He's mentioned in other videos that he not only wears squat shoes (which have a heel) but he also adds a wedge insert for even more height. Not saying he's got bad ankle mobility, but it's not as unachievable as you might think.
I had to pause the video from laughing so hard when he was explaining why he wasn’t hitting failure, and then was like, “don’t ever come in to my effin gym again and insult me” 😂😂😂😂😂😂 More of these 2 guys please!
Oh man, I need so much more of this collab! I got into weightlifting because of both of you. I started watching for the entertainment and comedy and stayed for the information.
I am shamelessly addicted to RP leg day videos. Adapting what I learn from them into my own workouts is super rewarding and really motivating. Seeing what level of intensity and technique is possible definitely recalibrates how you approach an exercise to get the most out of it
Will is a great guy. Genuine, compassionate, knowledgeable and his faces he makes when you can tell he is working hard are great. A wonderful health and fitness inspiration for all of us.
Im a newbie to the gym and i just finished my first week using your way of training (fast concentric, very slow eccentric, eccentric stretches and full rom) and it worked so well. It burns like hell and feels like glory after. I wanted to initially get into powerlifting of some sorts because numbers are impressive but i love how you can literally feel your body progress each time you get sore, it makes me want to work towards the burn
You're so lucky you stumbled upon this channel on the early stage of your training path. Following Dr. Mike's tips will save you a huge amount of time. BTW let us know how it goes now 4 months later 😌😌
This was everything I could have hoped for! Will was my introduction to the fitness influencer world and Mike has been key in allowing my to grow my knowledge base!
My go to sunday routine is watch new RP videos, then watch Will's. A perfect continuum and now they are in a same video whaaaaat!?! Absolute dream collab for sure!
I crawled back under the warm blanket this morning instead of getting my leg day in. Now I'm motivated. Let's GO Thanks, Will! Thanks, Dr. Mike! Love you both
Ayyy This was a phenomenal surprise. Absolutely love Will's channel and Dr. Mike (RP). Long time sub of both. Also today is the four year anniversary since I gave up drinking (the day after my deceased father's birthday as well). I found Will's channel and found the heart behind my fitness goals, then discovered Dr. Mike and sharpened the mind. Thank you both for literally everything you do for the fitness community. Much love 🙏💯💜
1:58 Dr. Mike always catches me off guard with his amazing comic timing! Dr. Mike humor never ceases to amaze me! Really appreciate his amusing and extremely entertaining personality. His persona is quite delightful. It’s simply incredible. Really loved the video and collaboration. That was an intense workout. Huge props to both of you. The advice on stretch mediated hypertrophy and not going overboard with the exercise selection but focusing on appropriate effort, proper execution of the movement and high quality work in general is what matters the most instead and produces amazing results while minimises overall fatigue. Phenomenal work! Thank you. 🙏💪👍
Jokes aside from this amazing (and somehow wholesome) collab, it's quite awesome seeing and having the feeling that Mike really respects and admires Will on what he does. Truly a pair of beasts.
My boyfriend woke me up and made me crawl out of bed to watch this and it absolutely doesn't disappoint! Very entertaining! Love the energy and play between the two of you! Time to scuttle over and see the other side and see different jokes!
Willy T is the only "trendy" fitness influencer I follow. He doesn't shill snake oil and he always manages to inject valuable information into his fun videos. Great collab and you guys hit it off super well.
One of the most important thing that I’ve learned from Dr. Mike is to be intensely focused during each set and putting your best effort to make each and every single repetition count and make it as high quality as possible that is full ROM, slow-controlled eccentrics and pauses in the deep stretched position and using super efficient technique and eliminating unnecessary or excessive momentum and training like if we’re inside the muscle that we’re working to improve the mind muscle connection immensely and getting really great pumps. The high quality work is what matters and it’s certainly essential. It improves the efficiency by a huge margin. Thanks for educating me on the importance of quality work. Highly appreciate that. I’m deeply grateful and indebted to you forever for being such an important part in my lifting journey. Following you religiously was one of the best decision that I’ve made. Your training methods, philosophy and approach helped me a ton! You taught me that progressive overload can come in many ways and it’s not always in terms of weight and/or reps. It can be improving technique and efficiency too! Outstanding work! This channel is truly a masterpiece. 🙏💪👍
It’s about time! We knew Will was watching RP videos based on the knowledge he was sharing in his last videos. Now our favorite fitness RUclipsrs worlds collide!!
Bro Dr. Mike is SO on it with the "feel set" I do that every single time I switch and prep for a new exercise. One light set with minimal weight, or just body weight, so my brain can get ready for the new movement.
In case you were wondering, the shirts are made by the brand Actizio, and they have several "sweat-activated" designs. One of my favorites appears as a gray blank when dry, but becomes "You Can Go Home Now" once drenched in sweat from lifting or cardio.
Dr. Mike has serious talent. Apart from being an absolute tank of knowledge about the fitness industry, he has got a hell lot of humor. Kevin Hart, watch out, Dr. Mike is coming!!😂
Hey mike i always do leg press all the way down like you do and i must say its amazing and also literally no one else in my gym does it like that. Also i always used to have garbage mobility and i always used squat shoes but now i dont even need them i can literally go all the way down with my feet all the way on the bottom without coming off barefoot so i kinda feel gangster about that too
Using an extra thigh pad on prone hamstring curls makes such a huge difference. I'm a taller guy and had never been able to get a full stretch on the machine at my gym. Been using a couple extra pads for the last few months and get such a better stretch. Weirdly enough, it made the movement simultaneously harder at the bottom and easier at the top, so much so that I was able to increase the weight by a significant amount and progress really quickly. I think it put my hamstrings in a better position to exert force, and I think I was getting more active insufficiency than peak contraction at the top in the past.
On Will being surprised at you finishing the set before failure because of pain, one thing you will notice about more effective training that has higher hypertrophy effect to fatigue ratio is that you'll often fail because it becomes painful, not because of a metabolically induced failure. I've notice this in my own training, slow stretched eccentrics really are king and "failure is failure" is a really wrong way of thinking about training, there are different reasons to fail, pain being superior to fatigue for growth.
My personal experience is that it depends on the muscle group. I _cannot_ do calves to failure because they burn too much, but I can do lateral raises until my shoulders are too weak to lift up my arms.
@@smelmaofc, very hard to get a stretch in the lateral raise, unless you do an across the body form, for that reason, most lateral raises are done from neutral to contracted state with little stretch beyond neutral, so not much way to circumvent the fatigue that exists as apart of "normal" ranges of motion.
I’m glad they briefly discussed why Mike went to like 2 RIR while Will went to failure. In the other videos I was confused because I knew Mike prescribed RIR 3 the first week of a mesocycle and decreasing by 1 RIR each week, but then all the workout guests were always coached to failure. Maybe Mike treats these as if the guests are at the end of a mesocycle?
This was a great collaboration. Will was visually humbled being in your presence. Chemistry is great. Will is a beast for a natural! Dr mike is always great. Laughing still at the built like a fridge comment lol
The humor and collab between Dr Mike and Will is what we needed!
Lol I also commented the same thing on both videos
No, Will is annoying.
@@hugostiglitz5798amazes me how he's famous/popular.

