The 9800x3D is the epitome of the Ryzen series. Just when you thought the 7800x3D couldn't get any better, they just rearrange some shit and BOOM the cook is done
yeah if you can afford it, the 9800x3d is better for more experienced pc builders just for the fact alone that you can overclock it, it costs more than the 7800x3d but it's worth it right out the box even if you keep it stock. Otherwise if you just want X3D performance but you dont have the money for the 9000x3d series, get the 5700x3d if you want the cheaper DDR4 platform or the 7800x3d if you can afford the DDR5 platform
@@inS41NT it'll still hold plenty of value and if you wanted to, later when 9800X3D availability increases, upgrade for just a little more if you resell 78
AM4 is a historic platform for sure. I went from a 1600 to a 5600x to a 5700x3d all on the same board with pretty huge performance uplifts with every cpu.
I have a 5700x3d paired with a 7900xt and don’t plan on upgrading till 2028 when the am6 platform is around. Goal is to save 3k usd for a new custom pc and a 4k Oled monitor to go with it.
@@daedalus6433yeah if you’re in the market for a completely new build then the 9800x3d is the best choice. I’m still using an am4 build from 4 years ago and just dropped in a 5700x3d to replace a 3600x and damn it’s a massive upgrade
I built a 7800x3d 4070ti a few months back. Got everything for a really good price so I’m not salty about the 9800x3d’s release. My friend has been on am4 for almost 2 years and has been planning on maxing out his build with a 5800x3d and 4080/90 until recently when the CPU’s shot up in price. He’s since settled on a 5700x3d and 4070 super for half the cost and I think he made a great choice. He’s upgrading tonight from a 3700x/3060ti build. Looking forward to seeing the improvements.
amazing! I remember switching from 5700x to 5800x3d (seemingly minor change) but especially in Tarkov the difference was minblowing. That's why I always smile at the reviews where they say X3D doesn't really matter but oh boy does it matter in tarkov
Went from a 5800X to a 5800X3D back then and yes. it is such a game changer. Also in Hunt: Showdown. Got from fluctuating around 120FPS to stable 180 in that game.

