    I had a problem in the middle of the installation. The installer said it needed to restart the computer and when it did, it just rebooted the flash drive and the entire process started over again. This was not mentioned in the video. I had to remove the flash drive and reset the bios reboot priority to the new drive or the process stalled. After I booted into win 10, the misconfig does not show win 7 at all. I don't know what to do.

    Thanks for the very informative video. I have a pc with Windows 7 Home installed and decided to make a dual-boot system by also installing Windows 10 Pro using a DVDrom. Instead of using partitions and dividing up a single harddisk (SSD) with multiple OS's on there, I decided on a more safer route by just buying an entirely new (480GB) SSD that I am going to use for the Windows 10 Pro installantion aswel as for the games that require Win 10 to work. My Windows 7 will remain on my old (250GB) SSD, and the games and save files I have for that I have stored on a regular (1TB) harddrive. I figured using an entirely new SSD for my Windows 10 (instead of messing with partitions) would be a although a bit more costly, be a safer option? :)

    I downloaded a new os but on my old windows 7 disc for some reason the activation code got disabled. Now I only see a message that says that I haven't activated windows. When I try activating it it doesn't work. All methods tried but is it the OSs problem?

    • @HetmanRecovery
      @HetmanRecovery  9 месяцев назад +1

      If you've installed a new operating system using your Windows 7 installation disc and are experiencing activation issues, there could be several reasons for this problem. Here are some common issues and solutions:
      Unsupported Activation: Windows 7 reached its end of life on January 14, 2020. This means that Microsoft no longer provides free security updates and support for Windows 7. Additionally, Microsoft may have disabled activation servers for Windows 7. This could be why you're unable to activate it.
      Solution: Consider upgrading to a more recent version of Windows, such as Windows 10 or Windows 11, which is still supported. You'll need a valid license key for the new Windows version.
      Incorrect License Key: Ensure that you're using the correct license key for your Windows 7 installation. If you're using a retail version of Windows 7, the product key should be on a sticker attached to your computer or in the documentation that came with the Windows 7 disc. If you have an OEM version, the key is typically provided by the manufacturer.
      Solution: Double-check that you've entered the correct product key. If it's still not working, contact Microsoft support for further assistance.
      Internet Connectivity Issues: Sometimes, activation issues can be caused by network problems. Ensure that your computer has a working internet connection.
      Solution: Troubleshoot your network connection if necessary and then try activating Windows again.
      Activated on Another Device: If you've used the same product key on another computer, this could cause activation issues as the key may be locked to one device at a time.
      Solution: Make sure that you're not using the same product key on multiple devices. You may need to contact Microsoft support to resolve this issue.
      Hardware Changes: Major hardware changes in your computer may trigger activation issues, as Windows associates the license key with the computer's hardware.
      Solution: If you've made significant hardware changes, you might need to reactivate Windows or contact Microsoft Support to explain the situation and request reactivation.
      Counterfeit or Pirated Key: If your Windows 7 product key is counterfeit or pirated, it may not activate, or it may be deactivated by Microsoft.
      Solution: To address this issue, you'll need to purchase a legitimate copy of Windows from Microsoft or an authorized reseller.
      Phone Activation: If you continue to face issues, consider using the phone activation method. You can find this option when you try to activate Windows. Follow the on-screen instructions, and you may be able to activate Windows by phone.
      If none of these solutions work, your best course of action is to contact Microsoft Support for further assistance, as they can help you resolve activation issues specific to your situation.

    I want to be able to dual boot Win 7 or 10 from different SSDs. I removed my Win 7 OS SSD from my PC when I loaded Win 10 on the new SSD. Can I now connect both SSDs and have this work? Do I set up the Bios to boot from the Win 10 SSD? Thanks.

