I started a Red Dawn air layering in late may (first time attempt). And just when it's getting to the point where it needs cut and potted, you show up with a video on how to do that! That's some awesome intuition you got there! 👍

Thank you Peter, spagnum moss has been a savior, my dwarf rotos are all coming back and they died to bare wood, thank you thank you, love my trees. Just removed my first wires and it was too late, keep a close watch, it was sad to see some branches so deeply cut but they will heal, just give them love.

How many months do I need to keep the cutting under two inches water? 2. As the fall and winter is coming here, do I need any extra steps to keep it alive. Would appreciate if you could guide me.
I have just come in from the garden after checking the roots on my own maple air layer that I started in early June after watching one of Peter's videos. The longest roots are about an inch long so I have wraped it up again and will check again in a couple of months...

The roots are very long and healthy. I think using hormone rooting powder and fertiliser may have helped. I have detached and potted the new tree in a mix of sphagnum moss and akadama.
@@peterchan3100 It's doing great now - 42" high and covered in foliage. It looks so strong and green and healthy. The birds keep stealing the sphagnum moss to build their nests. I will just let it grow out and establish strong roots this year. I might cut it back next year. I am just enjoying my success at the moment. It is reassuring to see predictable growth and vitality during this uncertain and troubled time. Thanks for the videos - I find them inspirational and encouraging.

Thank you for the advice. I started an air layer late June and early July and after six weeks I did not see any roots yet. I will continue and just be patient and let them go until next year.
There's an old twisted ornamental cherry tree in my dad's back yard that I may air layer. It's beautiful, but he was always disappointed that it didn't produce any fruit. Thanks for the tips!

At what point do you move the air layerings from the moss to a pot of soil I have three months before cold weather I will put these in the green house until then winter temp in my green house is cool but not cold . These are my successful first powder puff tree Air layerings.

I have a question regarding your sphagnum moss trick for sick trees. Would you use sphagnum moss on a sick Japanese White Pine that likes being, "Dry as a wilted weed?" Or would the moss keep a white pine too wet?

Dear Mr chan I m a big fan of your wonderful work. I see lots of videos of junipers and many other trees. No one has made a video of very fast growing wisteria. My neighbour kindly asked me to remove a very very old over 90 years old .I did with a great difficulty. Back in May 2019 planted in a large plastic container. And grew very strong . More I prune faster it grows. Any tips?
Keep the tendrils pruned to 4 or 6 buds - this will keep it in check and encourage flowering. I have many Wisterias as garden trees and they are just rampant.
Hello everyone, if i make an air layering now in September, can i leave it for spring in Sweden or will the roots die on the tree when 2-3 months of winter frost come?

Early spring is best but you can also do this into the summer.

Thuja is easy to air layer but not. much used for bonsai. Use the ones that have tight foliage - drooping foliage not good

Saving plastic is saving earth for sure. But importing from New Zealand has a huge impact. Is there a substitute to spagma moss?
