I'm an American and I knew nothing at all about this story, but I heard you on a Mark Steele podcast and you mentioned the special so I checked it out. What a smart and brave and well-crafted show. And it worked even without the years of context that I'm sure the rest of the audience had. I'm glad you're still working.

I'm a huge comedy fan and I can honestly say that this is one of thee best hours of stand up I've ever seen. It's raw, authentic and just hilarious. We saw Seann several years ago and it was the best live comedy gig we've seen. Brilliant. With the gift of hindsight the Strictly fallout was a massive over reaction. Absolutely unbelievable. Really hoping everything is back on track now as we will be looking forwards to seeing more live performances
Brilliant stand up comedy, haven't laughed as hard for a long time. Everyone goes through some form of trauma in their life and I could feel a real sense of empathy as you went through recounting all the painful details of the scandal (which I honestly had no idea about). Everyone makes mistakes, we live and learn. Hope you're in a better place now and that we get to see more of your work soon. Take care.

YES! It's just unbelievable. I wonder about the percentage of people who've made this same mistake. My guess is it's very high and therefore, statistically, it's a fair assumption that many of the people shouting about this have done that too. And even if they did - really? REALLY? Is this really the spectacular topic you want to focus on? Ugh.
Yes at the end of the day, it was her participation too. Its only her husband and his girlfriend should have been affected by this, I understand he is a role model and he should have a few consequences, but now ,enough, he apologised and paid for it.
Great set glad he is back and doing reasonably well. People were too quick to judge Seann for something many have done before. He did not deserve what he got.
Came here after watching Triggernometry. Wasn't expecting much because Seann said his commedy was about microwaves; this however was very good, it was cathartic, raw. I still don't understand why he was cancelled but I am not British I'm Portuguese. For me that would be something to work out privately with your girlfriend. Why would the press even be interested in that? Mind boggling... I guess it's the puritanism still alive in British society. Keep on doing this, you're good.
This is too funny! Seann Walsh is a rare type of comedian - a genuinely funny one. His material is hilarious. This ‘special’ should be given UNESCO heritage status. Thank you for putting this most honest of shows on YT. 👌🏻😉

I remember standing next to Sean outside of up the creek having a smoke. I had no idea about the kiss. But asked him why he felt so sad. Such a very sensitive guy. Ofcourse!! That’s why he’s so good. He was truly devastated. Cannot believe his own countrymen treated this treasure like shit. However. It’s now 2024 n I’ve just binged all the work he’s done after bouncing back Ffng hell here’s to u Sean that nothing may ever ‘cancel’ u again ❤

Came here from RHLSTP. I really liked that Interview and this is a very fun and touching show. I have to say I saw that gag on HIGNFY, and thought it was beneath the level you usually expect from Richard Ayoade, even if it is written for him.
I always liked Seann Walsh before, even when his stuff doesn’t go that well he’s got a shambolic feel that makes him physically entertaining, and with his stories of loving Jim Carrey that makes a lot of sense.
Good luck to Seann and hope I can watch his Edingburgh show even if remotely.

Really great to see you back, Seann. We first saw you opening for another comedian (maybe Stephen K Amos if I remember right?) at the MK Stables. We thought your set stole the night, and my Mum especially fell absolutely in love, with you quickly becoming her favourite comedian. You even gave up your time to talk to us in the lobby after the show, when most comedians would have just buggered off back stage!
As Strictly fans, we were really excited when we heard you were taking part, and voted for you and Katya every week. The whole thing in the media just became so ugly, the coverage went waaaay past the line, especially considering they were covering something that had become a Strictly tradition at that point! Certainly don't recall Rachel Riley getting this kind of abuse, anyway...
Hope this set helps to put you back on the right track to where you deserve to be, would love to come see you on tour again sometime

You know I'm a fan mate, you know or have probably dug around and know I started at 22 and it is fine (that) my career is nearly non existant still. You deserve to be more than this mistake and I hope for a long time you keep having an audience ...if said members of your audience happen to look like Incel terrorists then maybe going on a 'jolly' to Plymouth so they could see one last comedy show and quietly throw themselves off the pier with bricks in my pocket

Maybe others might watch this and have a little think about the times they’ve fucked up and how they’d feel if they were treated the way you were.

Confession: I didn't know who you were before this. I'm Dutch, I've heard of Strictly, obviously, but have never watched it, and those are my excuses. This show was recommended by Fern Brady in an Instagram story. Never thought Instagram would lead to anything good ;-) but there you were. This was so good. The authenticity, the way you describe things, the nice balance between loud and quiet, the spot on impressions, the great timing of inserting a joke after something difficult... Stand-up shows usually mean a few laughs, obviously, but I don't think I've laughed (and nodded) so consistently.
I also very much appreciate the way you reply to comments here. I read that you haven't made a penny from this and would therefore like people to share this far and wide. I'll do my bit for that and if I ever get the chance to see you live, I'll take it.
I wonder if Louis CK's approach he has applied for years would work for you, if broadcasters and venues still won't have you (I think they will, but we'll see); he took matters in his own hands (already way before his #metoo moment) and sent out e-mails with links to his website where you could watch and/or download a new show for something like USD 5. Not sure what the motivation was, probably having a bit of control, but also making more money than he would have made the 'normal' way. The USD 5 was low enough for many people NOT to try and illegally download stuff etc. and so he reached (and sold to) so many more people than could come to shows, and internationally as well of course.
Anyway.

I worked as a flyerer for the show when you did it in Edinburgh. It’s lovely to see how the show has evolved.
Also I ran from Sean’s show to catch Ray Bandaran’s show 5 minutes after, I even snuck out of Sean’s show early. Sprinted there. Hot, sweaty and panting, I sat in the penultimate row. The show didn’t start for another ten minutes and while it did give me a chance to stop wheezing I was a bit pissed that I ran for no reason. I started to wonder why Ray’s show started late. Then strolls in Sean Walsh who quietly sits in the back row. Out of the two of us making the last minute journey, only one of us looked as if we had also performed an hour of non stop comedy dissecting the most depressing years of our life, before performing a Charleston. And it wasn’t, as McIntyre would call him “Walshy”.
We spoke after, lovely guy. We all make mistakes and I’m yet to see Sean make one that the Prime minister of this country hasn’t yet achieved. Except for Film week on strictly…moving on trying to get the image of Boris’ Johnson in that latex out of my head.

As I played it, I did indeed pause, Google Seann Walsh The Matrix and watch, then resume the show.
So raw, but so very funny too. You've done really well to find something funny from what sounds like a really tough time in your life.
I hope you accept that not everyone hated you, even if it felt like it at the time.