    • @HetmanRecovery
      @HetmanRecovery  5 месяцев назад

      Yes, you can definitely dual-boot Windows 7 and Windows 10 from different SSDs. Here's a general outline of the steps you would need to take:
      Connect both SSDs: Physically install both SSDs into your computer. Ensure they are properly connected to your motherboard and have power.
      Set BIOS boot order: Go into your BIOS settings and set the boot order so that the SSD with Windows 10 is the primary boot device. This will ensure that your computer boots into Windows 10 by default.
      Install Windows 7 on the second SSD: Insert the Windows 7 installation media (DVD or USB) and boot from it. During the installation process, choose the second SSD (where you want to install Windows 7) as the installation destination. Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
      Configure dual-boot: After both operating systems are installed, you'll need to configure the dual-boot setup. By default, Windows 7's boot loader will likely overwrite Windows 10's boot loader, so you'll need to repair the Windows 10 boot loader.
      Boot into Windows 10 using the Windows 10 SSD.
      Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
      Run the following command to repair the Windows 10 boot loader:
      mathematica
      Copy code
      bcdboot C:\Windows
      (Assuming C: is the drive letter of your Windows 10 installation. Adjust if necessary.)
      Restart your computer. You should now see a boot menu that allows you to choose between Windows 7 and Windows 10.
      Selecting the OS: During startup, you'll be presented with a boot menu where you can choose which operating system to boot into. You can typically do this by pressing a key (like F12 or F8) during startup, or the BIOS/UEFI may automatically detect multiple operating systems and present a menu.
      Final Checks: Once both operating systems are bootable and you're able to select between them, test each one to make sure they're functioning properly. You may need to install drivers and software for each OS separately.
      By following these steps, you should be able to successfully dual-boot Windows 7 and Windows 10 from different SSDs on your computer.

    You said, "Our computer has windows 7 installed, and there is another hard disk connected." What do you mean by this? Do I have to connect another hard disk to the computer? Or can I just install the additional windows OS into a partition in Windows Management? If I can do it into a partition, in windows management, what is the process? Do I first have to set up a drive letter for the purpose? If so, how do I do that? And do I have to shrink something in order to have enough room for it? If so, how do I know how much to shrink it? Thanks.

      Yes, if you dual boot your PC with Windows 10 and Windows 8.1, the files and software on each operating system will remain separate and unaffected by the other. When you boot into Windows 8.1, you will have access to the files and software installed on that operating system. Similarly, when you boot into Windows 10, you will have access to the files and software installed on that operating system. Each operating system will maintain its own separate files and settings.

    can you have 2 window 10 operating systems installed. i have feeling my m.2 drive is damaged and want to to install windows on ssd to see if my computer stops freezing and crashing.

    • @HetmanRecovery
      @HetmanRecovery  Год назад

      Yes, it is possible to have two Windows 10 operating systems installed on separate drives within the same computer. This is often referred to as a "dual-boot" setup. In your case, you want to install Windows 10 on an SSD to test if your computer freezing and crashing issues are related to a damaged M.2 drive.
      Here's a general outline of the steps you would need to take:
      Backup Data: Before you proceed with any installations, make sure to back up any important data from your current Windows installation on the M.2 drive.
      Prepare Installation Media: Create a Windows 10 installation USB drive. You can use the official Media Creation Tool from Microsoft to do this.
      Install Windows on the SSD: Insert the installation USB drive and boot from it. During the installation process, you'll be prompted to select a drive to install Windows on. Choose the SSD as the installation location. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
      Dual-Boot Configuration: By default, the new installation will become the default operating system. If you want to retain the ability to choose between the two Windows installations at startup, you'll need to configure the boot loader. The Windows Boot Manager will be updated to display a menu where you can choose which Windows version to boot into.
      Testing: Once the new Windows installation on the SSD is up and running, you can use it to test if your computer freezing and crashing issues are resolved. If the issues persist, it might indicate that the M.2 drive is not the cause.
      Removing Dual-Boot Setup: If you find that your computer works fine on the SSD-installed Windows and you want to remove the dual-boot setup, you can do so by removing the entry from the Windows Boot Manager and potentially formatting the M.2 drive if it's no longer needed.
      Remember that working with operating system installations and disk partitions can have risks, so it's a good idea to have a basic understanding of these processes or seek assistance from someone who does.
      Additionally, consider seeking professional help or diagnosing the root cause of your computer's freezing and crashing issues before going through the hassle of a dual-boot setup. It's possible that the issue might not be related to the M.2 drive, and troubleshooting the existing installation could save you time and effort.

    Is lots of RAM necessary for the computer to have when 2 OS are installed? And are there any possible errors that might occur?

