I’ve developed this acrylic painting course inspired by a Venetian Sunset to help guide you through the process of moving from small-scale to large-scale acrylic paintings.
What will the Impressionistic Light & the Landscape course cover?
1x large-scale finished painting of a Venice Sunset taking you step-by-step from drawing right through to the final glazes.
3 x small supporting studies to practice your techniques and refine your vision.
The course is studio based and split into 8 downloadable video lessons, with each lesson made up of separate chapters that follow on sequentially.
There are reference images jpegs and drawing worksheets to work alongside from, including a mapped out grid for scaling up your drawing, black and white print outs and full material list.
Over 4 hours of lessons, this course gives you a fab foundation for you to build upon.
I've watched your excellent videos for over a year and have improved a lot thanks to you. Now I have enrolled in this class and look forward to learning how to Go Big! Thank you very much for this valuable offer. Just the other day I began to worry when I noticed you hadn't uploaded anything in a few months. This class answered that call.
Good one Tina, really pleased you've been finding the lessons helpful and hope you enjoy working through the new course.
Cheers,
Will
Hi Will, I'm so excited about this course. I've been all over the 'net in the past 1 1/2 years, trying out various acrylic painting tutorials, and I've found yours are the best. People are amazed by my Cherry and Apple paintings... I just bat my eyelashes and smile... Thank you, Will!
That's great to hear Lily, so pleased your cherry and apple paintings turned out well.
Cheers,
Will

This guy relaxes me just listening to his soft, gentle voice.
Greetings Will. I am curious to know how much do you rely on initial sketches versus photographs as reference for your paintings. In the cover photo to this course you appear to be sketching the scene with pen or pencil. Do you then take this sketch back to your studio and start painting over the drawing? If so, how do you recall the various colors? Thanks so much.
Hi Chuck, if I'm working on a larger studio piece it's often a mix of the two. The sketches and small plein air painting studies help to focus in your composition and tonal values and the photos can work for colour reference. The sketches usually stay as they are creates in-situ but I might add a few washes of colour if I feel it would help the piece.
Cheers,
Will

You are the best Art teacher I have ever seen. Thanks for your video courses.
I am not ready to tackle Acrylics yet as charcoal and pastel pencils are my chosen medium at present.
Keep on making online courses we can purchase please.
My favourite parts are when you show how some of the Great Masters learned their techniques and reproduce those techniques for us.
That's very kind of you Robin, good luck with your sketches,
Will

Exciting! Thank you for this new course. It's very inspiring for me as I was actually thinking about capturing that Venice light, and also wondering how to do proper studies before starting one big piece. Talk about a coincidence :) I will certainly end up buying this course as soon as my current projects are over.
Perfect timing Chloe, hope you find the course helpful.

I'm more of a digital painting guy but I've done some acrylics in the past. I have no Idea that most of the techniques are very similar to digital painting! I find most of the techniques you taught in your video very useful regardless what your medium is.
Too right Aldo, classical principles form the basis for many different mediums from traditional to digital.
Cheers,
Will
