we've been to London this year, we loved it..wonderful people, friendly and polite...Big Ben was much bigger than I thought..& the London bridge w/c I thought was London bridge wasn't London bridge, I was living a lie. 🤣..it was Tower bridge..maybe my only gripe was I didnt get to eat much English food, its mostly Middle Eastern and Asian cuisine you'd find, which were great, but of course you went to London for English food as well..I like Paddington the most it was really clean & pretty much look like how it does in the movies. And of course Buckingham Palace, lovely city.
I hope these places do a "senior citizen" discount! All transport zones 1-6 is free with my freedom pass; but for those coming from outside London only the busses are included. Thank you, Barbara Castle.
You can get brilliant views of the London skyline completely free of charge at the 'Garden at 120' Fenchchurch Street . I was there last week after visiting the Imperial War museum (again free) and just a few stops away on the tube (£2.80 for a single journey)
I have had a night in hostel in London (Elephant&Castle) for 14 pounds. Hostels in centres of Cardiff, Bath, Edinburgh, Glasgow for less than 20 pounds. UK is not very expensive, it is more expensive to eat than to sleep. Tiny hot dog on street is 3.5 pounds. Republic of Ireland is costlier than UK. Kebab in Galway 17 euros, same portion of kebab in for example Madrid, Spain 7 euros.
If I wasn't married with children i'd join you in India. Been watching your videos for years now. You're living the dream ! i'll just have to settle with visiting child friendly locations, one place at a time with the fam.
Been to the UK a number of times, but the cost of living there is a good reason why so many brits have fled to Portugal, Spain, Italy and much of SE Asia.
Great content as usual ! I can't resist trying to find out where you are and my suggestion is Uzbekistan. Probably the capital city, Tashkent. Not exactly "the other side of the world" coming from London, but far enough to be on another continent. There's a borderline European/ Russian / Turkish flair in the video which narrows down the range of options. It also indicates you're at a crossroad of these influences, and you've already been to Turkey recently, so i'm ruling that one out. I'm also ruling Russia out because it is complicated to travel there at the moment and weather would have already turned, so you'd be wearing a coat. You're wearing a corduroy shirt, which indicates a possible fluctuation in temperature between morning /afternoon, so i'm ruling out hotter climate destinations. The windows of the neighbouring building are typical of a country that's been under Russian - or rather soviet - influence , and the air con units are a telltale of true landlocked, continental weather with scorching hot summers, which is a feature of Uzbekistan. On the building behind you, there are double windows - another sign of protection, this time against very cold winters. I'm also thinking it would be cool to see content from that country which has a lot to offer (Samarkand , please !). Let me know if I'm close to the truth ! (NB : my second option would be Azerbaijan)
That breakfast menu blew my mind. London looks more expensive than the rest of Western Europe although the price of drinks seems relatively the same as France or Germany. I had hoped to spend Christmas in London but my tourist visa was denied and now I am scared to try again 😔
Jason, having watched all your videos for several years now my wife asked me where your videos are of your recent trip to Iraq? Is there some reason why you didn't post any of that trip.
Compared to how much it costs to run businesses in London, the costs for food and drink are reasonable. I've been living here for nearly 18 years, and you get used to it. Salaries are higher, so it compensates for costs. The unlimited travel in zones for a fixed price is a real winner, so it is tap-in using credit cards, so convenient compared to the crap system in other European cities. Battersea is a failure, not for the marvelous way they have renovated it and made a beautiful shopping centre. It's too far away from the centre of town and so the shops there will struggle, it's dead, and mostly used by posh dog walkers, people avoiding the weather, and the odd curious lost tourist.
I would be extremely anxious if my wife decides she wants to visit London for a shopping trip! London doesn't look like London used to, people wise! I wouldn't go there wearing a nice watch. A friend bought fish & chips peas in London & can, it cost £36.70 Also said they were horrid, nothing like battered fish from is home in Burnley.
@@freddythefrog70 1) The only reason to be anxious would be how much could be spent in a vast array of shop types and price levels 2) Glad to see you know diversity is a good thing 3) You can be robbed in your own home 4) He was scammed and should have been more careful.
@@kubricksmith Fish n chips are meant to be taken to a beach or park and eaten there. Trying to make something so cheap into a dining experience is a bit silly IMO.
@JC-lu4se Even takeaway Fish and Chips is about £14 in London. Cod is expensive these days. And if you don't like eating outside, why should you? Nothing to do with the value of the GBP.
Jason Billam, thanks for sharing your video about how expensive is London, UK 🇬🇧
Can't believe the prices wow being North of Manchester, Bolton I thought their prices were high but London is crazy

Im in London now and its not bad!
London IS really Bad and so expensive😂😂😂
When I left the UK in 2000, a 1-4 zone weekly travel card was £26.80. That translates to about five quid cheaper.
Great ❤❤

The cost of living has always been one of the major reasons for migration, along with escaping persecution and war and to experience new cultures

4 Pounds for a Cappuccino? Paris is definitely cheaper.
@@Alihan_1988it depends on where you go. There are a lot of places in Paris where a Cappuccino is £4-5
Crazy expensive 🤑

Accommodation is crazy in London. Quite hard to find smth cheaper than 200$ in central London with 8.0 rating
Hostel in Elephant&Castle 14 pounds.
I think the rail pass used to have a 3 day option. It's a shame it still doesn't. I don't care much for london pubs, I prefer country pubs.

Everything is so costly in London
More expensive than Dublin. Dublin is also very expensive.
£19 to go up a big chimney to see london lol that youve already seen before

Truth 💯💯💯💯💯
if you are visiting travelling to London - you must have plenty of money.😮
And i mean this as someone who lives here.😅
Hotel rooms is the most important cost for travel, but you did not mention that. Why not?
Pea and mint soup doesn’t sound good at all lol 🥴
Uzbekistan?
The real question is how dangerous is London?
Certain areas but not everywhere in London