    • @HetmanRecovery
      @HetmanRecovery  10 месяцев назад +1

      The amount of RAM required for a computer when running two operating systems (OS) depends on several factors, including the specific OSes in use, the tasks you'll be performing on each OS, and your overall system requirements. Here are some considerations:
      Type of OS: The RAM requirements can vary significantly depending on the operating systems you plan to install. Modern versions of popular OSes like Windows 10/11, macOS, and Linux typically require at least 4GB to 8GB of RAM to run smoothly on their own. When running two OSes simultaneously, you'll want to allocate enough RAM to each to ensure adequate performance.
      Multitasking: If you intend to run multiple applications or perform resource-intensive tasks on both OSes simultaneously, you'll need more RAM. RAM helps with multitasking by allowing each OS to keep data and applications in memory for quick access.
      Virtualization: If you're using virtualization software like VMware, VirtualBox, or Parallels to run one OS within another (e.g., running Windows on a Mac), you'll need to allocate RAM to both the host (the OS running directly on your hardware) and the guest (the OS running within the virtual machine). More RAM will improve performance, as each OS will have its own dedicated memory.
      Minimum and Recommended System Requirements: Always check the minimum and recommended system requirements for each OS you intend to install. Meeting or exceeding the recommended requirements will ensure a smoother experience.
      Swap/Page File: If you don't have enough physical RAM, both OSes may rely on swap space (Windows) or a swap partition (Linux) to simulate additional memory. This can result in slower performance, so having more physical RAM is preferable.
      As for possible errors or issues when running two OSes on the same computer:
      Hardware Compatibility: Ensure that your hardware is compatible with both OSes. Some hardware components, like graphics cards or wireless adapters, may have limited driver support in certain OSes.
      Bootloader Conflicts: When you install two OSes on the same machine, they may share a bootloader. If not configured correctly, this can lead to booting errors or difficulties selecting the desired OS at startup. Properly configuring the bootloader (e.g., GRUB for Linux) is crucial.
      Partitioning: Incorrectly partitioning your hard drive or making changes to partitions during OS installation can result in data loss or boot errors. Always back up important data and follow installation instructions carefully.
      Driver Issues: Some hardware components may not have suitable drivers available for all OSes, which can lead to functionality or performance problems.
      Resource Allocation: Make sure you allocate enough resources (CPU cores, RAM, storage) to each OS in a dual-boot or virtualization setup to avoid performance bottlenecks.
      In summary, while you don't necessarily need an excessive amount of RAM for a dual-boot or virtualization setup, having an adequate amount is essential to ensure both OSes run smoothly. The specific requirements will depend on your use case and the OSes involved, so it's a good idea to research the RAM requirements for your particular scenario.

    After installing the 2nd OS, My main OS is not booting up anymore. I'm getting blue screen crash. Only the newly installed OS is booting up properly.

    • @HetmanRecovery
      @HetmanRecovery  4 месяца назад

      It sounds like you are experiencing a boot issue after installing a second operating system. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:
      Check Boot Order: Make sure that the boot order in your BIOS settings is correct. The primary OS drive should be set as the first boot device.
      Repair Boot Loader: If you are using Windows, you can try repairing the boot loader using the Windows installation media. Boot from the installation media, select “Repair your computer,” and then choose the option to repair the boot loader.
      Use System Restore: If you have a recent system restore point, you can try using it to revert your system back to a point before you installed the second OS.
      Check Disk for Errors: Boot into the working OS and run a disk check on the drive where your main OS is installed. This can help identify and fix any disk errors that may be causing the blue screen crash.
      Backup Data: If you are unable to boot into your main OS, consider backing up your important data from that drive using a data recovery tool like Hetman Partition Recovery.
      If none of these steps help resolve the issue, you may need to consider reinstalling your main OS or seeking further assistance from a professional technician.

    windows 10 OS in my SSD
    windows 10 OS in my HDD
    in one computer.
    Can I access both their storage while only using one OS?

    • @HetmanRecovery
      @HetmanRecovery  Год назад

      Yes, you can access both repositories using the same Windows 10 OS. Here are some ways you can do this:
      Make sure you have access to both drives: Open Windows Explorer (press Win + E) and look under "This computer". All available drives should be listed there, including your SSD and hard drive. If both drives appear, you have access to both storages.
      Change the drive letters: If a drive is not visible or you need to change the drive letter for easier access, you can do so. Right-click on the Start button and select Disk Manager. There you can see all your drives. Right-click on the drive you want to change the drive letter for, select "Change drive letter and path" and follow the instructions to change the drive letter.
      Create shortcuts for easy access: You can create shortcuts on your desktop or in the This Computer folder for quick access to both repositories. To do this, open Windows Explorer, locate the appropriate drive (SSD or hard drive), right-click and select Create Shortcut. Then drag the shortcut to the desktop or to the folder you need.
      These methods will help you get convenient access to both storages using a single Windows 10 OS.

