I saw this at Hobby Lobby a couple weeks ago and said yes I need that! It is a nice mat. Great for modeling and my electronics (guitar effects pedals)!
Nice find Paul (subscribed) HEY! @hobbylobby #hobbylobby I am going to buy two of these things tomorrow because of THIS video! Two things, they need to sponsor your channel and they need to pay who ever came up with thing a nice bonus. I am going to pick up two of them tomorrow! I sometimes work in a small, shared space remotely (from my main shop) and something like this is perfect. Thank you for the unbox and review.
Thanks for the head’s up! As with most product when I’m first introduced to them, I hopped on Amazon to see if it was offered, and how much it was. Amazon does offer it, but it’s $4 more. Now I do shop at Hobby Lobby, but I like to compare prices. I really appreciate you telling everyone about this product. Thanks for sharing!
I was at Hobby Lobby today and was tempted to get one but didn't. After seeing this I will grab one next time I'm there! Would be great for cleaning the airbrush too.
Nice piece of kit. I wish I had one when I was still building. Now building COBI models as the fingers and hands don't work like they used to. All the best to you all and enjoy your building.
👍😎 thanks for sharing. RUclips suggested this video 👍🏁 I build 1/24 model cars, ho model buildings, work on ho slot cars, ho trains an customize 1/64 diecast cars. 🤔 This looks very interesting that i may have to invest in one 😮👍
Paul thank you for your service to this great country. I was in the Marine Corps. I went to Okinawa Japan and got to see the Air force in action. Thanks for the demonstration appreciate that. Take care
I just grabbed one yesterday, never saw it at hoblob before. Also grabbed a couple of crazy 1:64 displays that hold a die cast between two stretchy clear sheets of film in a square frame.
If you look for "silicone mat electronics" you will find a large range, with a large variety of layouts, usually in a more rest-full blue. Silicone mats are also heat resistant for those who solder.
Hello Paul..my wife Tracy and me Dave..just saw this video on our feed....Wife does all sorts if crafts house deco ect..I am getting back into model building after a very long pause..we both loved this review of this mat and we are goin to town tomorrow to get us a couple of these..we love your enthusiasm..wich is why you have a new couple of subscribers from New Mexico!! Goin to check the older vids and look forward to the new!!
These things are good for all sorts of things, and have been around for years. Good value for a tenner. Unfortunately, they do not stop very small pieces pinging off into a wormhole when being released from their sprues.
unfortunately, the closest Hobby Lobby is several miles away against afternoon traffic so I waited until Saturday to go. Not only could I not find it, but when I checked online, it is now "sold out" I guess everyone heard you and beat me to it 🙂
These must be a new item cause I'm in Hobby Lobby quite often and I've not seen it yet. Could depend on what part of the U.S. 🇺🇲 I'm in as to how soon I see it here. Thanks for the heads up Paul. I'll be looking for it.👀
They are cool mats I have one in blue. Tiny parts do not run away.. I like mine very much too. I also do not like cutting on my 'LOL cutting mats.. These mats are for electrical work, but can be used for anything... Glad you enjoy it so much'...
I went to 2 hobby lobby's in my area and they had no idea what it was. I even showed them the video and got no where. Do you know where I can buy this thing ?
It's a great mat, but I'm not sure I like the big raised square in the middle of the mat like that. I'd think you'd want it flat. Does that seem like it'll be an issue? For $10 I may just check it out anyway...
@@pauly7218 I would like to shop on line just one thing, I don't trust it in fear of getting my identity stolen, I would rather deal with a good old fashioned 'Brick and Mortar' store at least you get to see the products up close, And, thank you very much for answering my comment.
Joe. Please bear with me. I just dumped a bunch of $ into upgrades and found some serious setting issues. Video I already have uploaded may still have issues (about 10 or so) but videos going forward will be so much better! Thanks

Very useful and very cool! Thanks for sharing.

Its a lot like the ones made for mechanics....of which I'm one.... So yeah I need it 😆... My inner sponge bob wants it now!

Brilliant thought! I'm now gonna need another one for the bottom of my spray booth
I like it! I haven't seen you this excited since discovering hot swap bearings ... LOL!
Me neither!
you're like an excited little kid at x-mas time. . . love it!
Thanks. Heading to hobby lobby asap!

As long as you still have fun!
I saw that in Hobby Lobby, now I have to go back and pick one up.
good luck. I just went today and couldn't find any. looked online and they're "sold out" 😒
It's the little things, I never seen a guy get so excited over rubber lol I'm gettin that mat , thanks for the video buddy
That's me in a nutshell
Very nice addition to the bench. I have to get one. Thanks for sharing.

