Brandy is like “2000s teens Hollister” just for 2010s teens
But even worse because they only had one size...
But worse cause they were extremely fatphobic
So another Abercrombie & Fitch got it.
Brandy is like “2000s teens Hollister” just for 2010s teens
No, A&F’s stuff lasts. My son still has some hoodies & tees.
@@samanthab1923 I'm talking about the documentary about the company. Abercrombie & Fitch has a similar one on Netflix.
@@caitlingill I'm talking about the company Abercrombie & Fitch has a similar documentary on Netflix.
Yup, we always had these garbage stores. They never got my money.
This feels like Groundhog Day! How often are we going to hear the same story, over and over again, until people learn!?
Can’t agree more! I remember having an issues with BM when they first came out. I was a teenager back then. I think it’s arrogant to only sell one size for girls and creating body anxiety. Interestingly, I seem to be numbed by this now, because despite everyone has been talking about fashion inclusivity, sustainability and how bad fast fashion is to the planet, it hasn’t change that much since then. Tbh, I think the situation is even worst on all those three topics.
Humans NEVER learn. 😔
If they learn what are the people with good sense going to watch ?
@@Expatlife4 Lately I've been wishing I were a robot! 😂😂😂
💯 It's one of the most American stories I've ever heard. So every few years same old same old..
It’s actually a great documentary for the sole purpose of it shows where “donated” and thrown away clothing ends up in Ghana. It’s heartbreaking.
The reason why this story is so repetitive (per a lot of comments posted) is because we don’t demand with our dollar for better quality, sustainable garments. The fashion industry as a whole is “fast” - even the top luxury brands move trendy items out. It’s a business built on capitalism, not sustainability.
No ... the reason is women don't care
When is the Shein documentary
there’s a great one on all 4
@@pinkapoppywhat's it called
Hopefully right before the Temu one.
It felt genuine bc it WAS genuine, lol. Ok.
This line sent me to the galaxy lmfoa
To be fair it actually was, at least at some point. The main photographer for their instagram from 2014-2017 was a highschooler
They seem to only sell basics.... like just plain tanks and skirts, shorts, etc. I don't see what the obsession was
Because they’re cute and not bombarded with pride propaganda made specifically for a type. Not everything is for everyone and that makes their customers happy. There’s nothing wrong with that.
@@Seventizz wow how do u bring in politics into this. U ppl are obsessed 😂
@@random95725 Because the documentary doesn't exists to do just that?
@@Khous-yg1ur Upscale clothing brands exist. How is that a problem?
@@Seventizz
It's not a problem. However, when its all the same thing you can get at Target, Kohls, Walmart, or Old Navy, and they tripled or quadrupled the price, then that's ridiculous.
i was so excited for this doc but now not so much it seems quite repetitive. we see this in fashion everywhere
It’s actually a great documentary for the sole purpose of seeing where “donated” and thrown away clothing ends up in Ghana. It’s heartbreaking.
I'm so out of touch. My dumb self thought the lady from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills owned this company (Brandy Glanville).
Umm so did I! 😂
😮
Me too! 😂
You’re not the only one lol
Me too!!! I was so confused 😂
I’m not a petite, skinny white girl - so Brandy Melville never appealed to me at all. Never got into it.
okay?
As a member of Gen Z, I never bought from Brandy Melville. Never really cared about it honestly. I think a lot of stuff that gets social media hype doesn't always touch the normal person.
Do Lululemon next. 💅
😂
Never heard of it. Glad I’m old
There have always been fast fashion brands regardless of age. This is just one of them that’s a pretty bad offender.
Same here. 😊
Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch of our time.
How old are you? I’m 32 and I used to wear it many years ago… obviously can’t fit into it now. But u probably did hear of it a decade ago
@amydearing9866 _ I'm young and I've never heard of it. I asked at least 6 people and they've never heard of it either.
They're trying to make "fetch" happen 🤣😅🤣
I walked into their Santa Monica store in my early 20s. Saw a huge line in front of their store in Toronto last month.
American Apparel did the same
This! Yes they did! I was obsessed with AA as a teen because they were the IT store for ~hipsters~ and I had a colostomy bag that I wanted to hide, so their skirts and dresses were perfect for that purpose. I don’t think I EVER met an employee that didn’t make me feel like I was putting them out for existing because I wasn’t “cool” enough, or didn’t harbor enough angst. Wasn’t sad to see them go.
I did a speech in 8th grade about the problems with Brandy Melville
Good for you! Do you want a gold star?
Ignore the haters! Good for you...to have seen and called out the monster in 8th grade!!!
Never lose your voice... 💪🗣
this was the supreme for girls
No, only mean white girls
I’m a size medium and once I walked into the store and I felt so judged 😭 never came back
I went to the Brandy Melville store over in Chicago (this was my first time ever) and honestly, I felt so out of place being a POC girl 😂 as if I wasn’t meant to be there. It’s more of a me problem though, my insecurities skyrocketed.
ok that sounds like a you problem
@@InfestedLiceNot a 'you' problem! Racism, Misogyny, elitism... a SOCIETAL PROBLEM.