    I install an ssd in m.2 but when i going to install win 10 in ssd then an error is showing (we couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one for more information see the setup log)
    Can u slove it?

    • @HetmanRecovery
      @HetmanRecovery  11 месяцев назад +1

      Certainly, encountering an error like this during Windows 10 installation can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
      Check M.2 Compatibility: Ensure that your M.2 SSD is compatible with your motherboard. Some older motherboards might not support certain types of M.2 SSDs. Check your motherboard's manual or specifications to verify compatibility.
      Check BIOS Settings:
      Make sure that the M.2 slot is enabled in your motherboard's BIOS settings.
      Check for any BIOS updates for your motherboard that might address M.2 compatibility issues.
      Check M.2 Slot and Connection:
      Ensure that the M.2 SSD is properly seated in the M.2 slot on your motherboard.
      Check the M.2 connection for any loose connections or debris that might be causing connectivity issues.
      Secure Erase (Optional): If the M.2 SSD was used in a different system before, you might want to perform a secure erase to ensure a clean state for Windows installation.
      AHCI/RAID Mode:
      In your BIOS settings, make sure the SATA mode is set to AHCI (Advanced Host Controller Interface) mode. Some users encounter issues when it's set to RAID mode.
      Partitioning During Installation:
      When you reach the point during the Windows installation where you need to select a drive to install Windows on, try deleting all existing partitions on the M.2 SSD until it shows as unallocated space. Then, create a new partition on the unallocated space and proceed with the installation.
      UEFI vs. Legacy Boot:
      Make sure you're booting in UEFI mode, as this is the modern standard. Legacy BIOS mode can sometimes cause issues during installation.
      Disconnect Other Drives: If you have multiple drives (HDDs, other SSDs) connected to your system, try disconnecting them temporarily during the installation process. This can prevent any confusion regarding which drive Windows should be installed on.
      Try Another USB Drive: Sometimes the installation media (USB drive) itself might be corrupted. Try creating a new Windows 10 installation USB drive using Microsoft's official Media Creation Tool.
      Diagnostic Logs: The error message refers to a setup log that might provide more detailed information about what's going wrong. You can press Shift + F10 during the installation process to open a command prompt, and then navigate to C:\$Windows.~BT\Sources\Panther to access the setup log files.
      Check SSD Health: If none of the above steps work, consider checking the health of your M.2 SSD using manufacturer-specific diagnostic tools or third-party utilities. There could be an issue with the SSD itself.
      If you've tried all these steps and are still encountering issues, it might be worth seeking help from a technical expert or your motherboard/PC manufacturer's support.

    How do I make sure the two operating systems are completely separate? I don't want to be able to access any files from one on the other.

    • @HetmanRecovery
      @HetmanRecovery  14 дней назад

      To ensure that two operating systems are completely separate and that you cannot access any files from one on the other, you can follow these steps:
      Use Separate Hard Drives or Partitions: Install each operating system on a separate physical hard drive or create separate partitions on the same drive for each OS. This will physically separate the operating systems and their files.
      Enable Encryption: Encrypt the drives or partitions where each operating system is installed. This will add an extra layer of security and prevent unauthorized access to the files.
      Set Up User Accounts: Create separate user accounts for each operating system. Make sure that each user account is password-protected and that users do not have administrative privileges on the other OS.
      Disable Sharing: Disable file sharing and network access between the two operating systems. This will prevent files from being accessed across the systems.
      Use Virtual Machines: If you are running one operating system within a virtual machine on the other, make sure to configure the virtual machine settings to restrict file sharing and access between the host and guest OS.
      Secure Boot: Enable Secure Boot in the BIOS settings to prevent unauthorized operating systems from booting on your computer.
      By following these steps, you can ensure that the two operating systems are completely separate and that files from one cannot be accessed from the other. It’s important to regularly update and maintain the security settings on both operating systems to keep your data safe and secure.

      A standard loaders are edited like this:
      - For Windows XP: Open "Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Advanced -> Download and Restore - Options."
      Here we can configure the time for displaying the list of operating systems, the system being loaded by default, and also configure some parameters of the OS failure.
      - For "Windows Vista / 7/8" you can use the MultiBoot program.