Excellent video with great in insightful commentary and data tthat is very well presented. As impressive as the 5700x3d is (especially for the money), we have to give credit where its due and marvel at the improvement the 9800x3d brings over the 5x00x3d chips. It's hard to believe, actually, because the 7800x3d didn't move the needle nearly as much as much as the 9800x3d. Pretty amazing. Even so, I'm on the 7800x3d at the moment, and don't feel compelled to upgrade until prices settle down a bit. :) Thanks for another great video!
Especially when you see the 1% and 0.1% low, that sometimes even exceed the average of the 5700X3D... And you see how far a CPU can push a GPU like a 4090 in a CPU heavy game up until UHD aka "4K" where GPU limit is usually absolute King even with a 4090. But here you can also see how limited the GPU still was, and how much wiggle room still was left, thats why you never should go too cheap on a CPU, you could, sometimes unknowingly, choke off your GPU with it and then wonder why your numbers dont add up... I mean, look at Skyrim which just got 13years old and still gets modded to heck and back... Vanilla Game (i talk SE/AE tho, as LE is officially ded) is quite easy to run, even with entry level systems of the last 3-5 years, but oh boy can it get very heavy very quickly, when you start modding... and then ppl often ignore the CPU (and RAM with it) and wonder why their systems run like a sack of potatoes, even tho they have good mid tier+ GPU's... I'm on "Gate of Sovngarde" Modlist by Jay serpa + some own tweaks and additions and this runs very well, even with an ENB (Pi-Cho End for Azurite Weathers 2) and Enb Anti Aliasing (Mode: DLAA) in QHD with an RTX 3080 12Gig and an 5800X3D (32Gig DDR4 3600CL16), which outperforms an R7 7700X in that game when it comes to mods, despite being almost a full GHz slower and only running on DDR4, tho with the 3DV Cache and good overall performance, he only starts dropping at between 16 and 17K drawcalls, while the 7700X starts dropping at about 13K drawcalls. Other than that the Modlist still runs pretty much always over 60Fps, even with ENB and ENB AA, only the most demanding areas drop to about 50. And now imagine a 9800X3D with DDR5 6000 CL30 (sweetspot memory, with potential up to 6600 in 1:1 depending on silicon lottery)...^^ Cache is King and when you add some cores and Clocks to it...DAYUM! 😊
5700x3d still doing fine, but the 9800x3d is a beast in it's own league. I have the 5700x3d and will probably not upgrade until AM6. With that said, I mostly play AAA games.
Still running my 5800x3d and just cant bring myself to spend the money on the 9800x3d. the 5800 is still such a beast, although I have played some games on someone elses 9800x3d and it definitely is a noticeable uplift, just cant see why I'd spend the money yet.
@@zellerthefeller It all depends on your needs, graphics cards, resolution, how many FPS you want in a certain game and so on. I have two systems based on 5700x3d and are very happy for my needs. I basically get a bit slower (like 5-10% when CPU limited of course) performance in average VS something like a R7 7700.
Just finished my 9800x3D and 4070ti Super PC build. Absolutely amazing. Originally, I bought the 5800x3D back in April because I didn't want to spend the money on an AM5 platform, but even that wasn't enough for MSFS. The 9800x3D combined with the 6000Mhz ram made a huge difference, esp in 2K.
I have just started my FS2024 build with the 9800X3D and 8400MHZ RAM hopefully in time for release. What I noted about the tech alpha was that my 4090 was at times under 99% load which looks very positive given that I was running a 5950X.
@@deloford you know there is little to no benefit to use 8000 ram with this CPU ? except maybe in productivity, I believe 6000 cl30 or 6400 cl30 (if you can run it) with 1:1 sync infinity fabric is still the sweet spot, also, 8400 ram sounds tricky, even 8000 seem not to be easy to run.
@strongforce8466 in most scenarios it's only a few FPS but I saw a test that showed Flight Simulator has a big increase in 1% and 0.1% lows (stutters), a big outlier from most games probably due to the large reliance on big texture transfer and loading as you approach airports etc. For the sake of an extra £100 on a £1300 build is worth it for me as this is gonna last me 5 years hopefully. Hardwareunboxed managed to run 8100Mhz on the Tomahawk I believe. And also anything over 7400 beats 1:1 infinity fabric. Look if it doesn't happen fair enough but I am gonna have a go!
@@deloford Ah yeah in some very specific games engines maybe, since you're a fan of microsoft simulator it make sense to go for it and as you said, it's not that much more expensive anyways, however I had missed that he talk about memory scaling in the 9800x3d video so I went back to check and he show only 3 games but from 1 to 2% difference, it would be interesting to see it tested on many more games including flight simulator.
Coming from an i9 9900k to 5700x3d, it took just a motherboard change, and the difference is insane. I play at 4k with DLSS myself to get the desired FPS in a 4k 144hz monitor, and it works perfectly for the price. My opinion is that 7800x3d and 9800x3d would be for people who need fps count like 360fps+
Hey, could you please tell me which monitor do you use and the GPU? And what's your tarkov settings, medium or high, you will help me that way, because I also want to upgrade to this resolution and it will save me lots of money
Built my new rig last week with a 9800x3d and 4080 Super, playing on ultrawide 1440p I can somehow maintain > 100fps in Streets without using DLSS - I was absolutely shocked to see the performance. This build is sticking around for a long time!
Awesome video and excatly what I was looking for when the new CPU blew up in popularity. I'm on a R7 5800X3D + 3080 FTW and while its tempting, I'm looking for a 4090 first when the 5080 upgraders try to sell off theirs.
Great video, I've been following along your X3D reviews for a while now. I'm "stuck" with a 4090 and 4K monitor and my AM4 5800X3D just doesn't seem to be able to produce 1/0.1% lows high enough to make the game feel smooth. I guess AM5 and a 9800X3D is a must, haha.
5800x3d with 4090 here, as much as i wanted a 9800x3d to upgrade to im thinking right now i get a new monitor instead with high refresh rate and oled panel as i definitely don't want to pay scalpers and some sweet deals on monitors going on right now. Thanks for all your videos !!!!
