Open Space: Moneybagg Yo | Mass Appeal

Memphis rapper Moneybagg Yo has been bubbling since breaking out last year with Yo Gotti on '2 Federal' mixtape with bangers like "Doin 2 Much" and "Pull Up." Moneybagg has only gotten bigger in 2017. Yo Gotti's 25-year-old protégé recently inked a major distribution deal with Interscope. And after dropping his mixtape 'Heartless' in February, Moneybagg debuted on the Billboard 200 this week at No. 5 with his second tape this year, 'Federal 3X.'
"You know [Yo Gotti] labels himself as the king of Memphis and I came through with that new wave, that new sauce, and took over the city and tri-state areas," Moneybagg Yo told MASS APPEAL in the latest episode of 'Open Space.' "Gotti has always been my mentor."
Moneybagg stresses that it wasn't easy climbing to the top of Memphis' rap game. He recalled peers suggesting that he was wasting time with rap. "It shocked a lot of people," he said. "They didn't think I was going to be right here today."
"Do not chase the money, chase the dream," Moneybagg continues. "This one thing I just stuck with. It took me far, got me right here."
