I don't have another cap to repair, you just need to use the ladder stitch so that it will become blind stitch, I hope it can help

I also make ladder stitches in other projects, that works very well
Nice job. But lots of work and skill. Are you aware of any easier methods? Like a glue on strip etc.
If you can buy fabric glue, you can cover the torn much easier than doing this method, I hope I answered your question