I remember i bought the 5800x3d just for tarkov a few years back. Quit playing due to burnout like 4 or 5 wipes ago but its crazy to see that the new 9800x3d blows the AM4 X3d's out of the water.
I was lucky enough to get a 9800x3d at a nearby micro center during black friday week with a roughly $30 discount because of a bundle deal. it has been a huge improvement over my previous 11700K
Thank you very much for the benchmarks. Despite having used AMD processors for around 25 years, a few years ago I went from a Ryzen 5 1600X to an i7-10700K and my jaw dropped when I saw the leap in performance I achieved in Skyrim. It even seemed like I had updated my graphics card at the time, a GTX 1080Ti. Now with an RTX 4090 and an i7-1270K, I'm upgrading the processor to a 9800X3D and my fear was precisely the performance at the lowest 0.1% FPS. This video came to dispel these fears of mine.
Still rocking my 5900X from Late 2020. Thinking of switching to 5700X3D since I mainly game, but thinking of waiting until going all out for the 9800X3D with a X870E motherboard in the near future instead. It’s more a want than a need my 5900X is still going strong for my use case paired with a 4080 Super. AM4 is a legendary platform.
AM4 is indeed legendary, soooo goood. 5900X to 5700X3D you'll still see maybe like a 30% uplift in tarkov performance. Basically, all the vanilla 5000s perform similarly in tarkov and all the X3D 5000s perform the same. 5950X vs 5800X3D tarkov: ruclips.net/video/f3Ugn09pTWA/видео.html
I sold my 5900x late 2023 for a 5800x3D and it was an improvement. But then a few weeks later I sold the 5800x3D and went 7600x/x670/32gb 6000mt cl30 for like $40 more out of pocket. That 12 core cpu is a waste for gaming and a 6 core 7600x will perform about the same to the am4 vcache parts. Don’t hold onto that part as you can sell it easy for about a 7600x price.
@@45eno I got in my 5700X3D and about to install it now. It should be a decent gaming upgrade from my 5900X. I could sell my 5900X to cover the cost of the 5700X3D and then some.
@@Bottlecapy Nice. I certainly noticed an improved sustained FPS or 1% lows performance. I learned the high core count productivity CPU's can easily be bested by faster lower core CPU's after that. The 5800X3D and 7600X performed very similarly. Certainly sell that 5900X for $170-220 asap before it devalues anymore.
I did this same thing. I was on a 5900X and just built a new AM5 system with 64GB of CL30 6000mhz RAM, a 9800X3D and 3080Ti (putting in a 5090 once it comes out). I will say, you may think the 5900X is working well with the 4080 Super, but you will be quite surprised when you see the difference that an X3D chips makes when it comes to frame pacing and the substantial improvement it makes to your 1% lows. Games will feel so much better to play. Even in games where you may only go from like 90FPS to 120FPS, the improvement to frame pacing makes it feel so much smoother than the average frame rate is able to communicate. There is a big difference between 90 FPS with inconsistent frame pacing and 90 FPS with extremely stable frame pacing. It's hard to explain but games just feel much smoother to play that your conditioned to think it will be based on what you expect at different frame rates. It's pretty clear there are aspects of videogame rendering that the metrics we currently use struggle to fully capture and communicate. Anyways, the thermals/clocks on the 9800X3D are insanely good. It's quite something. While the 5900X theoretically has a 4.9Ghz boost clock, the cores basically never hit that clock speed for a sustained period. Certainly not with an all core boost. In those situations I was getting like 4.3-4.4Ghz all core. And that's even with PBO and Curve optimizer. if I tweaked it to improve single core perf, I was be able to get maybe 4-5 cores to occasionally hit just under 5.1ghz for a few seconds at a time on lightly threaded workloads. And it would be using up to ~1.45v With the 9800X3D, it will just sit at 5.2Ghz all core boost straight out of the box without any tweaking whatsoever. And that's while using a voltage of ~1.1v. Even under all core, 100% utilization, sustained loads, the temps don't even hit 70c. Tops out at about 68c. Games are so much smoother due to having away higher 1% low fps. I didn't even realize how many little microstutters I was still experiencing on the 5900X. It's 1000% worth the money. If Intel had this kind of CPU, they would have sold these for like $800. Fortunately I live near a Microcenter, so I was able to get one at MSRP the day they launched. Even if you have to wait a bit longer to go with AM5 and a 9800X3D, I still think that's the way to go in the long run. Over time, the gap between the 5700X3D and the 9800X3D will continue to expand. Ignoring IPC improvements, just the difference in silicon quality and process node/packaging will enable quite a bit more performance headroom that I'm not even tapping into currently. If it makes sense in your overall build and if you can ge one at MSRP, I'd definitely say it's worth the money. Honestly, I think it's still being bottlenecked somewhat by the IO die. Assuming they improve that with Zen6 and give it an improved IO die like the Zen5 EPYC CPUs got, I think there's a fair bit of performance still there to be had. OFC there is the motherboard pricing to factor in. And if your not upgrading the GPU with Blackwell I can get wanting to stay on AM4. Either way I think you will be pleased with the improvement. But man, the 9800X3D really is something special. There is a big difference in silicon quality between TSMC's 7nm+ used for Zen 3 and TSMC's N4P 4nm node that was used for Zen 5 (at least for the client computing version) Some of that may just be due to better binning, and the fact that the 5900X uses lower quality, partially defective chips. But even so, I don't remember seeing any Zen 3 chips have boosting behavior as stable as this. I'm assuming pricing will eventually drop on the 9800X3D, as well, once the supply situation improves. Best of luck with whatever you choose!
Love your videos man I have been watching for a minute I have seen all of them using the 5700x3d because I am looking at moving to it from my ryzen 5 3600 I have it paired with my 4070 I am excited to see the performance boost
I know right many RUclipsrs that review the CPU say it's basically ranges from 8% to Max probably 10 on average for games across the board sad to see AMD with a weak launch for the 9000 series just think about what they could have achieved what's a proper CPU launch and then these x3d variance would even be bigger@@xDAKPRODUCTIONSx

