I don't have specific interest in this type of spec purchase, but I can understand the lure of it and the chance to get something that could wow you. It's just a chance to take or side step and you took a chance. Not a grail on any level but a nice cover and as many have already mentioned, you could list it for sale. Me? I'd take my 2 bills and go for something I would like to have from the Marvel silver age, even if I have it already. In any event, you gave it a shot and to each their own. Thanks for posting. Best to all.
All good. Can’t all be PC books. Appreciate the extra info on your listing. Ratios are tough as they are obviously rarer and don’t go up for sale often.
$200 wasted in my opinion but I am not a big gambler. I could tell by your face when you opened that book you were disappointed. I don’t blame you and I was waiting for you to pull the next book or more books. When you cut scene I was like “Oh s%#! Is that all he got?” I would much rather pay that money for something I knew I wanted even in raw or low grade, but maybe that’s just me. Keep up the great content! Getting ready to dive into cleaning and pressing some of my books based off of yours and a few others great content and educational videos. Wish me luck
It was not a book I was expecting that is true but it is part of the gamble with mystery boxes. Good luck on the starting your comic pressing journey. I am obviously a fan of the pursuit!
I bought one of his boxes before and it didn't reach the suggested value of the box, wasn't great slabs either. That was my 1st and last box from Brys comics. I'd be pretty pissed if I got the box you got for $200. Don't think it's fair to give a suggested fmv on a value from a few years ago. Poor form
I love the boxes, I’ve bought a couple and missed but we go in knowing it’s a gamble right? Can definitely be tough to justify “value” for some books but I feel like Bry is as transparent as he can be with his business model.
Mystery boxes can be a tough formula for sure and while I am disappointed with the box I got I hope it doesn’t come across as an attack on Bry. I’ve been a subscriber of his pretty much from day one and a lot of his content has shaped the hobby for me. My experience and feedback is just there to help people make informed decisions in the future and that includes the people making the boxes as well.
@@hobbyhero6973 I definitely understand that and I know a lot of people appreciate a look behind the curtain to help them decide whether to take the plunge themselves. I enjoy the majority of your content and always look forward to the new videos!!
I can't find a single unboxing where the buyer was satisfied with a bry mystery box. I'm starting to wonder if the grand prizes are even real. Lots of garbage moderns with very little sales data.
Opened my Mystery Box last night. Got 2 9.8s that added up to about $550 and also had 3 loose books in there. I normally only buy older books, but just had a feeling that I was getting a good one. Would have loved the Hulk (which would be an upgrade) or the GSX (which I still don't have), but still very happy with my box. It was a win.
These mystery boxes are a scam- thats why I never buy them. He's just using this as a means to offload a bunch of trash books he cant sell otherwise. He sold 500 boxes at $200 a pop, so $100,000 worth of books. By incentivising people with a slim chance to win a big prize, people jump into it in droves, it's exactly how the lottery works. It's a brilliant way to sell books and he's not the only one that does it, but I never buy these for a reason.
I have bought (and sold) several mystery boxes with GPs and they aren’t all win or lose lottery tickets. These box values and book selections do leave a lot to be desired. As you pointed out he sold $100k in books and from what I’ve seen only put up about $15k worth of desirable books.
I almost pulled the trigger to make this a first mystery box for me however they moved so quickly, it never happened. There were very nice Quesada variants for Star Wars but it looks like he was selling those separately and not part of the lot for the boxes. Tough call but I’m not obsessed with the three big prize slabs so I didn’t jump.
Mystery boxes are a good way for people to move crap and I do mean crap. Has anyone ever really won any BIG books that has been advertised as the prizes? No. Why? Because no one in their right mind would put a book like that in a mystery box.
He did advertise his winners of the big three so I do believe those went out. Was really just hoping for more out of the non GPs. Ratio variants are generally hard to move and from the boxes I’ve seen that is all that was in there.
Brys Mystery Box turned out to be a joke, and a massive disappointment. In particular, the value didn't match what he said they would, which is really grounds for being able to return them.
Out of 500 boxes I’ve only seen about 10 so hard to say anything definitive about whole run but I was hoping for something better in the other 497 boxes than what I have seen.
i got 2 orders $438.00 tax and shipping receive 3 graded comics FMV is about $720.00 don't know if I can get that for them. But they are nice graded comics including Miles Morales.
That’s a tough break hopefully you can move it and at least get your money back. You could always do an episode” what I should’ve bought with my $200 “ show some keys in that price range

I don’t have a problem with retail aspect of it. I also don’t have an issue with lottery style mystery boxes if they are presented as such. Yeah it goes both ways. I’ve picked up some neat books for my PC and some great prices through mystery boxes. Always a risk tho.
The hurt in your voice is epic....the box is a fail...thank you for your sacrifice
