Lead singer and lead guitarist are both mixed race (to answer the question I think was asked). RATM is 100% a protest rock group. They pretty much pioneered the "rap rock" genre and tbh are still the best at it. All their songs have real meaning, often decrying things like police brutality, institutional racism, media manipulation, etc. They are real af. For one of their videos, they obstructed wall street by playing an unannounced protest concert in the street and got in actual trouble with the police. They were asked to write a song for the Godzilla (1998) soundtrack, and the song they submitted was literally about how the movie is capitalist bullsh** but the studio still put it out on the soundtrack anyway haha. But hey, Zach is actually a really good lyracist. If you wanna hear him rap without the rock, he has done some solo and collab work. He has a collab with Run The Jewels that's worth checking out.
