    I have seen so many people comment about the frequency this security system operates on and that it can be scrambled! Will someone find me the device that'll do this and i'll create a video about it and we'll see if it actually works by cancelling out the SimpliSafe alarm! I'll make a video on it too! :)

      I believe generation 3 of the system (which I believe this is) does not have the hack because it now has encryption between all the wireless parts, previous 2 gens did not. I am researching the system to buy and this was a real concern for me. Before if you disarmed on the keypad it sent a signal to the base stations totally unencrypted apparently and someone could replay attack it with a device. It wasn't an easy hack to do because you had to be near to the device and know where they were in the house. Anyway all signals are encrypted from gen3. Becareful putting out the yard sign or a sticker to the brand if you have gen1 or gen 2 though!

      @@danieljuk the encryption doesn't matter...it has to do with the 433.92MHz (at least in the US) being low emitted signal which can be interfered either causing the base station to believe and report it as RF interference or not at all.

    We ended up exchanging this model for the slimmer version ruclips.net/user/postUgkx0jZ_lGlDVJhDnmagEU8gn47cmfPNlLQU because it was too wide for the only door trim area that made sense to mount it on. However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

    Great video. Just one point. The motion sensors will have to be set up differently on your walls if you have pets. I was told by simplisafe support that as I have a 26kg dog and 2 4kg cats that the sensors should be placed at shoulder level on the wall and upside down so the sensors don't scan the floor area. Just be aware of this. 😃

    Here is a tip about SimpliSafe Motion Sensors. it takes a few minutes after you set your alarm for the sensors to adjust to the room. If you are testing your system take that into consideration. While testing my system I set the alarm and came into the room immediately and often the motion sensors did not detect me right away. If I waited a few minutes before I entered the room, they got me every time.

    Great video! 💪🏼
    I'd just say that the motion sensors are too high up, (they should be in corners, yeah, field of view is 90°), but they need to be within 4-5ft off the ground, they'll catch body heat in a 45° angle (from where it is mounted and down). And if you've dogs that'd stay inside your home when you arm the system in away mode, better install them upside down (with the test button facing the ground, so the angle would be 45 up) so your pet won't trip the alarm.
    Great work with the video 👌🏼👌🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Not to mention the video camera and "Beware of the Dog" signs. It's pretty nuts at this point. And to top it all off: I really don't have anything to steal unless they want a 20 year old weight machine and ancient TV from the age of Dinosaurs. I don't even own a laptop!

      You don't have to pay subscription for this service. But you obviously lose some quirks if you dont. I pay £19.99 a month for everything. Remote view your camera, set and disarm alarm remotely through the app and other benefits.

      @@GeekyStuff it gives you an option of 12.99 . I might get this looks really good and effective but the only problem I have with it is when the alarm goes off the hub should be outside not inside your home . How would this possibly alert other ppl.

      @@islamicreminders3090 People don't tend to come running at the sound of a house alarm, unless you live in Gotham and Batman is having a quiet night.. the idea is the internal alarm is uncomfortable to stay close by and puts any intruder off after entering

    I've never seen this advance security system. I like it. My concern is those adhesive strip. Can they hold on for a long time?

      I’ve been using SimpliSafe since they first came out in 2008. Strips work amazingly well and do indeed last. Sensors, including keypad, are very lightweight.

    Great video, does the base announce which door or window is triggered? I.e ‘’fault back door’’, or ‘’fault motion sensor living room’’ .....

      No, but the app tells you which motion sensor was triggered.

    If you have pets please read the installation manual for the correct height to place the sensor. If you have a dog over 30lbs place the sensor 4ft. up from the floor with the test button side down and if you have a cat, 6 - 10 ft. up from the floor.

    Hope they fixed that issue, the one where if you buy a hand held radio and set it to the same frequency it uses, it disables the whole thing, while broadcasting.

  • @richcampoverde
    @richcampoverde 4 года назад

    This alarm operates with in the amature radio frequency. All you need is a 30 quid tranciver programed to 433.92mhz and the 8 watt transmition will drown out the milliwatt output from the sensors thus rendering the alarm usless. And the stickers you get as with any alarm system the best place for them is a fire you might as well put your passcode on your door

    • @GeekyStuff
      @GeekyStuff  4 года назад +1

      Link me up with the transceiver you think will do this and i'll buy it and test it on my SimpliSafe system. I'll make a video about it too! :)

    Hey Geeky Stuff, loved your video. Would be great if you or others could reply to some of the great questions below. For example, does it say “back window left open” if you set the alarm. Another example, will the alarm go off and says “intrudeter detected, front door sensor”... and finally, does it have a battery feature on the dashboard to tell you how good or bad the batteries. Are. Oh and one more thing - is there an app? I used to have something called Alertme system 10 years ago which did all of this - until HIVE bought them out and destroyed them.

    • @GeekyStuff
      @GeekyStuff  4 года назад

      Yes, if a door or window is left open and you arm the alarm, the base station will warn you. When an alarm is triggered, you can see in the app which sensor was triggered. The base station does indicate when battery is low on devices, but obviously I've not had that happen yet.
