Minimalism makes me to happy. Listening to you or anyone else talk about decluttering just relaxes me 😂 I used to have so much stuff! I would get so stressed getting rid of anything! Now I get happy getting rid of things
Great video Becky. 🙂 I started minimalism before I even knew what it was. I live in a house over 30 years old. It's like it creates its own dirt. 😅 Not only that but I would see ants, roaches or spiders (I would call this place the bug house) 😵💫 To keep ontop of the pest control and the cleaning I called it 'project nowhere to hide'. I started reading blogs and watching videos on how to easier maintain the home. That's when I learnt about minimalism.
Yes im trying to reframe cleaning the house as self care. Its sunday and i want/ need to rest but im cleaning and organizing because there is a family coming for a play date on tuesday and i have other commitments on monday. Im stressed and angry thiking im cleaning for these other kids to come play and resentful towards my daughter because everything i do is for her. But im also coming around to im doing this for me. We moved recently and i never got to fully unpack, set up, and organize so its just chaos now and ive been to embaressed to invite anyone over. I keep puching out a house warming gettogether month after month. It feels like im doing itfor them but really i need to do this for me. It should not be a big deal to tidy up and have people in my home. I will get over and through this😂
❤❣️ I was going through all of my clothes & w/out realizing it I've minimalized the amount of how many pairs of pants n shorts I have as well as how many shirts from hoodies to tank tops & shoes. Next I'm going to work on my bathroom items, now that the clothes & shoes r done.
❤ Just started watching your videos and I am absolutely loving them! Also I’m sure you’ve heard this before but you have a striking resemblance to Sarah Chalke!
Whatever your preferred cleaning style is should probably be the decluttering method you use. Some like to focus on one room at a time and some like to flit about here and there where the most need is. Some can designate a significant amount of time at once and some can only do shorter increments.
You’re right that when putting things away is hard you subconsciously avoid it. Along those lines, don’t store things in such a way where you put one container away behind another. Always make sure the things stored on shelves are one layer deep. If you have to first move one container to get to another then you’ll just decide that’s too hard. Also if you have to store things more than one layer deep it’s sign you need to get rid of some stuff.
I don't really have a why...I just don't want to be overwhelmed by managing so much stuff with the added benefit of blessing others with donations. Mmmmm....a subconscious why?
Love that! And that can be your “why” overwhelm and that you want less to manage ❤️ keep that in mind when you want to bring new things in 👏💕 thanks so much for sharing!
Karen here I have severe allergies and severe as I have come to the conclusion everything needs to be behind closed doors I love certain objects that collect dust. I inherited a big glass cabinet. Thats where pretty or special things go. I take one thing and put it out seasonally. The rest stay in the cabinet. Christmas a few more. I dust inside 3x a year.
