Great review, I have owned a SimpliSafe system since 2009. Last year I completely upgraded to their latest/newest system. The key pad is needed to do the software updates, you can't update with just the phone. As far as the command strips, they work, I have not had one sensor fall off since 2009. I appreciate the camera closed shutter when off.
Yeah I think redundancy of the physical keypad is ideal because what if your phone isn’t handy for any reason or you’ve given someone a keypad code who doesn’t have app access. He could have been a bit more thoughtful as to why a physical keypad is necessary - was a little too preoccupied with his own experience rather than what others could find value in as well (not trying to knock the video creator, just honestly some constructive feedback)
I have a first gen SimpliSafe system and I can say that if the Command strips they are using now are anything like those that came with my system years ago, your control panel isn't going anywhere. Pretty sure your paint would release from the wall before the adhesive does.
Happened to me the sensor fell off the wall with command strips and triggered alarm to go off. Police came to my house very quickly was a very scared experience, but when I got off work, I just stick some gorilla tape to the back of it never fell down again.
Have original system operating 7yrs. The tape sticks! (I prepped w alcohol) one false alarm in 7 yrs- the system just works. Even with sensors on shop doors fairly far from house. Fist gen keypad sucks tho.
The reason you don't want it to be a touch screen and the reason the way it is because touch screens can sometimes not work as intended and when your app starts getting stupid a normal button is better
My guess is reason for the keypad is in case the almighty phone is dead. As far as motion sensor falling off wall and setting it off, that wont happen because it detects body heat motion, not actual "motion."
Can't change notification sound in IOS! Deal breaker for us. (and NOBODY ever mentions this in their reviews online). I won't wake up with Apple's simple, one-note notification sound. Sorry SS..I'm moving on.

Sounds exactly like the strips on the system I installed 6 months ago. I have no worries about them failing whatsoever.
Just watch your video. We just ordered the set for our home. Thanks, Brenda

Have you tested the SimpliSafe outdoor camera?

Keypad is a great tool for people who don’t know or want to use an app.

You can change your app notifications in apple settings, saw your post on several videos.
Can SimpliSafe be hacked into?
