RZR Valve Seal Replacement WITHOUT Removing Head

  • If you've noticed burning oil, and exhaust smoke upon first startup, your valve seals may have gone bad. Here's how to replace your RZR valve seals without removing the head. In 2013, Polaris switched to a different style valve seal but the steps will still work with the new style. Removing the bed may be required to get the exhaust valve seals. Thanks for watching!

Thank you sir. I've been looking for someone to do this to see how much room you have to work with in the head and how much tension the valve springs have.
I'm pleasantly surprised at the small amount of pressure needed to compress the valve spring and release the keepers.
Seems much less than all the OHV or OHC valve springs I've messed with on a cars or trucks. (normally I remove the heads and use a valve spring compressor tool on a bench to remove valve springs).
Will be replacing valves seals on my next oil change and also installing an upgraded timing chain tensioner. Thanks for the video.

I still have my leak down tester from when I was turning wrenches too so that's a plus :)

@@james4wd236 awesome! Thanks for the generous comments. It was very easy to do this job and even if you dont have a valve spring compressor, it's easy enough to rig something together to make it work. Good luck!

What type and size valve spring compression tool are you using? Checked Harbor Freight and NAPA in my area and can't find one that looks like yours...great video!

Have a link to the compressor? I’ve been looking for one with no luck.

In the process of doing this. Is it real important that the piston be top dead center or as long as the cam shaft is not putting pressure on the buckets I can just put some pressure into the cylinder and get it done ?

You can do it that way. Top dead center makes it easier when you put the timing chain back on it because otherwise those cam lobes will fight you the entire time. Good luck and thanks for watching!

@@djnemesis82pluss1877 I think I got this one on Amazon but harbor freight sells one that would work just fine. Any auto parts store will sell a valve spring compressor tool.

Which tool? I used a leakdown tester to hold the valve up and I used a valve spring clamp tool to release the valve keepers.