Dangerous messages to youth about their worth and place in this world can be deadly. Hope you know your worth these days!
I just ordered everything they had online, even the clothes that won't fit. Amazing, Doc!! But I'm NOT shopping at Zara ever again!!
And there are still people lined up outside its stores 🙄
I have never heard of this brand. The clothes look plain and like everything you could get at Walmart or Target.
Because you’re a land whale
Where can I watch in the uk
I think their are some worse brands out there like SHEIN temu and stuff but this doesn’t mean it’s not terrible
All of their clothes look like they come from the free sewing patterns they have online 😂
This is such a weird topic and tone for this discussion like...Brandy Melville is not the first to be size exclusive and push a body image "ideal" within their brand. They are not special for being part of fast fashion or for taking advantage of employees. Out of every exploitative brand I just feel like it's weird to focus on Brandy as some evil cult company when you have Shein, Temu, old Abercrombie, and hosts of other brands doing the same thing.
And Forever 21
This is Abercrombie and Fitch repackaged
Hit Piece Swings…
…Hit Piece Misses
I went into one store, one time, I couldn't tell if the clothes were for teens or little kids cuz they were so tiny!
They fit my 68 year old mother
It’s for skinny girls
Never heard of Brandy Melville before this and not impressed after seeing it
Hey is that that lady from quiet on set?
My thoughts exactly lol and yes it is!
YES
This is what reality means and to be your own person to many people wanna have Instagram fake lives and are surprised when it doesn't turn out that picture way!
I have never heard of this company or brand. I was obviously not the target buyer of this brand. Reminds me of AE (American Eagle) back in the day.
I’m more curious about the John Galt T-shirts and the Olive Oil they sell
Ok I get the problem with the company being racist but come on parents, the whole thing with body image starts at home. Raised two girls and I was very much aware of my role as a parent on this.
Why are all the clips of the “Brandy girls” from like 2014-2016?
Eeekkkk so many teen brands are like this 😢but they continue to buy from them . Usually in thrift stores on online second hand though ….. crazy fashion clothes world . What if everyone only bought second hand not new , what a different world it would be
till this day ... there are line ups of girls waiting to go into the store
where can I find the whole video ???
HBO MAX
It’s trash. Dont bother lol
cant wait for red scare's reaction to this
"omg, this is anti white girl, anti west propaganda"
@@maymay-ci1oi That's because it literally is.
This is just a bizarre failed hit piece. There are all types of stores that target specific demographics of people. Imagine the horror when these people realize the were surrounded by stores that target people by age and race. If this offends anybody got to a place that doesn't. I hear Wall Mart is rather welcoming towards the type of women who produced this movie.
@@chriscox4936 you mad at people who aren't anorexic
@@maymay-ci1oi I just think it's weird that people are pretending to be upset that a store has a target demographic. Most stores do. I haven't really been in a Mall in fifteen years but I used to go as a teenager. There were stores I never stepped foot in because they weren't trying to sell me anything. It's not for me. It's like getting mad at Patagonia for having a target demographic. Have you ever been in a Patagonia store?
At this point we all know about fast fashion and its effects on society. Awareness has already been raised. It’s up to people to give af.
when can they make this viewable in the uk? HBO needs to get over here already
Ghana: "We're destroyed and impoverished"
Brandy Melville girl: "Imagine getting paid to take pictures in clothes, it was haunting"
Ok kelseyanne are we done caring about fake rich people problems
brandy melville literally only sells their stuff in XS/S not even medium LOL its not a rumor they make clothes only for skiiny girls its just truth
And so what. Overnight girlies have their plus size brands/stores. Why can slender girls have their?
I remember going to the store, the judgemental looks lol
Since it’s a doc I’ll DVR it
Wait what does that mean? Is that how to watch it for free?
You can only view it on MAX
@thrillington2008 oh dang, thansk
There have been super slim adults and grannys shopping there for basics, too, still the same size they’ve been since their teen years. Ectomorphs, specifically. Some also shop at The Children’s Place.
A label that only sells xs size should be banned because it endangers the health of young girls and women!!!
Why. Why can’t smaller girls have a store while obese women can have their plus size stores
Why don’t we ban plus size stores while we’re at it because it encourages acceptance of unhealthy lifestyles
If they only made one size, isn't that greener than making it in other sizes?
All fashion company do this
The slow fashion ones don’t do it.
The morally Kind ones dont do it
That doesn't make it ok
All do it. Maybe not so in ur face about it. Also almost all companies are fast fashion. Any that you have heard of anyways.
Nevvvver even heard of it.
they should do one about LF Stores
Remember how LF Stores looked like a tornado ran threw them... clothes in messy piles everywhere. I want the doc on the messy piles.
