Great video. My Hubby & I just recently went through everything in our kitchen. We will revisit it in a few months to see what we're not using & get rid of even more. To date, we've probably gotten rid of 300+ items just in the kitchen.
Thank you for the video, Shannon! My family recently downsized and our kitchen is MUCH smaller. I'm working with my mother on decluttering pots and pans since she only uses 4 of the 13 (seriously, I counted) of the pans she's grown in her collection over the last 20 years. Your videos with your mom have been great motivation to keep us accountable! I'm already noticing how much less stressed I am with less stuff and am gradually working with my mom to have the same benefit too.
I'll say it again, especially to new viewers...this is what 2.0 de-cluttering and re-organizing is supposed to look like and be. Shannon is just the best at this! I never get tired of her "pass through" videos of CONTINUOUS de-cluttering and how quick it goes! This is the lesson.
Thank you so much! It is so easy to declutter now that the initial decluttering process is over. It is just maintenance now =) I hope you have a great day!
Thanks for sharing. I love watching you declutter and get rid of things you no longer use. I'm getting rid of 2 sets of sheets. They just don't stay on the bed very well anymore. Sad because I like them both and still have more life left but what can you do. I like going through my stuff periodically.
Hi Sam, I also had to get rid of some sheets that were constantly falling off the corners of my bed. I usually donate them to an animal shelter. I hope you are having a good week.
Great video Shannon! Your tips are always so helpful and encouraging. Your kitchen is well thought out, organized and most importantly inviting. Big hugs to you my sweet friend! 💛🤗💛
Love your videos, you’re always so real and relatable! I’ve decluttered my kitchen twice so far, you’ve given me the motivation to go through it again! Also enjoy when your mom joins you...we’re the same generation, and it’s nice to see my “peers” working through the same “stuff”! :)
I love your kitchen Shannon. We contemplated re-doing our kitchen years ago. The chaos and costs though motivated us to refresh it instead and it’s fine. My hubby likes saving bags too. It’s a good idea but I have to weed out every so often or we’d have like a thousand bags😂 Nice seeing your Mom
Hi Linda, we are also going to be keeping our kitchen until we have enough money, time, and energy saved up for the project. The bags build up fast LOL
Shannon, I do so many of these things and it works so well! I love the title~ random items drawer~ ( rather than junk drawer) It still gives a space for things that may be slightly unrelated but that you still use. I have one of those drawers as well and I never liked calling it a junk drawer because it's just one skinny drawer that pulls out in our kitchen. I like your husband's idea of reusing bread bags for baggies. My husband loves baggies and he does not like to be without them. Recently though, I neglected to buy them and now a couple of months have went by and he hasn't even really missed them. I'm going to borrow that idea from you about reusing bread bags, that is so great! I like to keep a few things out to remind me as a visual reminder as you've done with the vitamins but once I see that I'm no longer using something like that as much, I revisit it and place it in the cabinet. I have also found that a good place to keep my vitamins is next to my teacups in the coffee & tea cabinet bc I will reach for those when I make breakfast. I like the little bin that you've organized your tea into... I may try to find something simple like that to save space. This was another great video which will help many, I just know it! I wish you a great day and to your mom, Kathy as well!☕️😊🍋 I just checked out the membership. I have never been motivated to try this on another Channel but since your channel is nearly my favorite and I relate to you so well I'm excited about this. And it's even priced for a frugal person like myself, thank you.
Hello Juliab! That is great your husband is not missing the baggies, that is how we started to not use them too. I hope you can get something out of the membership, I am happy to have you there and here at my channel. Just let me know any topics you would like a video on and I would be happy to make one. I hope you are having a wonderful day. =)
Shannon I have a small kitchen too, yet I enjoy how easy for me to maintain it. I frequently declutter my kitchen, the most used items are put in the front or easily assessed. I added wire shelves for pots and pans, so I don’t nest them and it’s so easy to get the piece that I need. Enjoy your videos.
I have one of those funky cabinets where things can go to die behind the unaccessible corners. IF you decide you need to use that funky cabinet, I highly advise using baskets in a size that can slide in and out of the cabinet door. That way things will be in the basket and won't get lost in the dead zone.
As a senior citizen I’ve switched to plastic wear, because if it slips out of my hands there’s not broken glass to dodge. Got caught in the kitchen with broken glass around me and no shoes on,Twice. Something to think of as you, or someone you love, ages.
I really enjoyed this video Shannon, thank you from NZ! I have been following you a long time but don’t normally comment. I am on my own decluttering journey all the time and this video was inspiring to go through my kitchen with new eyes. Have a blessed day. 🌸😊
I appreciate your efforts to cut down on plastic. Other ideas: buy laundry detergent in boxes, not plastic, buy shampoo, conditioner & deodorant in "bars" rather than plastic. Works great and lasts a LONG time. Put plastic bags out by your fence for dog walkers who have forgotten to bring Theirs.
Cactus Shot Glasses - so darn cute, would they work on your window sill for a bud vase? Maybe just one, since they're from your mom. I like the glass storage containers with lids that you have.
Shannon, I love that you painted your cupboards white. You might want to switch out your hardware to black, that would really update your beautifully minimal kitchen.
I always love your videos! So many inspiring videos. Have you thought about storing your storage glassware together (like the lid on the glass bottom)? You have plenty of space to do it. I didn't think I would like doing it, because I don't have a ton of space, but I actually love it. So easy to grab it and store food!
It's so funny you mention that because I was trying to store them that way, but since I wash them by hand a lot of the time the lids are not entirely dry and it would trap moisture. But I loved storing them that way when they are dry =)
@@jenniferascolese56 I have the same scenario here. We do have a dishwasher but it does not have a drying feature so the lids I set to air dry when I unload it. Then I have to wait a while before I can snap them on. I used to store them in a little bin like Shannon does, but now we have limited space for that.
I only ever owned wine glasses but I had many beautiful sets. Colorful, antiques, etc. But the truth is I usually drink wine in a juice glass because it's easier. And I don't drink wine very often. So I decluttered down to 4 beautiful antique glasses my mother-in‐law gave me from her own cabinet because I liked them so much. Her mom owned them before her. My mom in law died at 100 5 years ago. So these glasses are old and a family heirloom too. (My husband is 8 years older than me and was born when she was in her 40s so I'm not so very old 😉)
Hi Shannon! I always look forward to your videos and have learned so much from you.😊 I am trying to get away from plastic bags, what brand of reusable (Ziploc type) ones do you like? I have tried a few but haven't found a favorite yet.
Hi Kayleigh, I have only tried a few from grove collaborative, but I am pretty sure they sell them more places. I like these, but in general they are kinda hard to clean.
@@shannontorrens1 thanks for replying! 😊 I will check out the ones on grove. I also find them hard to clean in general but I hate sending the disposable ones in my kid's lunches every day.
I still have the pans in my garage in the pile of things to go, I need to look up what to do with them. I would assume that they might have to go in the trash. The lids I can donate. That shaker was given to me years ago so I have no idea where it originally came from =)

“Do your best and always laugh”. Yes! Thanks Shannon
