙🌙😴😴
Time flys while waiting for dr creepen uploads 🌚
Damn Doc. Getting all kinds of attention. You deserve it fo sho.
glad you're still around my good man!
Only reason I don't completely hate mondays 🖤🍵
Erin - glad to hear it!
Yes, fall and (gasp) Halloween are coming, time for some Lovecraftian tales.
I love this amazing author and your voice is akin to a warm brandy enjoyed in front of a fireplace. Double blessings on a cold snowy night
I really wanted to say that I loved the comic on this one...I had stopped watching cause I usually play these to help me fall asleep. Im gonna pay more attention to them again...so cute and creepy! I'll never stop loving this channel

Thanx Doc great story.💙
Great Story! And you have an amazing voice! :)
Your voice is quite well suited to this story. I quite enjoyed it!
Now THIS was a mighty fine tale.
Lots of fun names in that roll call of the doomed. The Springfield! The Colt! If only the hapless and taciturn Blackwood had been there with his service Webley, perhaps it would have turned out differently. So much alliteration! So little chocolate almond milk! What fun!

Blackwood may have been caught up in the willows on his way to the Stoker estate. Hate when that happens.
The greed of man will always out weigh the the safety of the poor and desperate to what ever end they deem necessary to get what they want.
So happy when I saw the notification! Gives me something to do during the hurricane! Haha!
Stay safe out there.
Travis Kuhlman
Always!
Sierra Iniguez stay safe!
Great story and that thumbnail gives me the chills.
I absolutely loved it thanks
As a big fan of Lovecraft, I thoroughly enjoyed this story.
This was a damn good one caves freak me out anyways to bad you dont have one about the france catacombs that would be sweet

Great chilling story almost a believable or not tale brought to life. 🖤
I wanted to say that was a very interesting video you played while reading the story. Can you tell me more about it? As for the the story the author did an awesome job capturing Lovecraft's style. Your narration of it made it so much more suspenseful. Thank you.
I loved the video as well as the story! Keep it up ! Love from USA!!
This was an amazing work of art
Oh yes please do read some more Lovecraft you read it as it should be read.....I think I read almost everything he wrote in my 5th year....Another similar writer whose stuff I loved was Basil Copper,.....He actually finished some of Lovecrafts unfinished stories when H P popped off

You are the shit doc .Great story and great narration as always. Love ya doc.👍😘
Where's Carter in this cavalcade of Lovecraftian characters, collaborators, colleagues, and antecedents?
Great storytelling, Doc.
Lol turned the screen back on and saw some guy sticking molten glass on pinecones, started watching trying to figure what was going on and forgot to listen to story xD
ooo yeah I let out a little ek seeing this one is by Travis! sleep tight everyone 😚
Usually that eek is a groan of frustration. Thanks for giving this one a listen. Checking it out now.
Travis Kuhlman most definitely an ek of excitement!
Hope ya enjoy it then. I'm about halfway through myself and enjoying the narration.
L.andM.E ASMR

Never understood why people have their stories posted under their screen name, as opposed to their real name. What would stop someone else from using the screen name, and then taking credit for the story?
I adore you Dr creepen 💀💋😍 I listen to ur stories everyday major fan of your channel keep it spooky
Any chance of hearing some classic H.P. Lovecraft? Your voice would fit perfectly with the style of English Lovecraft wrote in!
Imagine him reading "Dagon" or "The Vault". I love when narrators take on older stories and put their own narrative spin on it. (inflections, musical accompaniment, etc.)
Omg this video is so satisfying 😍
I'm excited need some good lovecraftian horror in my life

Personal theory: the Stoker estate damn well knows what's down there. They're deliberately feeding it.
"The monstrous mound of meat", "The twisted tendril of tendons".
These are kennings, a traditional alliterative form in Norse story telling (fallen into modern disuse.)

Travis Kuhlman I really like Barnabas' work
Paul Cate I'll get round to it eventually
Dr. Creepen that would be great but I'll be happy as long as you keep narrating - you make alot of excellent choices
im i the only one who thought they saw a tampon at the beginning of the video
I hadn't noticed!
Lol. It's the mic.
Yes....
Dr Creepen's beautiful voice and that lovely video of glass-blowing are wonderful, but sadly they are too good for this sub-par attempt to imitate the inimitable work of H.P. Lovecraft.
Excellent author! You narrated it beautifully ❤️
The flesh monster, the tribals and the cave system, all of this reminds me of a game The Forest