@@ericabercovitch5327 I use to work for headquarters in LA and they are awful. I ran social media for their carmar denim and the emma and sam clothing lines they carried there. theyre shady 🤡
Yes! They were so elitist and such mean girls. They went out of business, and now their clothing holds zero resale value lol it’s pretty hilarious considering how much they charged for their stuff.
@@rjane17-pz6dm UNREAL and we paid like $2 a piece for the vintage tshirts that we literally RUINED to resell
I loved their stickers that’s the only thing I “fit” there
Abercrombie Part 2
I feel like you can't make a Brandy Melville doc without Acacia Brinley somewhere
That’s weird.

is that john galt w. the black mask? i love this store & i still buy from here but i noticed a lot of things. it’s about time ya speak about this brand👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Exclusivity is in high demand
every famous brand
That’s funny. I thought it was a real housewives clothing brand.
Lolita shop.😮
well it is fast fashion but at least some of their clothes are made in Italy 100% cotton can we say the same about shein, zara , abercrombie , HnM and other fast fashion brands '???
Despite being made in Italy, they still used unethical practices. A lot of the workers who worked in those factories were underpaid Chinese immigrants. Location doesn't mean quality.
@@heidikessler6832 I am Italian, as far as I know the Italian part of the Brandy production is made by the company Liberty Tec srl which is not a company known for exploiting workers also because in Italy there is something called CCNL which protects the rights of workers in the textile and establishes minimum working hours and wages and therefore if they were not respected they would have to close m. The part of Brandy production in China is different, the one that is obviously less regulated but because it is China and they obviously resort to it to reduce prices otherwise. I'm not justifying them I'm just saying that they are not the worst in fast fashion there is much worse in terms of quality and production also because those who produce them in Bangladesh etc are even worse than the Chinese ones
@@shetalkstorainbows3 I think they went over how it happened in the documentary. I totally agree with you though, I don't know much about the Italian laws since I'm american. They might have worked with another factory in the past that was shut down due the exploitation and work with the one you mentioned now.
Katt Williams was right about 2024, people are going to start talking. Dan Schneider, Diddy, and Vince McMahon are the prime examples.
WOW
I watched this, I couldn’t understand, I am too old
See my comment above.
I feel like they are really reaching. If you don’t like what the company stands for don’t support it and shop there. Most big brands have these same issues
Retail abuse? Wow takin advantage of people in a way I’ve never heard of all in the name of $$. I guess it’s working because now they’ve got their own movie. Even negative publicity is a sales booster
Vanilla
Mhm never heard of it but sounds like another Abercrombie
this called branding , what's wrong ???
Ein Label das nur xs Größe verkauft müsste verboten werden wegen Gefährdung der Gesundheit der jungen Mädchen und Frauen !!!
This is just a bizarre failed hit piece. There are all types of stores that target specific demographics of people. Imagine the horror when these people realize the were surrounded by stores that target people by age and race. If this offends you got to a place that doesn't. You'll find Wall Mart rather welcoming.
I still want their pajamas though 😅 (don't worry i won't get it)
I cant
i want to walk into a store and dress the type to get asked “ can i take a pic “ and be like “ what, so you can send it to your boss? “
Why are we surprised by this.
Fashion is bad????
FAST fashion is bad
Only if it's fashion for White people, apparently. These POCs cry too much over nothing.
Definitely was popular among European Americans.
Never heard of her/this store and I have a degree in Fashion Merchandising 🤣🤣
It felt genuine because it was genuine. What a joke
But as long as the company puts up an LGBT or Ukraine flag, no questions asked, keep on buying as you were.
This is evidence that too many docs exist.
As in documentaries?
LEAVE BRANDY ALONE!!!!!
I want to know what happened to the big girls nose
if they knew anything about BM they wouldn't bother making this
Except it is your conventional clothing company.....we've seen and heard this story before.
then don’t buy it😂..
i'm still gonna shop there bc their clothing is cute and fits me!🤷♀
fashion fascism
This made me cry dude, this is way worse than I expected.
I remember when Ralph Lauren was the racist
Oh gosh where do I start. If the clothes dont fit then go to another shop. Its really that simple. Thennnnnnnn it said " I seen the models that were advertising the brand and was so surprised buy the people making the product". Like who you want back there making the products Tyra Banks or Kate Moss hahahahahaha.
Brandy definitely has its issues though - especially regarding who they hire and the racism
@@harp3386 And you think others don't? Cuz they aren't doing eye service and changing things like Victoria Secret to cater to everyone? If you don't like a brand go shop from others
The only problems I see is the white girls only and environment having small clothes isn’t an issue
Another feminist hit peace documentary these things are a dime a dozen lately and people see right through them. BM should not make any changes or apologize
So goofy, I love brandy Melville. I buy all my clothes from them because they actually fit me and I like their basic style