I’ve dreamt of this moment 😁👍
Glad to see a Father and Son get such a great workout in!
Amount of sexual tension between father and son is quite disturbing though lol
Did coach greg disown Will?
@@Marky_Mark__ No, Greg married Dr. Mike.
More like daddy and boy
It’s “daddy”
Mike: What happened to your knees?
Will: Alot of time on them.
I'm dead.
That one and several other jokes took me like 2 good seconds before I realized and then I laughed even harder xD
This was a good one 😂
Mike’s ankle mobility is really so impressive. Truly proof that just because you’re big doesn’t automatically mean inflexible.
He has cheat shoes on sir
Ankle mobility is probably the only thing left mobile though
He's mentioned in other videos that he not only wears squat shoes (which have a heel) but he also adds a wedge insert for even more height. Not saying he's got bad ankle mobility, but it's not as unachievable as you might think.
he literally cant ohp because he got too big
being big doesn't affect ankle mobility... it does affect other parts tho
I had to pause the video from laughing so hard when he was explaining why he wasn’t hitting failure, and then was like, “don’t ever come in to my effin gym again and insult me” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
More of these 2 guys please!
That was the funniest shit ever LMFAO
Damn I thought he was serious.
I love the opening framing of Will dying from exhaustion while Dr. Mike sits on his throne
Looks like x men...
I just _love_ when a trainer says "two more" and then says it again after I do two reps.
“Don’t ever come to my gym and fucking insult me” 😂😂😂😂😂
Oh man, I need so much more of this collab! I got into weightlifting because of both of you. I started watching for the entertainment and comedy and stayed for the information.
For me it was the other way around, came for the information and stayed for the entertainment and comedy... and information.
i watched this because i wanted to hear will moaning
"The shirt's gotta get wet"
"Oh I will, don't you worry about that. "
This is going exactly as I thought it would 😂
Sometimes things start as a pain in the butt but get quite nice later. 😂😂😂
I am shamelessly addicted to RP leg day videos. Adapting what I learn from them into my own workouts is super rewarding and really motivating. Seeing what level of intensity and technique is possible definitely recalibrates how you approach an exercise to get the most out of it
legs are so deceiving. if you think you can only do 5 reps on something, you can probably do 25

