I seen alot of martial art and also train in different styles 52 blocks looks as effective as anything I've ever seen without alot of fancy exaggeration in its movements would LOVE TO TRAIN IN THIS SYSTEM
In the prison back in the 60's and 70's we called it Gladiator style. And each prison had its Gladiator schools. You survive one of the gladiator schools and you were recognized as a total badass. In the prison cell it was 5 by 8. So tiny that you could extend your arms and touch both walls. This was a 2 man cell. So you develop this punching and blocking style. For tight quarters. Knife duels were also popular. So you used a lot of these style defenses. I survived nearly a dozen knife duels in my 13 years behind bars. So you learn to move firmly using shuffles and pivots because you have to be aware of all the other people who might intervene. 52 blocks is from a prison fighter somewhere in new york. But we all had our styles in different prisons.
Huge believer and practitioner of 52. It does work however it’s about using the fundamentals and then adding your own spin onto it. Best part is it can be paired up with any martial art if you practice more than one art form. #Longlive52Blocks #52
Whoa. This is really what I would call the streetfighting method. I have been in several REAL streetfights as a teen and I can tell this would not only work but it could save your life. in one of them, I got beat up by multiple attackers and I really wish I knew some of this. I have been following the 52 blocks for a few months and I can say that I'm impressed and grateful my son would be able to learn something like this in today's age.
I like this. This video is saying that the 52 is just as complex and effective as every other popular martial art and deserves the same respect and devotion.
Nabz yea! I knew some real og'z that was nice with their hands. They still nice even tho they are in their late 40's and early 50's. His style reminds me of them Brooklyn bumrushers! Those elbows and punches would be coming from all over the place. In Brooklyn that skull n crossbones was king!
@Freedom of Speech , Exactly Bro. When I was growing up in Brooklyn NYC, I learned '52 blocks' back when it was called Jail House Boxing ,, C-72 or Comstock boxing.
@@upabittoolate idk about that. I have a broken boxer fracture on my dominant hand and is still in good use however its not only my dominant hand because i train both orthodox and southpaw positions. I can still hit very hard with my hands (if my hands are hitting correctly and accurately)

Agreed. It's putting people to sleep in the cage too lol. In the world of 52 blocks / jailhouse rock we call it the "dead arm." There was a dude I heard about known as "Dead arm" Ro. This was his primary fight ender. Very effective indeed.
It's very effective. Years ago I was doing backyard boxing with some friends of mine and some other guys who lived in our house. And I landed an overhand right to the guys forehead and he went straight down. He didn't want to fight anymore after that.

Maureese Crump also did a great job showcasing this style against Tony Jaa in "The Protector 2"
It reminds me of Panantukan for the use of the elbows, headbutts and close quarter punches. And the continuous dance like footwork and arm movements remind me of Capoeira.
+Andres Valentin The leg sweep at 0:55 is definitely reminiscent of Capoeira. The flipping of his hands at 1:04 reminds me of Pencak Silat. As for the striking, definitely like suntukan, wished there was more dumog.

Indeed. It sure looks very effective to me. Lots of elbows and forearms rather than fists, which makes a lot of sense in a bare knuckle fight.

Studied pencak silat for 30 years. I see a lot of conceptual "borrows". Angles are very different though. Interesting.
I really like this style . Elbows , forearms, knees.. close quarters. In a Street fight most don’t stand a chance since most throw wide punches
Hell, most dont stand a chance because once their dominant hand gets broken from a bad punch, they're useless
Most dont realize thats the art of 8 limbs (Muay thai)