I upgraded from the 1600AF to the 5700x3d back in September and had it paired with my 7700xt but the card died and been having issues getting a new one. Luckily I still have my old trustworthy Vega 64. Gotta love keeping old parts and gotta love bang for buck parts

I went full bore into an am5 build. Got lucky and grabbed the 9800x3d from Newegg 30 minutes before it was supposed to go on sale. It's been the greatest leap in gaming performance since my AM4 chip.
i'd be interested in benchmarking menu responsivness. i see some streamers flying through the stash/flea/traders while for me, every screen transition takes a long time, i wonder if you'd be able to identify the bottleneck for this
Could that be a delay caused by ping? I'd imagine there would be serverside checks for your trade interactions that you cant really help on your end besides moving physically closer to the server. Another game I played had terminals that were noticably more responsive on low ping.
I decided to 'upgrade' from a AMD 5950X to the new AMD 9800x3D... and i'm blown away by the performance. Not only that, I'm able to run the 9800X3D at 5.4ghz and it does not go above 70C in any benchmark or stress test. During gaming it never goes above 50C and at idle it's always sub 30C. What a remarkable cpu!
It's so damn impressive how much of a performance leap the 9800X3D is - in general when it comes to gaming. This massive boost however only really shines in low resolutions like 1080. Especially in 4K then the GPU becomes a bottleneck, the CPUs power still is just fkn brutal but really can't use its muscles there. I'm really excited how the 9800X3D will perform combined with a RTX 5080 and especially RTX 5090.
you can buy the deal from microcenter for a ryzen 5 7600x3d its close to the 7800x3d at 1440p and there is a bundle for around 450 or lesst with mobo ram and cpu.
I bought a 5700x3d this summer and I feel like it will be the best thing ive done in years. To me this CPU is the equivalent of the GM 4.8L LS, with a turbo.
Great video and tests! I may not play Tarkov but know how impressive this is, for both cpus actually. If you happen to have some lower spec cards, 6700xt, 3070, 6800xt, 3080 etc "even down to the 3060 or 5700xt this comparison could be huge for the average player who have those cards to see what they could get off of a cpu upgrade alone "especially hopping from earlier non x3d am4 cards to the 5700x3d....Noted since those who have done similar tests have gotten a ton of hits and I think you could put together a great set of videos in a way most don't by using the 4090 as the standard for frame tests. Some have no idea just how much of a gain they could snag for $175-200 usd in the 5700x3d or some like a guy today who said he was buying and pairing a 4090 with his 3900x. Said he couldn't afford a cpu upgrade and I advised him that on an am5 x3d with his 3080 could net a lot more frames per $ than jumping from his 3080 to 4090 then being bottlenecked.
I've been running the 7800x3D with a 4070 super for a while now. Tarkocv has been running great but ofcourse I still find huge lag spikes on streets and lighthouse. BUT, the best investment I've done, is getting 64gb ram instead of 32. Now I reach on average 124 fps on streets and 138 fps on lighthouse. So I do recommend to pump up your ram if your struggling with lag.
Great vid. Amazing how far AM4 has come. Regarding motherboards... While the 5700x3d will work in a B450 & A520, but I would certainly caveat that phrase with the fact those lower tier boards will not optimally pair with RTX3k, RX6k or higher GPUs, because the b450 and a520 do not support PCIE gen 4. And those lower tier AM4 boards oddly go for a similar price as a cheap B550. So definitely don't buy an A520 or B450 (new or used) for a new budget build. I learned this lesson the hard way when I bought a 5800x3d and 7900xt to upgrade an A520 board build.
surprisingly, even with older boards with gen3 lanes, the performance hit is not gigantic, but I agree because prices are not that different for something like a B550, if you're buying something anyways, might as well opt for something with gen4 lanes
its been a 3 week that i have build the new rig, its just blows my mind the price to performance on this cpu when gaming, its nutz from aliexpress 5700x3d strix x570-i used 2x16gb 3600mhz thermalright pearless assassin 120 se cooler from old rig corsair 750w msi 3060 12gb 1tb sata ssd 250gb sata ssd
Can't wait to build my next pc with AMD for the first time( for last 15 years i have been always having Intel+Nvidia(sometimes AMD, R9 290 oh boy that was a legend) I will go with Ryzen 5 7600X3D because it cost 300$ instead of 600$ for 9800X3D
If you're one of the lucky few who can get the 7600x3d at Microcenter, then you absolutely have to do it! It's hard to believe you can buy that much performance for that price, and if you can get one it's not even worth considering anything else in that price category. :)
yes, that's where i got mine. I got the last one at my location on launch day, but it looks like MC's are getting restocks quick! congrats on the pickup!
Found a 5700x3d for $190 flat. Glad I didn't have to leave AM4 and break the bank getting new hardware. This upgrade got me at least 20-30 more fps just off this chip alone compared to my ryzen 7 5800x at 1440p.
5700X3D can be had new for around 190 pounds, which is cheap in today's market, around 100 pounds less than my Q6600 cost back in the day. Currently running my old as hell i3 8350k no hyperthreading no massive amount of lvl 3 cache and yes it's struggling to play titles such as PUBG and Tarkov so i have been in the market and the 5700X3D seems like the right choice just Mobo and CPU will make me feel like a king once more, the 3050 8gb version will suffice with the massive massive upgrade in the CPU dept. Nice review thanks.