Paul. Just found your channel. I agree that's a really cool mat. I have to get one of those too! Thanks for sharing!
Hello there Paul that's a great find looks very useful anyway all the best from here in the UK and happy modeling everyone 👍
You can put a standard cutting mat in the center for using knives. A razor blade will go straight thru it. I have one in mine and it fits perfectly.
Great idea. Gonna try it for sure!
Paul thank you for your service to this great country. I was in the Marine Corps. I went to Okinawa Japan and got to see the Air force in action. Thanks for the demonstration appreciate that. Take care
Thank you too!
Just bought one two days ago at Hobby Lobby. It's great.
I now have three!!! LOL
I’ve had a couple of soldering Mats before. Very handy in keeping build on track.👍👍
I just grabbed one yesterday, never saw it at hoblob before. Also grabbed a couple of crazy 1:64 displays that hold a die cast between two stretchy clear sheets of film in a square frame.
Thanks for showing this to everyone! I just went to Amazon and ordered one!
Thanks for the video and heads up on this unique product.
Very cool Paul ❤😎 and what Ron said @SoMoDiecast and have a great weekend 🍻🍻🇦🇺🤝🇺🇲🦘🦘🏔🏔🌨🌨
Great hobby room!
I bought a couple one for me and one for my brother. We love them
Paul, I love your enthusiasm bud,
Rebadged, remarketed electronics silicon soldering mat - they've been around for decades - make sure you don't pay a 'model' premium for one...
$9.99. I think that's super fair.
on the contrary, the soldering / electronic versions (original) are twice the price.
I was going to say the electronic versions seem to be much higher. The exact same one for electronics is 18.99 online.
…………and in bilious yellow. What’s not to like?

Welcome Tracy and Dave! Glad you found me. I hope you love the mats too!!!!
That is pretty cool indeed. 😎👍
Very cool
Great Title - Great Thumbnail. This is you activating your potential energy Paul!!!
I appreciate that!
Looks awesome!!!
On aAmazon most are electronics work mats, come in different sizes and colors, some with tools. My favorite is bright yellow
I bought one last week. Its great😎
I bought two more!
Look's good, may order myself one for $10 can't beat it - a protect mat for your protect mat......
Too cool this would work so cool for G I joe customizes 😮
It would be perfect if it had a center section you could actually cut on without risking the silicone.
My neighbor, Mathew, builds models
We call him -
Model Mat
any relation? Scale Rail Ray here, signing off. Thanks for the video!

The Carpet Monster is real! LMAO!!!
The mat is designed for soldering , good up to 900° F , but like you I'm getting one for my modeling
Thanks. No I need another one! LOL

My store got a re-stock so keep an eye out!
Good review Paul. ✌️

Good to know!
Came by your channel by accident buying 2 of that Big orange thing and a subscriber
Welcome! Glad to have you. What are your main hobby interests?
Hey Paul nice video - ive mixed XF-4 and XF-5 to get zinc for the interior of P-51D, unsure whether it’s accurate, up to interpretation, cheers Liam
Looks like a great item for your next giveaway.
I like it and I want get one too
👌😉👍!.
Very nice thing 💪👍👍👍🤗
I've similar mats made by Weller on electric repair videos.
Looks interesting! My only comment would be that it looks a little small!
Yes and no. It sure could be bigger, but with one model under it's belt it didn't feel too confining....
Nice!!
buying one lol
I went to 2 hobby lobby's in my area and they had no idea what it was. I even showed them the video and got no where. Do you know where I can buy this thing ?
The are out of stock in a lot of places, but they are in the model section with the tool and XActo stuff. Online is out of them right now.

Honestly, it is a good thing. It helps me pick stuff up like a tooth pick, that might otherwise be a fight.
on my way to hobby Lobby, thanks
Kinda like a pinning mat for locksport.
It would probably work great for that!!!
Hi Paul, Matt here from Bullhead City AZ ,about 90 miles south of you. Did you go to the Best of The West at the Orleans hotel and casino?
Sadly no. I had family commitments....
Sold out as of now.
Too bad we don't have a 'Hobby Lobby' here where i live in N.Y.C. its tough being a modeler in this town.
I bought two more online! They are cheap enough it is worth it!

Interesting, but it wold have been better if you kept the camera focused.

Jewelers Use them for YEARS I have 3 I use when building Watches
😲🔥🔥🔥👍😎
Could you experiment with audio and not use the ducking on and off feature? Just a thought.
I will look at it. I think it is the sound gate acting up. Stay tuned and let me know if it gets better
@@pauly7218yeah, the gate is very distracting.
what section of the store was it in?
Modeling supplies....
Change your shorts! already LMFAO
This is a soldering mat
New subscriber here nice channel nice video. I'm gana go grab me one of them mats
Welcome! My suggestion, at $10 each, buy 2!!! Glad to have you on board!
Testors paint? Really?
Nothing wrong with testors
I only have a couple jars for specific colors
It's a solder mat
You picked the wrong Chromate paint. Tamiya, Mr. Hobby, MIG, AK, etc........ Testors is not a good choice.
Not my first choice, but it did the job. I for one am a big Tamiya fan....