Mike: “you know…” (giggles)

This is the collab we all wanted to see! thanks Mike for these golden vids.
17:41 a frame to remember.
One of my favorite videos you’ve done. Definitely need more Will and Mike collabs.
So funny how Will calls Mike's semi-ironic homoerotic bluffs to a point where Mike himself gets slightly embarrassed
Gotta love the dynamic of Dr Mike and Will! Some of the most entertaining content ive seen in a long while!!!! Love what you guys do!!!
Watched it on Will's channel then came straight here to watch all over again. Loving the collab, more please
It makes me feel good when the fitness channels I watch come together. It makes me feel like I’m watching the right content
Love this. Been watching Will since the Ollie days. Just started watching Dr. Mike. This is a match made in heavy. Loved both videos.
Will was so quiet and tame in this one. Glad this collab happened. Dope video
I crawled back under the warm blanket this morning instead of getting my leg day in. Now I'm motivated. Let's GO
Thanks, Will! Thanks, Dr. Mike! Love you both

two of my favorite channels collaborating. what a great day.
The collaboration I’ve been waiting for!
Dr Mike has to be the most hilarious intellect out there. oh, and his delivery, top notch
haha
I think this a great partnership, loved it
Finally two channels that I watch the most for fitness in one video. Great to see both of you doing legs
Mike and Will is like the perfect combo there is to ever exist and im here for it!!!
I already anticipated that these two will have great chemistry together because both of them have this stupid sense of humor that everyone loves lol
It's amazing to see my two favorite people working out together. It's also amazing to hear such epic music while they train. It makes it so intense.

Yess! The collab we wanted and needed is finally here!
Watching both versions of the videos because I love both of these guys.
I'm in love with Will's low key mellow energy. Combined with a great sense of humour made for a great training partner for Dr Mike!
incredible, this shows me exactly what I need to take my leg days to the next level (short bald muscle man sitting in chair watching and commanding)

You guys are a legendary duo. Please please please do more colabs! You energy is perfect!
I thought I was like the only one that did a feel set for most exercises 😅 it’s reassuring when Dr Mike does them too.
Same here ! It helps a lot with priming my technique for working sets
Love this collab! Chemistry was great! We need to see Eric Bugenhagen collab next please
I need more Dr. Mike like this! Well really i just need more Dr. Mike in my life
What a fun collaboration. Already subscribed to both. Hat's off, Dr Mike and Will Tennyson.

Dr. Mike will take on his hardest challenge. Making Will's calves grow.
"I'm like a stress ball, just come"