I know your trying to keep the test setups around the same but 4x ddr4 likely increased latency by 2x There was no real time cpu usage shown on screen, some RUclipsrs when doing comparing the 5800x3d vs Intel or/and 9800x3d have been showing the 5800x3d only using 4core/threads (25-30% 5800 load vs 9800 50-80% load) witch is usually related to AMD driver core parking half the cpu incorrect (using the same test ssd between test benches)
heyy i have been seeing a lot of your videos lately and i wanted to ask if i should go for the 7800x3D with the 7800XT and 1080p monitor for rust or thr 7700x with the 7800XT and a 1440p monitor for rust??? anyways thank u a lot for these videos
personally i'd go with 7800X3D because there's a large performance difference. It can take you up to 4K high performance gaming and leave you the option to change your monitor later down the line. These days, even 1440 high refresh monitors can be found for pretty damn good prices, especially with black friday comin up
If you have a system that runs at the moment or just a decent gpu, you really may want to look into the 8800xt which is coming in the next few montha and while some claim 7900xtx performance for $500, if it was worst case $600 and placed somewhere mid ways between the 7900ct and xtx it will be a steal. Also as you may have seen, 7800xt prices and 7900xt as well have been falling recently trying to dry up sales before the 8800xt launch so you will save the longer you wait if a 7800xt would do what you wanted. .... If you happen to be in the US and a Micro-Center is near, they have the 7600x3d at $300 or a kit with it + b650plus wifi Asus Tuf motherboard and 32gb of ddr5 ram for $400. You may want to sell the ram for faster down the road but with inflation on the 7800x3d nearing 9800x3d as stock dries up you could have the combo for close to the same price as the 7800x3d alone. The 7600x3d can be had elsewhere at a good price just not that epic. From tests I have seen just barely lags behind a 7800x3d for gaming and would free up the extra cash towards that 1440 monitor or bumping that 7800xt to a 7900xt if you didnt have a card to run for a few months to wait for the 8800xt. "not trying to swoop in with recommendations @pyurologie , just a bit of an AMD junkie haha love your work man especially this video! . "
Upgrade for me for AM4 platform from 2018: 2600x -> 3600x 3600x -> 5600x 5600x -> 5700x3d All made real difference overal performance. AM4 still rocks.
I have a 5800X3D and a 3080 ti, I plan on upgrading to a 5080, and was wondering if a 5080 and a 5800X3D is a good pairing or if it's worth it to bite the bullet and also upgrade to a 9800X3D
5800x3D/w 7900XT has been rock’n at high detail on 4K monitor...see no need to upgrade for at least another couple years for the AM6 series. the days of game tech outpacing hardware are basically over, good hardware has much longer legs nowadays...
I was switching over my nephews components into his new case and found out that he has the ryzen 7 3700x. I bought him the ryzen 7 5700x3d paired with his 3080 ti. He should be good for another 5 to 10 years. 🎉
It might depend on what GPU or Memory you have, but the average difference of 3~60 FPS on streets seems huge, and I'm a streets lover with 5700x3D. I was very happy after witnessing how one CPU can change the entire game, by upgrading from 5600X to 5700x3D. And there's still more lol. My only wish is, that it's almost 720 USD here in my country, which is a fucking thievery, so the price can settle down a bit. Other than that, I'm hyped to see that my streets game can possibly get much smoother in the future
@@pyurologie Yup, most of the so-called "reputable" electronic shops here, put a "premium" price layer on top of the regional MSRP, with the name of items in "high-demand"(It's somehow true, but 30~40% price increase from original price is still a madness). We call it the infamous "Yongsan Premium", because most of them are located in Yongsan. This shit has been done for decades and people have been calling them out since then, but nothing seems to be changed. We just hope the few fair and reasonable stores can get more stocks from AMD so the other fucks that go over $600 can screw themselves 😭
yeah, damn scalpers went crazy with all the hype surrounding the 9800X3D. Here's my 9800X3D vs 7800X3D comparison: ruclips.net/video/nDXE05RnepI/видео.html The 7800X3D is still a beast and will hold value for a long time going forward. When 9800X3D prices settle, you could also resell the 78 and move up to 98, just drop it into same setup when the time comes
how are the frametimes on your x3d setups? cant get my 7800x3d to be stable in this game ive tried stock and tightened timings and nothin worked i just get massive dips on mine
Yeah realistically 32gb of ddr5 with expo enabled should be just fine. And having the game downloaded to an nvme ssd or even a sata ssd. I've never had any issues with my 7800x3d. Also the issue may be running out of vram, depending on your GPU. Try lowering texture quality and see if that helps.
constant dips or is it at certain times during raids? The game produces dips normally when loading in AI at the beginning of raids and a couple times throughout raids. lmk
I switched from 3700x to 5800x3d and gtx 1080 non ti to rtx 4080 and change was night and day. I shouldn't need to upgrade until at least the next platform change.

