  • Here are the times when Anthony Edwards humiliated his opponents:
First, we have him baptizing John the Baptist
John Collins is known for dunking on heads as one of the most athletic players in his position. But while it may be true that he’s a pretty good dunker himself, staying in the paint defensively can have a ton of consequences, especially if you’re not a good shot blocker. Just look at what Anthony Edwards did to him on this incredible highlight-reel play.
With the Minnesota Timberwolves running back on the offensive end, Ant-Man had a head start when he got the ball and had a clear runway. Collins, who was in the perfect position to contest the shot or, at least, be big enough to prevent anyone from attacking the basket, was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Edwards didn’t care who was in front when he launched an aerial attack while bodying up Collins. Now, Collins knows what it feels like to get baptized. Kyle Anderson’s face says it all.
Then, as a rookie, he almost sent Yuta Watanabe back to Japan with the dunk of the season
Before he got to the NBA, Anthony Edwards was already an athletic beast capable of jumping through the roof with a vertical leaping ability of over 40 inches. But the best part about his game is his strength and explosiveness, kind of like he’s a 6’4” version of LeBron James when he’s attacking the basket. Yuta Watanabe was one of the first people to taste the Ant-Man’s fury at the rim.
With Edwards using a fake move to get a clear runway to the basket, the athletic wing had all the time in the world to decide what he was about to do. Of course, he already knew that he was going to dunk the ball, and he didn’t care about Watanabe being there to try to keep him from exploding to the rack. But with his head over the rim, Ant-Man cocked the ball back and simply jammed it in front of Watanabe, who may have learned the hard way that he shouldn’t have tried contesting that shot. The dunk is widely known as the dunk of the 2020-21 season, and Ant was just a rookie when he did that.
