this was awesome jay!!! i absolutely looooove your videos -this is probably the best thing on youtube right now i would love to meet you as your my role model keep on being a legend i love you!!!!
This is my least favourite topic in all of the gcse spec and, being in set 1, it was kinda rushed through. I have an exam in 3 days so I decided to focus on quadratics as I had no idea what to do and this video has genuinely taught me more in 8 minutes than my teacher taught us in like 3 hours.
YOOOO Thanks For the video Man i got My further maths Exam tmr this is exactly what i wanted Anyone how do you even manage to message to all of us even after 6 years also how old where u when u made this your voice sounds soo young
The simplest points to plot are on the axes, and these are where x=0 and y=0, so just substitute into x+2y=8: When x=0, 2y=8, so y=4. When y=0, x=8. Does that help?
@@MathsWithJay hi yes I am but I was just wondering the grade this type of work would be in terms of GCSE grades, whether it’s grade 6 work or higher? Thanks
Wow this was so incredibly helpful! Got my maths exam tomorrow, hopefully it all goes well, thank you.
Best of luck!
How'd it go

Thank you! I’m an IGCSE student and this helped!
Excellent!
Most helpful video on RUclips, I would say. This video helped me more than any other video did
Wow, thanks!

Thanks so much. I really hope with this I pass math exam today.
Best of luck!
Thanks for teaching!
My pleasure!
I don't get how (5y - 2) (y - 6) makes -32y. Surely it would be -8y +12. I dont get thissss
(-2)*(y) = -2y and (5y)*(-6) = -30y, then -2y - 30y = -32y
(5y - 2)(y - 6) = 5y^2 - 30y -2y + 12 www.mathsisfun.com/definitions/foil-method.html
-30y - 2y = -32y www.mathsisfun.com/algebra/like-terms.html
8*2=16+16=32
Thank you very helpful

thank you so much for the help
Happy to help
Ur the bessttttt
Thank you
when u do the factorising bit (5y-2)(y-6)=0 what did u do with -32y did u just leave it or
5y x -6 = -30y and -2 x y = -2y, adding -30y and -2y gives -32y
Thank you so much ma l am glad

Hi > it is useful , can i get some practice question link

Oh, this isnt too bad actually. Thanks
welcome
This was nit helpful 😢 still failling maths 😮😅😢 please somome send me money to afford a tutor and some new kicks 😊thanks x
At what time in the video do you have a problem?
3:50 So this cannot to be factories , QUADRATIC FORMULAE only
Be patient! Keep watching the video for another minute and you will see how to factorise...
Hey! Thank you so much for video, but I have a doubt in how you drew the graph. Could you please explain in a more detailed way.
How would you start drawing the graph?
THANK YOU
You're welcome 😊
I don’t understand the last part where you bracket and try to get -32y
At what time in the video?
@@MathsWithJay towards the end
Thank you very much
You are welcome
Very helpful! But I can't seem to understand the last part (graph), what numbers did you use to plot the first equation?
The simplest points to plot are on the axes, and these are where x=0 and y=0, so just substitute into x+2y=8: When x=0, 2y=8, so y=4. When y=0, x=8.
Does that help?
@@MathsWithJay Yes, perfect! Thanks
i dont get why is it y=0.4
At what time in the video?
it is y=0.4 because -2 was moved after the equal sign and it become 0+2=2,,,,,,,then it was 5y=2 divide by 5 =0.4....l don't know if l helped or not.
How do you get 0.4 when you sibtitute by 3
At what time in the video?
Thanks so much
You're welcome!
can you please solve this equation this night using simultaneous equation 1 linear and 1quadratic (4x²-y²=15)
(2x-y=5)
Start by making y the subject of the second equation...
I do not understand how you got y when you forgot about -32y
At what time in the video?
What if the quadratic equation is x²-y²=52
Then the same method will apply
what do you do if x is like 4x ect
Divide through by 4
How did u get 12 in the first equation
At what time in the video?
What grade would this be bc it’s rlly hard, also how would you know whether to use 0.4 or 6 seeing as they both equal y
Are you doing GCSE? Look at the graph where I show why there are 2 values, then you will see that there are 2 solutions.
@@MathsWithJay hi yes I am but I was just wondering the grade this type of work would be in terms of GCSE grades, whether it’s grade 6 work or higher? Thanks
@Alice: Because these are challenging, they are grade 8 (whereas the easy simultaneous equations are grade 5)
what do i do if the non linear is, xy = 12 instead of the x and y squared
Make x or y the subject, then sub in the other equation, so that it only has x or y
Hi Jay... This video helped a lot.. Can please make a video of plotting the the lines... Im having a hard time plotting those
You could rearrange the 1st one to make y the subject, so y=mx+c. The other one is a circle, centre the origin...
3:21 shouldn't it be - 32y+5y squared since you canceled the 64
We are not cancelling 64. We are subtracting 52 from both sides: 64 - 52 = 12
-6 x 5 is -30 so im confused to why you said -6x5y comes to -32y. I would please like some help 4:44
"and -2y"
so -30y - 2y = -32y
How is y= 0.4? at 4:51
5y-2=0, so 5y=2, and y=2/5
i didn’t understand why its (5y-2) (y-6)
At what time in the video?
Question how did you get 32?
At what time in the video?
-16y-16y
i don't understand the factorising
See ruclips.net/video/sMj1GAc3hAU/видео.html
how did you get -32y im confused
At what time in the video?
@@MathsWithJay never mind i worked it out lol. 2:45 was the time anyways
saved my exams.
Excellent!
Are u allowed to change the order ?
@Dexterous Logic: Of what? At what time in the video?
This is tough😳
Do you have a question about it?
@@MathsWithJay nope its fine now i understood as i progressed further whilst watching the video. Thanks!
I am trying to solve
X + 2y =3.....(1)
X^2 + 2y^2 =6......(2)
That's similar to the equations in this video. So how will you start?
I thought that (8-2y) squared would be (8-2y)(8+2y) as a minus by a plus gives a minus
But 3 squared is just 3*3, no change of sign
@@MathsWithJay yes but since this is a minus to make it a minus again you must do a plus no?
No....whenever you square something, the something remains the same. When you multiply (-2y) by (-2y) it is a positive answer. Does that make sense?
Yes but it would be 64 +4y
Actually its a woman
@Becky: :)
@@MathsWithJay aye😂🤩🤩
I don’t understand when u factorise my equation is impossible it’s 2y^ - 5y + 12 = 0
At what time in the video?
Anyone to help me with this simultaneous equation
x-y=2
2x to the power of 2 -3y to the the power of 2=15
Start by numbering the equations, then make x the subject of the first one...
Tomorrow is my exam plzz pray for me
Good luck!
All the best for your tomorrow's Exam ✌️😂

Isnt y=-0.4 and -6
Remember that you can check your solutions by substituting them in to both equations
you are jay?
Yes!

thank you
8 multiply by 2 is not 32