yes, even the old AMD Wraith stealth cooler will be adequate at a minimum. I'd recommend the peerless assassin for the best bang for the buck air cooler. Even the best cooling paste will make a really minimal difference. peerless assassin: amzn.to/493gFLp
Now i have ancient Asus X370 A motherboard, R5 5600X and 32 Gb of cheap GSkill Aegis RAM run at 3200 MHz CL18 XMP profile. Thinking about change only CPU to 5700X3D especially for EFT. How do you think, will i have significant change ? All i want is stable 90+ average FPS.
@pyurologie thank you for answer and for good videos. How important is good memory for a 5700X3D ? I'm afraid that due to the 3200 MHz RAM bottleneck, the upgrade won't give a noticeable boost

Bro thanks a lot! Super helpful! I wathc all your videos and they are gold!!! Do you encode in AV1 and do you think a 4080 can handle stream and record in AV1 CQP 1440p while playing? I think 4080 have dedicated AV1 encoders but does it reduce fps while you play, record and stream at the same time? Thanks A LOT bro 🎉 and continue your great videos Followed🎉
no problem, thanks for checking out my channel! for recording, I encode in H.264. For streaming, I use AV1 + H264 and still barely lose FPS. You can see some of my streams here when I'm streaming AV1 to youtube and H264 to twitch at the same time: ruclips.net/video/OJuzNPZwFTU/видео.html. With 4080, you should not lose too much as well, maybe 10-15% probably
I dont understand how this will improve my FPS. I play with a 7800x3d and a rx 7900xt. My gpu is on 99% usage but my CPU at 20-30% when playing tarkov. When i switch to a better cpu this shouldnt improve my experience ?! Can someone explain this to me
If you play with the graphics on high and a high resolution you are demanding the video card to the maximum, if you lower the graphic options you leave room for the CPU to squeeze more fps
9800X3D will net you a large upgrade if you can get your hands on one. 3080 will already max out 1440 settings in tarkov. here's my 3080 playlist, you can check out the benches in there: ruclips.net/video/Y2tMVv8fgIU/видео.html
4k highest settings (no RT) + DLSS balanced (or performance mode, dont remember exactly...) is equal to 14440p native with highest settings (no RT)i therms of fps
6800XT, 6950XT, 7800XT, 7900GRE, 3080, 3080Ti, 4070 all max out 1440 for tarkov. depends on how much you wanna spend and other games you might play, but I wouldn't go higher than these cards because at the next step up you can spend a lot more, but not get much more benefit.
My man, now that STALKER 2 is out and we keep hearing that the thing is VERY cpu-demanding, are you planning to do some benchmarking showing how the 9800X3D deals with the game? CHeers!

