    Glad you came back to post videos, they are very good! I'm from Brazil and I have a CRF 230F and I'm crazy about trails ... We've put together some people every week and walked through the mountains of Minas Gerais. Is an addiction !!! Forgive my English...

    Great video! I grew up riding ‘94-‘96 XRs. They’re great all-around off-road bikes, and that almost linear powerband in the low-end makes them so easy on unforgiving trails.
    Do you have a rough price list or estimate for the engine and fork rebuild work? With the lack of intact ‘94-‘96 Honda XR600s, I’ve been considering getting a used frame, and building one from the ground up. However, before I’d undertake such an endeavor, I’d enjoy any insights you could share.

    There is a part missing from my rear swing arm that my puppy made off with while I had it apart. Using the metal detector to locate it.

  • @aussiefarmer8741
    @aussiefarmer8741 3 года назад +1

    Good Job. I don't know why people let bikes get in such disrepair. I'm not saying everyone needs to spit and polish, Just do the right maintenance and show some respect for the machine. I hate bikes that waste away. I have to fix them.

    Nice work ! What types of sand paper are used to restore the plastic ? Great videos !

    • @HillsNest
      @HillsNest  7 лет назад

      Tim Hall thanks man. Just using normal wet sanding paper thay comes in A4 sheets. I think I went up to 1800 grit in several stages.

    How did your cam journals look? Honda really dropped the ball by not using bearings. So many of these bikes don't get proper oil changes and cam chain adjustments which leads to head damage. I have a '99 in perfect condition except the cam journals.

    • @HillsNest
      @HillsNest  8 лет назад

      Yes they really needed them indeed, because your exactly right. Mine where ok, but not perfect. I learnt that, about cam needing manual adjustment! But the damage from the chain is mostly insignificant once fixed

      +Hills Nest How is your shock? The reason I ask, it's not rebuildable and you hop logs etc....

    • @HillsNest
      @HillsNest  8 лет назад +1

      Well, the shock not working actually helps me. On a bike
      with setting we would set the suspension to have high rebound, which actually is almost the same as deactivating it to my understanding. So high rebound is good in all the trails technique stuff. So even log hopping, ‘’unweighting the bike’’, you punch front tire in log and both front and rear suspension compress. Then energy in rear shock causes the bike to lift. If the shock was actually working fully, it wouldn’t have such a strong lift.

    Which bike is more fun, the 250 or the 200?

    • @ryu1014
      @ryu1014 3 года назад

      The xr200r is a fun trail bike. Light as feather and strong like ox. The xr250r on the other hand is a bull, power is obvious and heavier.

      I just watched your video Paul. Very nice! I'm the original owner of an '84 XR 500R and did a a complete remodel on my bike also. I decided to go with a modern look but to each his own. I love to see "our" bikes still out there.

    Did you grind down the frame before painting?

    • @ohyeahjosiah3722
      @ohyeahjosiah3722 7 лет назад

      And how did you get the case to look so new? I have a 1990 Honda xr200r that I am fully restoring and I also have a 1995 Honda xr200r that I am trying to get running. I am thinking about making a channel with my friend called J&C productions were we record us restoring them and working in my garage check it out because I might need some help

    • @HillsNest
      @HillsNest  7 лет назад +1

      no, just done by hand. Sand blast would be better. Grinding will likely leave to deep marks

    • @HillsNest
      @HillsNest  7 лет назад +1

      Hand sanding again and pain jop. Good luck, you'll be fine if you put some time in to get it out. Check out youtube channel training videos
