I love John Mayer & I love the Grateful Dead but even I had my reservations when Dead & Co. were announced but god damn was I wrong! John is a perfect fit and if you didn't know any better you'd think he's been with them for decades - he's definitely helping carry the Dead forward and dare I say it even channeling Jerry at times!
I keep coming back to this China/rider. I believe I am attracted to Mayer's reckless abandon coupled with his great skill. It is stirring the crowd into a frenzy, cool. BTW, Bill's cap is on backwards, look out!
I love the little "conferences" that Mayer and Weir have now and then ... when they get together real close and look at each other's guitars during a jam. Kind of like a pitcher's conference on the mound!
Was a great time.. Although i wasnt crazy about Bobs tone and when he used a slide.. They had a lot of energy at times, glad i went.. I love Trey but i think Mayer is a great fit.. Hopefully they will keep going for a bit..
Does one dare compare Luke to Obi-Wan? That's what we're talking about here -- guitar JEDI's. Mayer is incredibly talented, and the right choice to succeed (not replace) Jerry. I think Jerry would be the first to agree. Let's hear it for LICORICE!