Hi bro, can you please tell me is it worth switching from 5700x to 5700x3d ? Mine is already tuned 2% above 5800x in benchmarks with -30 CO. I wanted to upgrade to 5800x3d but i can't find it any more and i wanted to freshen up my am4 platform. I'm playing in UW 1440p

i just did a 5700X3D vs 9800X3D comparison: ruclips.net/video/p2IAUxDGk0M/видео.html Basically, 5700X3D is best bang for the buck upgrade possible for AM4 users. 9800X3D is best in class and still a great value if you can find at MSRP now. Depends on your budget and preferences. I have tested both 7900XT and XTX. Both are great cards, but overkill for 1440. 7800XT is the ideal 1440 card, or 7900GRE. Because the next step up, prices go up a lot more but you don't get much more benefit in games really. I'd rather spend the extra scratch on a nicer monitor, keyboard, or mouse. These will directly impact your experience way more. or even just pocket the extra cash and save some money

Thanks for another great video!
Vanilla Game (i talk SE/AE tho, as LE is officially ded) is quite easy to run, even with entry level systems of the last 3-5 years,
but oh boy can it get very heavy very quickly, when you start modding...
and then ppl often ignore the CPU (and RAM with it) and wonder why their systems run like a sack of potatoes, even tho they have good mid tier+ GPU's...
And now imagine a 9800X3D with DDR5 6000 CL30 (sweetspot memory, with potential up to 6600 in 1:1 depending on silicon lottery)...^^
Cache is King and when you add some cores and Clocks to it...DAYUM! 😊

AM4 is indeed legendary, soooo goood. 5900X to 5700X3D you'll still see maybe like a 30% uplift in tarkov performance. Basically, all the vanilla 5000s perform similarly in tarkov and all the X3D 5000s perform the same.

And it would be using up to ~1.45v
With the 9800X3D, it will just sit at 5.2Ghz all core boost straight out of the box without any tweaking whatsoever.
There is a big difference in silicon quality between TSMC's 7nm+ used for Zen 3 and TSMC's N4P 4nm node that was used for Zen 5 (at least for the client computing version)
Some of that may just be due to better binning, and the fact that the 5900X uses lower quality, partially defective chips.

Back in the day I use to always upgrade to the best of the best, these past 5-6 years not so much. I upgraded from the 1600AF to the 5700x3d back in September and had it paired with my 7700xt but the card died and been having issues getting a new one. Luckily I still have my old trustworthy Vega 64. Gotta love keeping old parts and gotta love bang for buck parts
I just built a new pc, 9800x3d with a 7900xtx - my old setup was a 5900x I think with a 1080ti - now I can play streets on full ultra settings - no low res mode and stay above 100fps… the difference is astonishing.
awesome, love to hear it! yes it's a new universe compared to vanilla 5000!
i was really lucky to be able to get my 9800x3d (at msrp) shipped only a week after release
i went from 80-85 avg fps with my 7900x to ~130 avg on streets 1440p online now i get to fully leverage my 3080ti's performance in tarkov
the crazy thing is with the new cpu i never drop below 100fps on streets even while using a lpvo
aggreed on my previous cpu id struggle to hit 60 using an lpvo on streets
Im on a 3080fe with a 3600 and man my cpu is struggling. Sad the 5800x3d is gone. Going to upgrade to the 5700x3d. And then next year build a new pc with a 9800x3d and a used 4080s fe. I went full bore into an am5 build. Got lucky and grabbed the 9800x3d from Newegg 30 minutes before it was supposed to go on sale. It's been the greatest leap in gaming performance since my AM4 chip.
nice job on the pickup! yeah 9800X3D is amazing isnt it
i'd be interested in benchmarking menu responsivness. i see some streamers flying through the stash/flea/traders while for me, every screen transition takes a long time, i wonder if you'd be able to identify the bottleneck for this
Could that be a delay caused by ping? I'd imagine there would be serverside checks for your trade interactions that you cant really help on your end besides moving physically closer to the server.
Another game I played had terminals that were noticably more responsive on low ping.
yeah i'm not sure how to speed that up, never tested it myself. i'll put that on my to do list
What a remarkable cpu!
incredible right? congrats!!
Still rocking the og 5800x3d. Tnx for the vid.
my personal favorite CPU of all time, shifted the industry!
Me to, but i'm still considering going to am5 sometime next year when price and availability is normalized😄🙃 and then sell the am4 bundle.
Just had delivery of my 9800X3D, Tomahawk 870 and GSkill 8400 48GB RAM.
Paired with my current 4090 I should be good for a few years!
@EthanolEnthusiast yep 32 is not enough for some of the work I do. 64GB cannot be run at 8000MTs so 2x24 is the sweet spot.
congrats! yeah you're set for a WHILLLLE :)
I was able to upgrade from the i7-8700 from intel to the 9800x3d at MSRP 479$. Total upgrade was a bit over 900$ because I got a new case as well.
oh wow! what an upgrade! congrats!
Thank you so much for this! I'm still on the AM4 platform, and the 5700x3D is a great (and affordable) CPU! :)
you're welcome! yes, 5700X3D still pound for pound best gaming CPU out there in my opinion!
you can buy the deal from microcenter for a ryzen 5 7600x3d its close to the 7800x3d at 1440p and there is a bundle for around 450 or lesst with mobo ram and cpu.
7600X3D is a killer deal yes
I bought a 5700x3d this summer and I feel like it will be the best thing ive done in years. To me this CPU is the equivalent of the GM 4.8L LS, with a turbo.
The 5700X3D is a true game changer, it's really amazing what they did with that chip.
This weekend I upgraded from my old i7 7700k to the 5700x3d (running the same nvidia 3070) and my performance in Warzone is sooooo much better.
Nice! That's an awesome upgrade!
Planning on upgrading from a 9700k paired with a 6800 XT to a 9950X3D when it releases, should boost my frames alot in Tarkov.
Your channel is the best! Thanks

