Look out for some more Hank Williams, coming up in the next couple of episodes! Check out the Hank Williams Story on corporalhenshaw along with other classic country films.
Emmylou Harris introduced me to the Louvin brother's , Ralph Stanley and many other artists... she's awesome and very gifted in her choices of music 🎼 💯👌 .
I love this series of videos about Bluegrass and Country. Ricky Skaggs and emey Lou carried on the:70s . I wish the bbc could have Included the Osborne Brothers. They had a lot that they contributed to Bluegrass.Bobby and Sonny . The song Ruby , and Rocky Top are laconic.and many other beautiful songs.
Dr. Ralph Stanley was late to a show in WV because of a flat tire. When he got there he thought the place was playing a record of him and his brother. It was actually Ricky Skaggs and Keith Whitley. They ended up going on the road with him.
Bless Emmylou Harris. We need an Emmylou for the current generation.
in the late 90's I first heard Allison believed she has the voice of an angel!
The voice of an angel and the language of a sailor.
Bluegrass is basically jazz but played with mandolins and a really fucking fast banjo
The key element in Bluegrass is syncopation. Bluegrass is basically syncopated country music. That's why Earl Scruggs' banjo style is what got it going, because he played a syncopated picking style. Kenny Baker (top bluegrass fiddle player) said that bluegrass is nothing but jazz put to country music. But jazz came out of ragtime, which was the first syncopated music. So it's the syncopation from ragtime music that made its way into jazz and then into country music to created Bluegrass music.

Bluegrass is not an offshoot of country music. It's the other way round.

I wish these videos wouldn't cut off in mid-sentence at the end... still, thanks for the uploads
I think, like many others, that it is Earl Scruggs Banjo style that defines Bluegrass music, NOT Bill Monroe. Play the Monroe Brothers first records and they sound like the earlier Delmore Brothers, but with mandolin. After Earl left Bill monroe replaced him with someone who could play like Scruggs. He didnt go back to the old Stringbean banjo style, did he?
+richard s bluegrass sprang forth from the forehead of bill monroe as the fully armored athena from the forehead of zeus also alison krauss is wonderful but she dosent sing bluegrass
Allison grew up singing, playing bluegrass. Now, less so.
Marvellous!
I really love Emmylou Harris !
In love♥ bluegrass
I love bluegrass
With all due respect to Bill Monroe, founder of bluegrass music, I think Alison Krauss has refined the genre, made it much more attractive & interesting. (She also sings beautifully & is gorgeous, which helps, of course).
...Looks like Rodney Crowell singing at 03:10.
The one and only.
BLUEGRASS Music itself is very good, nothing wrong with the music. BUT, I don't like the raunchy attitude problems from most people that plays it.