If you're one of the lucky few who can get the 7600x3d at Microcenter, then you absolutely have to do it! It's hard to believe you can buy that much performance for that price, and if you can get one it's not even worth considering anything else in that price category. :)

This is a much bigger difference than I expected
yeah, 5700X3D still a beast, but 9800X3D has advanced a lot
I know your trying to keep the test setups around the same but 4x ddr4 likely increased latency by 2x
There was no real time cpu usage shown on screen, some RUclipsrs when doing comparing the 5800x3d vs Intel or/and 9800x3d have been showing the 5800x3d only using 4core/threads (25-30% 5800 load vs 9800 50-80% load) witch is usually related to AMD driver core parking half the cpu incorrect (using the same test ssd between test benches)
heyy i have been seeing a lot of your videos lately and i wanted to ask if i should go for the 7800x3D with the 7800XT and 1080p monitor for rust or thr 7700x with the 7800XT and a 1440p monitor for rust???
anyways thank u a lot for these videos
personally i'd go with 7800X3D because there's a large performance difference.
It might depend on what GPU or Memory you have, but the average difference of 3~60 FPS on streets seems huge, and I'm a streets lover with 5700x3D. About to purchase a new rig with a 7800X3D chip, what would be the most ideal GPU and RAM configuration for max performance at 2K res in Tarkov?
6800XT, 6950XT, 7800XT, 7900GRE, 3080, 3080Ti, 4070 all max out 1440 for tarkov. depends on how much you wanna spend and other games you might play, but I wouldn't go higher than these cards because at the next step up you can spend a lot more, but not get much more benefit.

i just did a 5700X3D vs 9800X3D comparison: ruclips.net/video/p2IAUxDGk0M/видео.html Basically, 5700X3D is best bang for the buck upgrade possible for AM4 users.
Do u have to Q flash update BIOS when getting the 9800X3D? Or does it boot up without and then u can update afterwards? Great vid! :)
you will need to update the bios if you are coming from ryzen 7000, if you buy the mainboard new, chances are good that you already get a updated bios. normaly there is a lable on the box for "ryzen9000 support" or "ryzen9000 ready"
@@georgwarhead2801 Ah ok i see. I am building a completely new pc and I got a X870E Pro Ice motherboard and the 9800X3D. So I was just wondering if I can build it and boot it up without having to Q-Flash it first. Thanks for the reply!
@@lawsious8288 well in that case you dont "need" to update the bios, but you absolutly should update it anyways if there are already updates avaible
@@georgwarhead2801 Okay great. I will definitely update the bios. Is it best to do it through the BIOS or is the Q-Flash method just as good?
@@lawsious8288 Do the update, they are 9000ready, but that doesnt neccessarily mean 9800X3D too, they need the latest AGESA and stuff, which might not be on your Board already
I bought a Ryzen 5 5600x some years ago I dont think id see a huge improvement if I move up to the 5700x also I mainly play Tarkov andy recommendations would be helpful for me jumping up cpu without changing the motherboard.

I recently upgraded to a RTX 4060 and found out it has only 8gb VRAM too late...

Current spec: MOBO - B450 Aorus M, CPU - Ryzen 5 2600, RAM - 2x8gb 2666MHz
Average FPS for customs and factory around 30-40fps was very tough to play, hoping to get 90-100fps
